Hi I'm new to vaping in fact so far I'm not vaping just coughing. I posted in the ECF Newcomers forum & got a lot of helpful hints & then found this sub forum just for V4L so maybe someone here can help me.

I had 2 other kits, b/4 V4L, that were PG. I coughed & coughed. The forum members suggested VG so I sent the other kits back & ordered V4L. (Great customer service answered my questions thoroughly b/4 I purchased.)
Now I'm coughing & coughing with VG also...I've watched the videos, read the tutorials, I drink water, I don't inhale directly into my lungs, I have 8mgVanilla (& 11 mg Vanilla which I haven't tried yet)-- cough, cough, cough.
Anybody ever encounter this? I appreciate any & all help I can get. I really want this to work.

Welcome Nana !!! I've only had a cough trouble when I vaped too high a nic personally. or when I use the wow flavors and wow carts. I'm sure some one who knows more will be along soon to answer you better than I can. I hope you get to be able to vape better honey !! I use the premium and the cool carts only. Not having any trouble from them. Also, I use 4mg and 0 mg

I had a bit of coughing when I first started too. It goes away once your throat gets used to the vapor. For me it was not a PG/VG issue, just an issue of not being used to vapor instead of smoke.
Try this: take really little rips at first, especially when you are just starting out for the day, and let yourself get used to the vapor. Once you have done this for a while your throat and lungs will get used to inhaling vapor instead of smoke and it will be game on for billowing clouds of vape.

the wow carts burn hotter than the cool carts Nana. The premium and the cool carts will still give you a good vapor though. Plenty enough to satisfy you. The first wow cart I took a drag on I thought I was gonna cough my brains out..LOL, LOL !! If it doesn't get better for you, I'd try the other. I'm sure it's the time of day right now why more knowledgeable people haven't spoken up here. Hang in there, they will answer all your questions I'm sure of it !!

Nana, I agree with Darth. I don't think it's a PG/VG thing. It's alot different vaping instead of smoking, at least as far as your body is concerned. Just take little puffs, not real long, and see if that helps. It will probably take a little while, and when you get used to it you will be just fine. If it doesn't improve after another week of using small, not so deep inhaled puffs, and if it wasn't an issue with analogs, then there might be an allergic reaction thing going-on, and you might want to talk to your Dr. about it.

And try the premium/cool carts, like Anita recommended. Plenty of taste, TH, vapor. They are my preference ;-)

Thanks to all of you. I'll try the cool carts, and smaller draws as well as another flavor. The New people forum suggested Menthol & plain tobacco flavors. They also said Vanilla was tough to vape for a newbie...I also noticed a sale msg in my inbox from V4L so I'll go see what's up & I'll check in later when things are more active. :)

Welcome to the V4L family, Nana2B, and let us know how everything goes :) We really *DO* care :)

I had trouble with vanilla and the WOW carts and higher nicotine levels and almost gave up if not for the wonderful people here :) Try a 4mg or even a 0mg and then try increasing :)

Remember, coughing is also a way for your lungs to clear themselves of years of abuse so you will continue to have some coughing fits...but it does calm down :)

Do pay attention to a cough but don't be too concerned over little bouts of coughing :) Try the change-ups we suggested and GOOD LUCK :) We're here to help you :)

Kanza 0mg of PG made me cough which is 1 reason for thinking was VG would help. I wish I'd found this sub forum b/4 because you all vape V4L which narrows down the misc. replys. Not that I don't appreciate them all but referencing just what I'm using is so helpful.

Does anyone like the tobacco flavors or menthols? I think I should stick to what I'm used to for now :)

That sale msg from V4L is if you spend over $50...not for me this time

I agree with the above. The Wow carts can be a tad harsh. It's my experience that the tobacco flavors seemed stronger to me, but that might just be my experience. I do tend to like the spearmint because compared to some of the other flavors, it's very cooling, and I can vape it all day without getting the "hot mouth" as my neighbor calls it. I never smoked menthol cigs, and though I don't care for the menthol flavor that I tried, the spearmint is quite nice.

There's also a learning curve. It's different than smoking analogs, and just the act of vaping takes some getting used to. My neighbor is new, and he hits it hard the second drag because he's priming the atomizer with the first drag and doesn't get much throat hit (he's using an automatic). To make up for it, he takes too hard a drag the second time around and starts coughing. Hopefully it will get easier for you real soon.

Best of luck to you! And welcome. :)
Nana, If you'd like, pm me with your address and I'll pop a spearmint cart in the mail for you to try. Us Boston gals gotta stick together ;)

i haven't been at this long but the 11mg Premium Kamel works out nice for me. i tried a tobacco sampler & the only ones that i really liked were the Kamel & WOW Cowboy. i'd try out one of the tobacco samplers in a low/med nic range and see if that works better for you. Vanilla is a harsh thing even in tobacco...waaay back when i started smoking a pipe and the Vanilla tobaccos were more harsh than the others...say like Cherry???

    Nana,
Rappel's answer above made me think of something else. Are you using an auto batt? Perhaps switching to a manual will help...then you won't have to draw so hard. I know this helped me in the beginning.
At any rate, stick with it. It'll work for you soon. Good luck!
Good thought there Granny, you're right. At least that's the way I am too, I draw differently on an auto !

Oh, yeah...I forgot...another reason for coughing...allergies to blooming plants :) It's that season again...allergies change in people :) Plus...no smoking = possible increase in allergies :) My allergist (eons ago) was one who encouraged me to keep smoking to stop them :) Plus, your cilia will be healing and that brings on all sorts of sneezing, coughing, etc :)

There may be something to that Kanza - this allergy season has been the worst for me in years!

Can't really add much else to all the suggestions. I did find vaping hits my throat a bit differently and needed to figure out the ratio between too much vapor and not enough. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it Nana2B. Welcome to the family! :)
