Vamo check-in and other tidbits...

So I just received my SS Vamo from Canvape, along with a T3 and various other goodies. Shipping, as usual, was lightning fast - received in less than two days.

A few observations:

  • The Vamo is big, it's strong, and it's a heavy hitter - going back to my Ego Twists after vaping this beast is like smoking cigarettes after a cigar, or putting on shoes after ski boots, or using an aluminum tennis racket after a new graphite one, or - well, you get the idea...
  • Build quality is solid, but with minor imperfections - the plastic screen has little scratches and my 510 connection was tilted off by 10-15 degrees, so I straightened it gently with a screwdriver...overall, the design is simple, elegant, and functional.
  • The Vamo and full-size Vivi Nova are a match made in heaven - I find that the the higher ohm heads (2.5-3.0 range) work better than the lower ones, but ymmv.
  • The Tabac T3's from Canvape (as well as T2's) seem to work nice as well - I plugged one of the 3 bottom air holes and removed a "flavour wick" as recommended on these forums. Remember that Kangers require a 510-Ego connecter to fit the Vamo...
  • Wattage mode is excellent - no more messing with Ego/Spinner dials - my sweet spot is 8.5-9.5 watts.
  • Using Panasonic 18650CH batteries - great so far - if you've never had a full-size APV, these batteries are big and heavy - they may look "AA"-sized in pictures, but in reality they're much beefier.

Overall cost to get set up is around $85+tax - $55 for the unit, $20 for two batteries, and $10 for charger. I also grabbed a bunch of 32ga Kanthal and silica wick (both $1/yard) to rebuild my Vivi and T3 coils - some great resources on these forums for that...

Congratulations on you purchase! :toast:

I'm using my Vamo on a Vivi nova and my sweet spot's at 4.5-5 watts. I tried 6w on a vivi nova with 1.8ohm head and got a burnt taste immediately. I checked the coil and noticed that it has burned the wick so I rebuilt it and it worked great, but after reading ninja's instructions and warning about shorts, I threw it away and decided to just buy new ones from now on.

I just ordered a genesis DID clone from canvapes and it should be arriving this week.

Funny that our "sweet spot" differs so much - though I find with 1.8ohm or similar LR heads you need to dial it down by 1.2-2 watts.

Good luck with the DID - that will be my next venture, though I'm leaning towards the AGA-T+...

Rock on!!!

Congrats Dyckie! I’m picking up the novo mini and regular in the next day or so and trying to decide on a new battery pack.
I like to buy local and really my options are the big ego twist in 1000 or the eVic. The VAMO I think is half the price of the eVic but it should function as well if not better?

I would wholly recommend the Vamo at this point - same functions as the eVic, though without the software bells and whistles.

Also, my experience with Canvape has been nothing short of stellar. I've noticed some new Canadian retailers on here, but their respective pricing and selection always seems to fall short. I also hear that Canvape should have some nifty mech mods coming soon.

For the price, the Vamo is the way to go. I've got 2 of them. Also have an eVic. They all have their place and I couldn't imagine not having them all.

I like the sturdiness/bulk of the Vamo, and take it to work with me. It's been knocked over a few times on our shared desk and keeps on going. I think I'd panic a bit if that happened to my eVic.

I love the compact size of my eVic, with all the power using an 18650 battery. It's light and fits perfectly in my hand. I really like the shape of it. This baby is my stay at home P.E.N.I.S.

On a budget or an entry to VV/VW I would recommend the Vamo hands down. If you have a bit more to spend and like the bells & whistles.... eVic is the way to go.

So far, no problems with any of the above. They all came from Canvape, and I'm sure they will continue to take care of me as they always have in the past.
