So I got my V2 all ready to go, screwed on a full 901. I should mention that I had been using this 901 off and on for the past month and it was working fine. Pushed the button, took a drag, and BLECH!!! Burnt metal/plastic taste galore.

Screwed the same atty back onto a KR808 batt and it worked fine.

Finally I busted out a brand new 510, rinsed out the primer with water, blew it out with compressed air, and filled it to the brim with fluid and it worked like a champ. No issues, except that I have to keep topped off... basically to the point where one more drop would have juice leaking out the bottom.

So why doesn't a 901 atty that was working fine on my passthru and 808 batts automatically taste like crap when I put it on the V2? Does the higher voltage burn off some of the built up crud that the lower voltages can't?

Maybe I'll buy a BE112 adapter and try that out. It sounds like those are supposed to work quite nicely.

Nope, the cart isn't burnt.

I've noticed the stainless steel attys work better though. I think they cool down quicker between hits. The ones I had problems with were white and black and have some kind of coating or paint on them.

I've yet to try out a brand new 901 atty. I'll break one out today and see if that helps. I just thought it was peculiar that I got nothing but a burnt taste from my trusty old 901, but right away I could throw it on a 808 batt and it was fine.

Why does puresmoker recommend the BE112s? What is the difference in performance between those and a 510 or 901? Because right now its working like a champ with a 510, but if the BE112s are even better I might give those a shot.

BTW, mega props to PS on the overall design of the V2. Everything about it is immaculate. Definitely a high quality device, just takes a bit of getting used to.

Its the higher voltage burning off the crud. I know certain juices that taste like extra crappy crap in this situation. Use a new 901 atty, you should be fine.

I was starting to think my V2 was a hunk of junk... but it is the atomizers... Some of these 901 attys are just garbage and can't handle 5v without tasting burnt.

The ones that work best are the SLBs so far. I have some others that are different. On the SLBs all you can see is the wick. The other ones have an exposed bridge and I just can't get em to perform properly.

Maybe I'll tear the wick out of one of them and see if that helps. Some people think it helps for dripping.

I was getting a burnt taste on everything with my V2 - 901 carts, cartomizers, direct dripping. The PV itself was awesome but I couldn't get rid of that burnt taste no matter what I did. I sent it back in exchange for a Protege V1.1. I'm going to stick to 3.7v for a while and then maybe try 5v later.

I'd give it another shot...

I love the V2 now that I've figured it out...

First off, I've put my batteries thru a few charge cycles now and they seem to be working more consistently... At first it seemed like they were discharging too much voltage or something... After one 3 second drag the atty would be really hot

Second... My main issues were with the atomizers.... I ripped the wicks out of all of my 901s and now they work great with no burnt taste whatsoever...

I like 3.7v and I love my KR8s but 5v definetely has it's advantages too

the 901's i'm going through right now are from TW and I don't recommend them.
I had 5 and I've gone through 3 rather quickly.

Anybody know anything about the RN4075's? Is that a different bridge type 901?

The ones that TW sell are RN4075 (low bridge). I don't like them either. They leak a lot more then a DSE901 and pop easier.

Huh? got a link to a walkthrough or pics?

the 901 works better imho @ 3.7v because it burns up the juice WAY fast for me @ 5v with the v2.
