Vamo shrinked part two - The transformer

A couples week ago i had a short on my Shrinked Vamo. It was my fault , jesus it came hot!
Did not have time to repair, it so I bought a VTR And I like it a lot but i missed my Vamo And my rda IGO.

Since I have some parts here and there, I made an another holder for my vamo.

The best things about it is that I can use what I want on it, so it is now a tranformer And it cost me nothing at all.
And a lot easier to do Than my first version.

I liked this before reading the first sentence or seeing any pics.

In thinking more and more about doing something similar just for ego batteries but suitable for taking on a plane.

This is very cool, indeed. Dumb question: How does the Vamo come apart below the "fire button section" ??

Yes below the fire button. It is press fit, you have to used something gentle to take it appart or just use your hand slowly move left And right.

Only issue I see there is returning to reliance on the evil 510 on the baseplate. Also, a BOM (with links) would be preferable - maybe we can get a round of new mods kicking out on the quick & cheap.

So with a good froster bit and a drill press you can cut aluminium plates? This would be fun, never done this. I'll have to get a drill press though...

Is "Did" a mechanical mod that just happened to fit the threading of the vamo head?

I guess it would be easiest if I learn how to cut threads myself. I think I saw a thread here about tools for cutting threads, but obviously searching for "thread" on this forum isn't going to cut it

In fact you can use what ever old attys parts that have a 510 thread as long as you have a froster bit de good size for a press fit.


And yes you can use even better tap And dies.

If the Forstner bit is HSS it should do for aluminum well enough, but won't last as long as with wood. I still want to have a try at this with only a 510 for the eGo side. My travel ego contraptions did really poorly last time around, truly embarrassingly so.

But the point is that hé does not want a vamo, he wants a stand for an evic.

@Tourlounette: What did you do to the bottom of the Vamo head so it fit on the 510 pin of the base? And what is your mech?

I had an old broken vamo. Toke the top part of it, solder at the bottom of my good one And press fit. That's it!

And for the mech, i used my chi u that i like, but you can use whatever you want.

Be sure to not screw the vamo up side down thought... I used it because i had it!


Would be better to used something like that instead.
