No worries about the bump, you're well past needing to bump for post count and we're always cool with updates. 
Coca Cola is ... strange, but not really surprising. Coke (well, any carbonated drink, really) is acidic so it'll do a good job of dissolving gunk from the coils. It's sugary though which can cause its own problems. I'd use unflavoured club soda myself. It's still acidic (the carbon dioxide is what makes it acidic, as it reacts in solution to create carbonic acid -- that's where the tingle from drinking anything carbonated comes from) so it should clean just as well and won't leave any residue.
Any other acidic substance will work, too. Vinegar and pure citrus juice (lemon or lime preferably) should work very well.
