This is my first post. I've been lurking around for the past couple of weeks and have heard great things about Joye Ego products but still not sure I would want to buy that for my first e-cig. I know it's a noob move to buy brands like V2 but it seems they are the leading noob vendor. I have a few friends who bought from Greensmoke and bluecigs and they say it's pretty good.

I've been smoking regular tobacco cigarettes for 15 years now and I'm ready to move to something that doesn't hurt my lungs and give me chest pains. Eventually, I would like to quit cigarettes altogether but I know that's going to take a several months. I actually ordered from bluecigs but they gave me extremely poor customer service that now, I'm considering V2. Hopefully, I can get better customer service with them.

What do you guys think? For a guy who is trying to quit, should I even bother doing additional research for Joye Ego or should I just stick with an easy plug and play ecig like V2?

I started with a V2.. still have it and use it as a backup. It got me off the analogs, so I give them kudos for that, and I got really great customer service from them. But within a couple weeks, I was looking for something bigger and badder. I went with an Elite 808 from CigEasy... much better battery life than the V2 and all the 808 cartos I'd accumulated fit it. So now, here I am a little over two months in,,, AND... I'm looking for bigger and badder yet again. I agree with ikinowaghost.. I've read great things about the kGo and I'm considering getting that one too. Keep in mind that the slim devices are not going to have the battery life you want.. you'll constantly be recharging.. go for the big and bad the first time around, you'll save yourself time and money in the end... good luck and happy shopping!

While I've never tried an eGO, I did buy the KGO about 1.5 weeks after getting the V2 and definately don't regret the purchase at all. I know it will last me the whole day at work on a charge (you get 2 batteries in the kit if you buy that, but I only need one) so I have a charged one when I get home. with the V2 I was having to charge it several times a day. I get better vapor production and flavor too from the KGO.

They are both good, but personal preference after trying both is the KGo / eGO route.

IMO V2's pre-filled carto's are exceptionally lousy, though there are others who will say they like them.

The batteries are ok compared to many of the full system brands trying to hook you on pre-filled cartos, but still only last for an hour or two of heavy vaping.

I'm still using my V2 batteries filling blank cartos with juices.

My Joye eGo-C is in the mail. There are pretty mixed reviews on the Joye ego-C, what pushed me over the edge was the new battery design with the improved chip protection.

I ordered some 510 cartos and a 510 tank with punched cartos in case I don't like the ego-C atty & tank system.

Obviously if I had it to do over again I would just order something better and not waste the money on the Kr808d's (or the pile of Blu, Safecig, Quick E-cig and whatever other junky batteries I have laying around).

(Yes, this is my first post). I started with V2 (99 days ago), and still use their juice along with stick batteries (V2 & V4L mainly) as backups (like luvinit). I then got an Elite 808 from CigEasy, which I like a LOT. My wife now uses that and I'm now using a Go-Go, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. Many folks, many opinions here. All are good. The key is just to find something you like - you'll stick to vaping that way.

v2 is a fine start, just minimally over paying for the convenience of just getting started. an the fact its gen 1 i think makes it a good start. id say v4l except i dont think they have good carts, an clearly people will buy carts where they get the batteries. but if you stay with vaping you will likely want something bigger soon after like most of us,,, an they work great with the easiest of upgrades, being one of the many wonderfully performing 808 connected fat batteries(vgo, pigcig, igo...). it cant get much easier than that...

I do like V2. The prefilled menthol is the best I have tried so far and to mix it with a little VG menthol makes it perfect.
the cartos themselves are great and the customer service is Exellent. But , I too am considering , at looking at something with a little better battery time. I can make the 2 batteries that came with my kit last all day between the 2 , but something about liquid and batteries has me thinking I might need more.

I would like to know "Where" to buy or at least look at , these Kgo ones a few have spoken about.

First off, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to respond.

@sloppy, rye-coke, iknowaghost - I've checked out these products and they seem a little big to keep in my pocket. I like the idea of a "cigarette sized" chargers/holders that some of these vendors offer since I tend to keep a lot of crap in my pocket and don't want any liquids leaking or anything becoming unscrewed. I guess the size is fair trade for longer battery life. How do you guys manage this?

@jays1fan - I'd like to see one in person too. Too bad I can't just go down to the local Target and check one out.

@luvinit & DPLongo22 - How long does your elite 808's last generally?

Aside from the E-liquid, is there anything else I need to buy for these type of systems if I get a starter kit?

Again, thank you to everyone that responded.

I've been a smoker for 40 years and tried to quit several times, I tried other brands of e-cigs, and they didn't fill the void. We have an ALTSMOKE "brick and mortar" store where we lived, so I went there and they let me sample the e-cigs they have in stock, the Yeti, Ego and the Volt. I chose the Volt with the 78mm battery, we got the Standard Starter Kit and Pro Kit because of the portable charger. I also tried the Silver Bullet, I was impressed, but like you I wanted that cig feel in my hand. Everybody has there own opinion on which is the best e-cig out there. Too bad you don't have a brick and mortar store where you're at to sample the items, and e-juices available.

With many of us, we have tried other e-cigs, until we find "the right one that fits us". Good Luck to you.

If you want a cig sized device to start off V2 is a solid option. I'd recommend getting at least three batteries for that sized device. Their cartomizers are good quality and can be refilled many times, so the only extra you'll need will be your juice which is a whole different topic. Get different types of flavours and find out what style you like and work from there.

I started with the v2, and while it's a solid product, it's waaaaay overpriced, and most don't find it satisfying enough long term. I bought a kgo shortly after and love it. It's very much like an ego, but the battery lasts longer. I've since purchased a go go, and even an e pipe, but my kgo is by far my favorite.

If you do decide to go with a v2 type (k808d) buy a different brand. There's really no sense in paying 2 or 3 times as much for something you may 'outgrow' in a relatively short period of time.

Good luck to you, and welcome!

added: v2 is one of the more popular products with noobs simply because they spend the most money in advertising....and noobs don't know better and buy into the hype....I did.
just FYI ;)

I started with the eGo-W. (The Mega kit with 1100mAh batteries) It came with clearomizers - no poly filler, or pre-filled cartridges to deal with. I made sure to get a high enough nic level (36mg) so I didn't have any cravings. I also started w/ a mint flavored juice since I didn't want the tobacco taste associated with satisfying my nic addiction. It will also take any 510 cartos/tanks/etc. if you decide later to make changes. (I just ordered a couple of different new, larger non-eGo clearomizers to try out.)

p.s. I you decide to move up to a 510 based mod, all your stuff will fit by using a 510-eGo adapter.

Size is one of those issues that rapidly becomes a non-issue. When I was contemplating vaping (I called it "smoking those electronic, you know, electronic cigarette things" back then) I was absolutely sure I could never ever use anything much larger than a regular cigarette. Now I find the KGO sort of small, and I'm looking for something bigger, or longer lasting, but when I got my first V2 kit I actually was disappointed with how big and heavy they were. They're not, but compared to cigarettes they're huge. There are two points I'm slowly circling towards:

1. It may be true that in order to actually pick up vaping and put down the burning garbage sticks you will need something at least close in size and feel. You'll soon find, maybe, that it size doesn't matter at all :) but that's irrelevant in the very beginning. Unfortunately, if they look like cigarettes they are more likely to not feel like cigarettes, imho.

2. eGos, kGos and even mods are not as big and clunky as they look in most vaping videos or pictures. Before I had some, I thought cartos were thicker than my finger, but there's a weird magnification factor in videos and pictures, and they're not.

Thanks for all of the responses. I'm glad I've stumbled upon this community for support. I did a little more searching on this forum and found a brick and mortar store in Laguna Beach which is only a 30 min drive from where I live. I will check out different brands at that store and will definitely walk away with something in hand (At least I hope) this weekend. I will let you guys know how that goes. I just hope I can get my money back from Blu Cigs who have so far treated me very poorly. Thanks again and feel free to leave some more great advice. I love reading everyone's opinion and will take all into consideration. Cheers! :)
