I received my replacement VAMO today, and I'm ecstatic to report there's a huge difference between the two. So far I've tested on a Kanger T2 short wick, and the Kanger Protank 2 previously noted in this thread. There's been a significant improvement in how it handles to both tanks.
I was surprised to be able to move the Protank up to 7 watts on a 2 ohm coil and still get some solid results. Hypothetically I should be able to get to 8 and still be in the higher temperatures of the good flavor zone, but I didn't have the guts today. :D

Thanks to everyone for the help, I'd have probably still be pulling my hair out trying to figure out the problem.
Extra special shout outs to JeremyR and BaDaBooM.

Oh your so lucky I cant go above a 3.0 and its always burnt type taste no matter what I do, trust me I tried everything? I use a Protank on it? Any I ideas Its also the Vamo 5 in Stainlss steel and brand new

Not sure if you read this, but the OP returned his Vamo and the new works much better. Could be some bad ones out there, best of luck. Also did you try the RMS/Mean setting I mentioned on the first page?

Where would I find a Protank coil with that high of wattage? They told me at one place the highest is under 2.8ohms?

Hi nicomccart67,

coils are built to a certain ohm (resistance). The resistance basically tells you how much power it will take to get the coil warm. Generally in wattage mode you can count on a range of about 4 to 8 watts being in a good "flavor zone". 4 being a little cool, and 8 being pretty hot. Of course it varies by taste, and that's not necessarily always true. For this though, it's a pretty good rule.

All that shouldn't be confused with volts, the volts a coil takes will vary on what ohm the coil is. For a 2.8 coil you're looking at 3.4 to 4.75 volts.

Like SirSteve said though, best to make sure you're in RMS mode with your VAMO as well.

Hope that helps!
