but on the same note, i have 2 flat top efest 18350s and the plastic around the battery is too thick for them to make contact in the middle.

I have two sets of Efest 18350s and haven't run into that problem at all. Does Efest make different variations of their 18350 flat tops? I got mine from vapor beast and they look just like the picture. Do yours look the same or different?

Don't know about 18350's, but I recently run into a couple of Efest 18650 button-top, which won't make contact in my provari - even though they work fine in the vamo.

Under close scrutiny they turned out to have a shorter nipple compared to other Efest IMR button-tops I have, no vent holes in it, and a spelling error on the label ("Rchargeable", without the first E)... Either they're Efest knockoffs (yeah, that's a nice joke :)), or Efest's QA dept leaves a little to be desired.

Either way, I fully understand you can find a lot of variation among (supposedly) identical (supposedly) Efest batteries ;)

EDIT: here you can see the difference I'm speaking about...

Interesting—yet another variable to plug in when troubleshooting. :nah:

Yea, it sure looks like I stepped into a whole new world of strange with batteries now that I have a APV. Not as straight forward as twisting an eGo onto my little charger was. Only maintanace on that was wipping the connector with a q-tip to insure it was clean, lol.

I have to correct my former statement... it looks like the Efest 18650s 2000mAh I've got may be kosher, genuine Efest products.

I've eventually found Efest's official website, and their description/picture of the IMR 18650/2000 does match what I've received. Believe it or not, including the spelling error on the label

Here: Efest IMR 18650 V2 2000mAh 3.7V Rechargeable LiMn High Drain battery- button top - Efest

It still makes no sense to me that they can't be used on a provari v2 as they are, and I really don't like the missing vent holes on the positive button, but at least I can use them [on the vamo, that is] without worrying they'll blow up in my face.

sorry about the initial wrong info...

I just picked up a 18650 Efest for my Vamo.... looks just like the one on the right of your picture, except the one I got doesn't have the top nipple. Hope i got the right thing, shop by my pad didn't have ones with nipple tops. I charged it last night, but havn't put it in the Vamo yet.

Here's a pic of what i got:

a few pieces of tape on the battery should do, but it'd be better to (carefully) stretch the spring a bit.

and if you can, replace the spring... see if you have a bigger/tougher spring around, like a conic one from an old flashlight, or the like.

Hum, okay. I think the rattle is side to side, not up and down. But the spring is pretty weak as well. I've read about issues with it and people trying to strech it and replace it.

For a new spring, does it need to be the same size to fit on/around the center post? Or can it be a widder one that will just touch the underneath of the cap lossly without being attached with solder or anything?

Shipping is sort of high on that spring, unless you are buying other supplies.

I tried the .59 large battery spring from MadVapes because it looked like it would fit the center post on the cap, and it was only.59, but it''s the wrong size for the post, and it's too long.

I was able to make the cheap spring work and get the cap back on, but I am pretty sure it was putting too much pressure on the positive connector on the board.

Even though my Vamo came cheap, I don't want to damage it needlessly.

Are you talking about the Helix hot Spring here, or the one that came with it?
Does the Helix one fit without any modification to the spring? Also, does it not put to much pressure on the positive connector board like you mentioned trying to avoid?
