I was having the same issues. I bought a silver crown that had white gaskets on the coils and never had an issue. I bought a black tank and all coils had black gaskets. All the black gasket coils gave dry hits after a day or two. I'm not sure if it's the coils with the black gaskets only or I just got lucky with the silver tank with white gasket coils. I took apart 3 or 4 coils looking for trouble and found nothing . All clean and not burnt. Cleaned the tank and changed the gaskets and nothing changed. What I realized is the amount, and the way the cotton is installed is causing a problem . What I been doing is poking a pin through all the juice holes . Then I poke 4 holes from the top down between the coil and case to fluff the cotton. It works flawlessly. And to think I took apart a few perfectly good coils that just need a Lil cotton fluffing. Hope this helps other as its helped me.
Same exact story with me. I have 2 silver tanks and one black. I'll try the pin holes through the juice holes too. Thanks :)

Hope u get it fixed. This thing is hands down my favorite tank. I was really not happy when this problem started. But I swear since I started preping the coils with the pin I been loving this thing again. .

You shouldn't have to stab the coil if you're priming it properly. Just dripping some drops on the coil like you said isn't enough, you need to take your time and allow the layers of cotton to become fully saturated. I had dryish hits for the first week after buying my crown, took the coil apart and discovered only the outer layer was wet and the top half was burnt (despite dripping what I thought was a good amount of juice on it before installing). After following the steps in this video I haven't had a single dry it

This post from the main crown thread also looks like a good method:
This is not directed at anyone in particular, but I honestly believe some people are over-saturating their Crown coils initially and that is leading them to issues. This is how I saturate mine with not a drop over or under:

Not sure how much this is as I eyeball it. It's probably about a 1/3 of a mL or so. I just drip onto a plastic surface (the lines are my guides of sorts and I've used that card ever since I got my amount right. It's just a 3" x 5" card under the plastic surface). Note: it takes way less liquid than it seems it would.

Place the coil head on the little puddle with one liquid feed hole facing directly down into the puddle. You can get the idea of how much (or better yet, how little liquid) is used by seeing it in relation to the coil head.

crtlzpyl.jpg

About 10 minutes later and the liquid is already pretty soaked up, but it's not made its way up and around into the cotton yet...

duCp1lEl.jpg

Exactly 15 minutes later (generally all that it will take for 70 VG, but 90 VG takes about 20 minutes or longer). The liquid has made its way up and around and it's saturated fully.

p3Cr9rYl.jpg

25 minutes later and no more liquid would absorb. That last little drop is what would not be absorbed.

UGertbEl.jpg

Perfectly saturated with no more or no less than it should be. This is what I do to ensure no gurgling, no flooding, no excessive spitting and no wonky hits from drowning coils.

pzyWruIl.jpg

Everyone has their on way to do it, so this is only here for someone to try if they are having issues and would like to try a new method. Note: once placing the coil on the puddle, don't fiddle with it. Leave it be and trust that cotton will do what it is supposed to do, i.e., absorb. I don't rush the process.

Thank you for the info. I love The Crown but my thing with the .25 was, it would be good for 3-5 days then burnt hit city. As this guy brought out, there's a lot of tightly packed cotton in these coils. I wonder if it's possible I was just vaping down to the unsaturated areas? Don't know, but I will try his method on the next .25. For right now, I am using a new .5 that I out probably 10 drops in, hit the holes and let sit for 20 minutes. In 3 tanks I went from 20 to 70 watts. For the last couple hours it's been good but we'll see for how long.

This would make sense if I was getting dry hits at the begining. I'm getting dry hits 3 or 4 days in. My method for break in is flawless. Im Positive my coils are are completely soaked before I even attempt to fire them. When I do i start at 20 and go up . I never even hit the coils above 70 watts . I usually vape at 40 to 50 on the .5
The next coil I break in I'm going to try pooling juice on a plate and let the coil suck it on its own . Maybe there to wet and then clog. I'dk but 3 or 4 days in to a new coil I have to poor it with a pin to make it work again

Same story here. 7th tank on a new coil and no flavor, nothing but dry hits.

Try the pin trick I'm 8 tanks on mine and it's wick flawlessly. I still think it's so packed that its too tight to wick after running juice so the fluff technique needs to be be performed. Like I said 8 tanks and still working flawless . I'll keep posted if it stops working but it the only thing I've found to work

How many tanks you having issues with?

Push a pin through the center of the wicking and coil. It will open it up a bit and should wick better.

I am about to go buy a tank today, and so glad I saw this, since I was considering the Crown Uwell. Tired of this sort of tinkering, so it makes my decision easier. Busy with work, and traveling, who wants to go try to find a vape shop to help with this as I'm a relative newbie.

Where in New England Mike? I'm in Clinton but maintain NEV's Facebook vendor list.

I think moneymike is right. I primed the coil like in the video and the performance has been amazing. I'm still only about 6 tanks in but i'm hopeful. Give it a try. I'll report back in a few days and let you know how its going.

I've had my crown for a little over a month now and I've had no issues of any kind. The past couple weeks there has been numerous threads about this popping up which is making me believe that the current batch of coils from the manufacturer is bad. I've used the .5, .2, and the .15 Ni200 coils and haven't had any issues with dry hits. The tank is amazing and I sure hope all of you find a solution for this!

Can I ask how you prime your coils?

This could be the issue. Like you, I bought all the coils months ago, nothing to report here.

I too bought my coils months ago...and I bought a million of them. I just tried the method of priming the coils in the video above and so far so good. I just hope it stays that way. Can I ask how you prime your coils? As I'm thinking this might be the problem.

I don't prime them, I just put the coil in, let it soak for about 30 minutes, start low wattage than crank it up. But I seldom go above 50 watts, that's enough for me.
