Just got the V4L VaporKing and have been happily vaping it for over 24 hours now. Much better than the overpriced and subpar GreenSmoke setup that I dumped a lot of money into since November 2009 with limited success. Newbie advice: V4L's VaporKing is an excellent e-cig if you're looking for something new to dabble in. Maybe there's something better but price-wise, quality-wise and selection-wise, V4L is fantastic. Pre-filled carto's do lack some serious flavor in my opinion but if you find the right juice (from them or any vendor), the blank carto's seem to work really well if filled properly.

Anyhow, question time.

How many refills is a typical V4L 808 blank carto good for and what do you look for to find out?

I'd also like to thank everyone who uses this forum for their sound and invaluable advice.

I use a lot of V4L cartos, and there are two variables that affect their lifespan.

The first is what you are vaping. Some juices really do a number on those cartos and fill them up with junk. Some juices are so bad that way that you literally have to clean the cartomizer before refilling to get decent taste. Other juices you can refill several times with no cleaning even. I have cartos I have refilled 7-8 times and are still working.

The second is your style of vaping. If you suck on it like crazy keeping lots of heat in there, a hole will get burned in the wick, resulting in the dreaded "e-juice in mouth" syndrome. Eventually this wick will burn through or the coil will burn through.

I use mine pretty conservatively. I use a manual battery and the button is depressed no longer than three seconds. I allow some time between each puff. As a result, my cartos last a long time. But if you get after it, you can literally burn a hole through the wick within just a couple of puffs.

So the variables are the juice and the vaping style. You might get just one use out of them, as many as 8 or somewhere in between.

I've had a box of pre-filleds that I have been using for 2 months. I refill them with the same juice. When the vapor or flavor start to diminish, top off. Never run one dry or it's toast.

How dark your juice is a varying factor. The darker, the shorter the lifespan. Clearer juices will make them last a long time.

When you start to feel like you are sucking a milkshake through a straw, they are done. You can clean or toss them...up to you.
