i've heard at first the batteries will give off more than 3.0v for the first few charges.

This.

It sucks because when I first got my V2 I had to *flood* my atomizers and cartoz otherwise I got nothing but burnt nastiness.

After about 2 or 3 charge cycles my RCR123s mellowed out a bit. I wish I would have busted out my multimeter right away, but now they both put out ~3volts. But, I'm sure that when new they put of significantly more than 3.0v, because I tested a brand new KR808 batt yesterday after it's first charge and it was kicking strong at 4.2v... after a few weeks of use the KR808s drop down to about 3.7-3.8v on a full charge.

My advice would be to find another device that runs RCR123s and run them through a few cycles first. Because they're too hot right off the bat.

When I vape carto's with my V2, most of the time, the flavor is harsh and burnt tasting. When I vape carto's with my Silver Bullet (same carto's and same batteries), the flavor is much smoother and better. Anyone else experiencing this?

So, you're saying that cartos on your ~5.2 volt Prodigy V2 run hotter than they do on your 6 volt Silver Bullet? That's...surprising, to say the least.

Hmmm . . . that is odd because I love cartos on my Prodigy v2 and wanted to buy a backup but puresmoker was sold out so I bought a Chameleon with a sleeve and tried to vape at 6v but it was too harsh and burnt tasting . . .

For the record after awhile my cartos did start tasting burnt on my v2 but I used some metal cleaner on my O-rings and it's back to carto vaping perfection.

What cartos are you using? Ones from puresmoker, reg ones from V4L, or premium V4Ls and/or Vapornine cartos, LiteCig . . . ???

im having the same issue as well. SB with carto's are fine but harsh and burnt on the v2. Perhaps it is the batteries. Stuck the v2 on the meter without the carto's on and it read about 7.45v. I dont know how much the ohm resistance on the carto's drop the voltage though.

Chad has stated that the SB with 2 3.0v batts delivers around 5.1v under a 3.5 ohm load.

What kind/voltage batts are you using that give you 7.45v without a load

under load with resistance of atty is sig lower...attys take off a lil over a volt....if that helps. also, the first few poofs off ur V2 will be stronger and will taper to 4.5-5.2v pretty quickly, maybe 10-15 poofs...I find new cartos burn but refilled with own juice they vape like a dream on the V2.
