No. It will always show a number and a small 'v' or 'w', in both AVG (No1) and RMS (No2). The only way to tell is to switch it (holding a button for a long time) and, if needed, switch it back.

thread here that has a nice manual, but here are the basics:
The display is "##.# v/w"
The #s are your power setting, the small v/w on the right indicates VV or VW. (" 3.7v" or " 8.0w" etc)
Pushing left/right buttons scales the setting up or down
Holding left button shows battery voltage. Holding right shows atty resistance.
Holding either one for much longer switches between No1 and No2 - it shows the 'new' setting, so if you are in No2 (RMS, better) it will change to AVG (No1) and display "No1".
Holding both at once switches from VV to VW.
