Hey, doublehelix! Welcome to the forum and congrats on your 510 purchase!

The 510 was my first, also. I still enjoy it very much (I'd enjoy it even more if I hadn't killed one of my batteries dry-burning attys-which you're NOT supposed to do with the thin batts!)

There is hardly any "leftover" taste in prefilled carts provided their rinsed out properly. If you REALLY want to get them fresh and clean, wash them in some vinegar+baking soda+a little lemon juice (it will bubble profusely, so do this in your kitchen sink). Rinse well and enjoy new carts with absolutely NO lingering smells! It works great for atomizers, too! Why can I suddenly hear the late Billy Mays when I reread this?

I just looked up the Pyramid Tea Bad mod, it seems easy, and I have a few in the house. Problem solved :) Thank you all. Everyone is so nice, but I must say, all this information is a bit overwhelming, I think after I get my 510, I will just vape and enjoy for a bit, then look to ECF for more information.

update: Got my new Yeti 510, and I got that good' ole absolutely disgusting, make me gag taste out of the new atomizers. Rinsed with vodka a few times, hot water, blow end the ends etc etc. Still gross! Mad Gross! Emailed vendor wand waiting back to hear. I know this is very common, but it is a big turn off. I did try dripping and giving carts enough juice. To no avail. Am I correct in assuming that cartos never have this problem? If so I am totally considering going to cartos, Boge seems to peoples choice more often than not.

Cartos do not have primer in them, no. That's pretty well reserved for atomizers. The primer can take a fair amount of rinsing/blowing/dry-burning to get rid of sometimes depending on how much primer they packed it with. It's a pain in the ...., but unfortunately that's just part of dealing with new atties.

Boge cartos are definitely very good, and your best choice for a Yeti. Stick with something around 2.4-2.6ohm or so and you should be good. I'm also having good luck with the Fluxomizer Deluxe from GotVapes, though you tend to have to mod them before they work properly. But once modded they've been surprisingly good.

Thank you mindfield. If this is just the "expletive deleted" you have to put up with new atties, than I am going to cartos, pretty simple. Though I will miss dripping :( I guess I will keep a few atties on hand to drip with, just have to clean them, which to me, takes a way from the fun. And I only keep Grey Goose in the house, hate to use that to clean atties :p

Edit: I noticed LF did not have the 2.4 or so ohm boge cartos. Where can I get those? If that is considered LR, I thought I could not use LR on the smaller batt 510

Well, everything needs to be cleaned eventually, especially atties you use for dripping straight because they're less likely to stay wet all the time, and dryness contributes to gunking up the coil. Cartos, tanks, clearos, et al. are definitely more of a fill-and-forget system, which is one of the reasons I like them -- but then I've never been one for dripping. To me, the less fuss and attention they require, the better, and cartos and clearos have fit that bill very nicely for me without spoiling the flavour.

I think you answered before I edited :) Was I correct with the statement in my edit about LR on my 510? I am still only seeing either 2 or 3 ohm boge cartos.

You can use LR on a 510 battery but the lower you go the more it can damage MOSFET driven batteries like the 510 and eGo. For what it's worth I've used a 1.7ohm Bauway carto on my 510 without any issues. Shorter battery life, sure, and it'll probably reduce the overall lifespan of the battery, but it did work.

A 3 ohm carto would still work fine on a 510. The vape will be on the cool side but most 510 atomizers are around 2.5-3.0ohm anyway. A 2 ohm carto on a 510 battery (~3.4v under load) will produce about 5.7 watts of power @ 1.7A, while a 3 ohm carto produces around 3.7 watts @ 1.13A. I don't know what the switch load capacity is on a 510/Yeti, but I don't imagine it's under 1A and is more likely capable of handling 1.5A, so a 3ohm carto would be well within its capabilities and a 2ohm carto would be pushing it, but in my opinion not outside an acceptable level of risk.

Thank you for all your help mindfield. I think i am carto bound!

Any time! I think you'll love the cartos. I didn't like cartos a while back, but the moment I tried the (at the time) new dual coils on my eGo I was a complete convert. They do have their disadvantages, but as long as you have at least one flavour you're happy to commit to a carto for an all day vape, you're golden. Plus they transport really well -- pocket, bag, whatever, so they're great for filling multiple cartos just to take along without having to also bring a bunch of juice bottles.

If you really like dripping though you'll probably end up with a bottom feeder mod like the REO at some point along with a Cisco atty or something, but until that day comes, if it does, you just can't beat a carto for portability and ease of use, and modern cartos vape really well without ruining the flavour or burning.

I have looked at bottom feeders, and they look, well they look awesome! Just what I need! I will say that nasty taste from atties is a BIG BIG turn off for me. I have zero desire to clean those things every time I get one . Forget that noise. ikenvape can expect some of my business later today :)

Indeed. Bottom feeders are pretty much the perfect companion for people who like dripping, as it's dripping without the muss or fuss, and most hold 3 or 5ml bottles which for me is a day-plus worth of vaping, so ... big win for drippers. Ikenvape's atties are really well recieved too, so I doubt you'll be disappointed with them.

@mindfied Which cartos do you use if you don't mind me asking

Right now I'm using the Fluxomizer Deluxe form Gotvapes (XL, 2.6-2.8ohm, got 2 packs of each colour). Monster vapor producers as long as you don't mind doing a little modding. Outside of those however I prefer the Smoktech dual coils and the eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers (EMDCC). None of the DCCs will work on a Yeti, obviously, but the Fluxomizers will work just fine. I was considering some Boges as well, but since I got a whole whack of the Fluxomizers I probably won't need them, especially since the Fluxomizers can be disassembled and cleaned very easily, so they're likely to last quite a long time.

I apologize sincerely for bumping my own thread again. But an update. I cleaned out my atties using Coca Cola, and I be damned, between the other cleanings and this one. I think i got it! I vaped on High Caliber Menthol, and Vanilla, and it was not bad. I think that is the juice and not the attie. I also vaped Fire Cured Virginia, and was rather gross. I actually called the vendor because according to the labels, the juice expired in May! So I am hoping vendor takes care of me, and I wll still probably go to Boge or Ikenvapes cartos. Sorry again for the bump, just wanted to update. Amazing how the cola worked with just a few hour soak.
