VA Cyclone Question....

I've been using a BF Cyclone for a little bit ow and I've been having a draining problem with thicker juices. I pretty much vape NicoTicket exclusively and have noticed that the Cyclone will clog up over time and the only solution to clear it is unscrewing the bottle and blowing air thru the top of the cap while blocking the air hole on the side of cap. Sometimes it takes a bit of pressure to clear the clog. Once the clog clears, all is good for a few hours till it clogs up again. I clean and rewick my REO Grand LP atleast twice a week. I also have cut a V at the bottom of the fill tube to ensure that isnt a problem.

My question is, has anyone drilled out the bottom hole in their Cyclone? I thought I read someone where that someone drilled out the fill hole to ensure better draining but I cannot find the thread I read that in. I really dont want to damage the Cyclone but the drainage issue is really annoying. Any help would be appreciated!

I bought and modded a cyclone a couple of weeks ago. Drilled a 1/16" hole from the bottom to just above the deck and a 1/16" horiz. hole at deck level. It squonks and drains great with max VG juice. Do you know what size the hole is in yours?

I don't know the size. I'll have to get the drill bits out and try to figure it out. All I know is that it is still stock.

Run something through it in case a piece of scrape from machining got caught in the hole. I remember somebody having that problem. Mine are original BF concave deck versions that I drilled a lower deck hole for.

The new ones have them drilled than the first version. I drilled right at the deck

Yes, here you can see they originally had the feed hole way to high, so I put it so half is above the deck and rest in the well. I used a 1/16 bit

I did mine similar to FB, not as big a hole though, but it works like it should. Note how low FB put his hole, that position is perfect.

So do you unscrew the bottom screw and that allows access to that low point of the pin?

Yes, and it's not easy. for the ones I've done I had to boil and then freeze to get the center pin to move. You are correct mine were threaded and not just press fitted.

Have you drilled SS before? multiple Carbide bits and cutting oil strongly suggested.

No I have not. Maybe I should just deal with it. Sounds like it may be quite the project between getting the pin out and then drilling the hole. Plus I don't have a drill press.

It's doable but bet you break several bits trying. You might want to send it to Chowder head and have him drill a lower hole for you.

What do you think about just enlarging the existing drain hole? Probably would be easier to do then starting a new hole.

So that didn't go so well. Ended up pulling the center pin out and now when I push it back in it sits loose. Some of the insulator is gone. Is it a lost cause or do you think it will be usable? I have it soaking in a cup of 100 proof vodka to give it a good cleaning. Had to borrow a RM2 from my neighbor.
