Have you tried ordering from oversees lately? At least with USPS domestic you know that it's in the country. For close to two months I was told by USPS that it was awaiting arrival of a shipment from Germany and Deutsche Post said it had been sent weeks earlier. It took so long that Deutsche Post erased all knowledge of the package ever having existed while the USPS still maintained that it was awaiting arrival. So I gave up on this particular package and a week or so later my doodad from overseas arrived while the USPS still maintained it was awaiting arrival. Worst thing is now UPS isn't much better these days.

USPS does not supply tracking numbers for Priority Mail and First Class Mail packages, these are delivery confirmation numbers. USPS clearly states on their website that Delivery Confirmation numbers are not intended to be "tracking" numbers, rather they are used to show proof of delivery.

I personally prefer USPS for smaller packages. Everything (except for media mail) gets to me within 2-3 days, no matter where it is shipped from (within the USA of course). As mentioned above, UPS and Fed Ex can take 5 working days to get a package from coast to coast, and they charge a LOT more.

On a similar note, I will never again ship from UPS ever. When I lived in Hawaii and wanted to ship my desktop back home to FL, cost me 300+ to ship one box (the tower) and another 200+ to ship everything else (LCD screen, mouse keybored etc.) The part that made me super upset is that it wasn't just shipped by weight, it was also shipped by value of the items which I could not opt out of. Also because it was a computer I had to have it specially packed (got about 4000 total into my computer atm) I called UPS and explained to them why I thought it was unfair and shipping should be by weight and I should have the right to opt out of something I do not want, and that I could of shipped my things from USPS for way less. I got basically a "sorry but that is how we do things." Never again. I also remember how much I paid to have my desktop shipped to me via fed ex from the manufacturer, and it was 1/4 of what I paid...
