I had my first opportunity to try a 510 today, a friend came over that has been using one for a few months so we sat down and compared.

He was amazed at how much better the VK tasted and how easy it was to use, while I was happily vaping away he was dripping, refilling and messing around. When I wanted to change a flavor I just screwed on a new carto while he had to change to dripping and then wait for the old flavor to burn off before tasting the new one.

He did manage to produce more vapor, most of the time. But I had consistent vapor and enough to make me grin.

Even using the same juices the VK won on flavor by a long shot.

He should be ordering soon! Thank you everyone on this forum for helping me choose the right ecig for me the very first time. If I had to start with a 510 I'd have probably given up on vaping long ago.

When I first started researching e-cigs, all I found were the ones that you had to do all that fussing with. Then I found the greensmoke web site and placed an order. THEN I found these forums and read the reviews and found several recommending the Vapor King. Well, V4L prices were much more reasonable, and you seemed to get a lot more for the money, not to mention all the color and flavor choices. I quickly cancelled the greensmoke order before it even had a chance to process (they promptly refunded the charge) and made my order with V4L.

I can't imagine doing all the "work" shown in that video just to get my nic fix. I'd rather smoke analogs than mess with that. I loves my Vapor King :)

It really puzzles me that the 510 has so many fans - and many of them are very dismissive of the VK/KR8. I don't get it. The litany of complaints from 510 users is predictable: fussing with filling mods, routinely getting mouthfuls of juice, frequent issues with bad atty's, etc. What exactly is so great about the 510?! It sounds like a nightmare to me. Are the 510 fans into pain?

The 510 is great for what it does, and is definitely a cheaper option for many people.

That said, if you are someone who is used to spending 5-10 dollars a day on smokes, then the financial shouldnt be the biggest issue..yet with vaping we tend to make it so.

I still fire it up on occasion to drip some new juice flavor I get my hands on.

It was when I first started, thats for sure....but over time, the need to stay a non-smoker became more important. If I spend 5 bucks a day on carts, I will call myself a lucky guy and SMILE.

While my vapor king xl's are my go to e-cigs I like my 510 too. You could say I am a fan of both. Both have advantages and while the kr808d-1 has more the 510 still has its place.

My VK has great battery life, one xl lasts me most of the day. The cartomizers are simple and easy to use. They last a long time and the flavor is superb. Everytime you swap a cartomizer you get a new flavor and its pure, no mixing due to shared atomizers. Things I don't care for at times are taking 8 second drags to get a big hit and nice vapor. I don't like breaking caps when refilling cartomizers. I dont like the performance of a end of life cartomizer but I don't like to waste so I use them up. The hits sometimes leave me needing a bit more so it leads me to chain vape at times.

Now the 510 is a 3 piece, so dripping is easy. It is a hassle but if you aren't on the go it is not that bad. Dripping makes very flavorful hits and while they arent quite as good as the vapor king at its best, dripping gives complete control and allows consistant performance and hits. It also makes tons of vapor. The atomizer gets hot so usually a 3 second puff is all that is needed and will make tons of vapor and a warm th. Under constant use the performance of a atomizer will stay at peak much longer than a cartomizer if used correctly. But the lack of a good liquid feed system means the atomizer will be dry more often and a dry atty tastes bad. The battery life is also quite bad on the 510 but I am getting a mod to get around that one. The carts are not very good so if you aren't keen on dripping then you will not like the 510 in my opinion. Cart mods can help with this but are more for the hobbiest in my opinion. I am a hobbiest and am playing with the zero filler mod on a cart as we speak lol. It can also be leaky but proper care can keep this to a minimum ( and a kleenex or rag). The vapor king never leaks on me.

sorry for the wall of text I just tried to cover all the bases. :(

Well, actually, no. As a 510 fan, I wonder, are all those KR8 pushers so much into burned plastic and fiddling around with a piece that is clearly not meant to be fiddeled with? I didn't need a video to show me how to take my 510 apart to refill it.

And I have only had one bad atty so far, and I ruined that myself. The way I vape, I have very serious doubts I would have made it so far with only one bad cartomizer. Or about 5 or 6, which amount to roughly the same price.

I have no clue why so many are into KR8s. Maybe it is a decent piece of equiptment. I may even try one once I am not running into the danger of inhaling burned plastic any more. But I can't for the life of it unterstand why the KR8ers think they found the holy grail, when their holy grail lets them regularly inhales burned plastic.

But then, there's no accounting for taste. Maybe its a particularly tasty plastic the KR8s burn.

Well so far in the 2.5 months I've been vaping I've thrown out three cartomizers. Only the first one was burned inside and that was because of my inexperience, in other words I ruined it myself. I could have saved one of my other ones but I wanted to see if it was also showing signs of burning inside and it was not. Based upon what I've seen with my usage I do not see any significant issues with burning. But then I also smoked for many years and put that in my lungs, I cook on teflon pans and I even microwave food in plastics upon occasion!

I haven't had the experience of the taste of atty primer fluid but I hear it's not exactly tasty. I wonder what's in it?

The KR8 has been perfect for me, and if you love your 510 and it's perfect for you that's wonderful, happy vaping. This post was about my feelings on the difference and why I'm glad I didn't have to deal with all the modding and fiddling and I'm still thrilled with my KR8 and my supplier!

I started out with an NJoy NCig (RN4071 a.k.a. 801 clone). It worked and got me off off analogs, but I didn't like how it always leaked. I had to carry a bottle of juice all the time because if I refilled the carts, they would leak.

I ordered an E9 kit and plenty of extras from a Chinese supplier. They tasted like vaping pure perfume and tasted burned after 11 or 20 drags. The batteries didn't last much longer.

Then I got a 510. It had all of the same issues as the NCig, plus the battery life was abysmal and the smaller carts gave out faster.

I got very tired of all the fiddling, trying to find a better way to get a good fill without leaking, always having to carry juice & napkins, my fingers always feeling sticky with juice, etc. Of course, both the NCig and the 510 had that nasty "primer" taste in the atty. Sometimes it too hours to get rid of it.

Then I ordered a few KR8 cartos from V4L. My first order was very small, but they still threw in some freebies, including a free PT. Within a couple of hours of opening the package, I new this was for me. I put in a big order that night and there's been no looking back.

The shorty batteries last a bit longer than the 510's, the regular length batts last quite a bit longer, and the XLs last longer than two 510 batts. There are no atty primer issues. Cartos last a good long time. When the flavor changes, I put on another non-leaking carto and keep going.

I can refill when and where I please. I can refill as many or as few cartos as I like. Put the plug and condoms on and they NEVER LEAK.

I gave all of my old stuff away. I have 2 battery mods that I have put adapters on so I can use them exclusively with my V4L cartos.

I'm done looking and will never consider a 3-piece. I've found my happy place.

I started out with a 510 and was very happy with the performance and the throat hit. I read and read up on the mods and made my decision to try one and bought the Chameleon, based on the fact I could try out the 4 (510-duh,801,901,carto) different atomizers that are the biggest sellers, using one device. Now that purchase, which I highly advise, led me to V4L. Now I had to buy good carto's. Not only did I purchase carto's but, a charging case with 2 auto bats. All my bats had been manual and thought I would like to try the auto, too. Love my v4l set-up. For ease it rates right up there. I really do not tend to overfill my 510 carts, or my 801's or the 901's. But you do have to refill these more often-lots more. The V4L set-up is perfection for someone who just wants to put the carto on and go-no fuss, no muss. When it's done, you have a choice....Throw it out (set it to the side for later) and screw on a new carto and keep on keepin on. I have days that that is what I want. Then there are other days I have nothing better to do but play with my e-cigs and I pull out the 510, great models, all of them.
Just take the time to research and think about the type of person you are. I love the vid on the previous page (pianoguy I think) posted. It should be a sticky as to why the
V4L is perfect for alot of people out there.

Exactly why can't people just pull out the cart from a 510 and put a new, filled one in? Does not sound like much more work than putting a new cartomizer into a KR8, either.

Maybe I'll shell out a few bucks for a KR8 after all - considering what I smoked for 29 years, I should not be afraid of some burned plastic, and if it comes to the worst, I'll have a few cool cart condoms and a cool 380 mAh battery.
