That's why I asked about battery type...
I can heat up IMR 18350s as well @ 8-11W.
Considering those can get warm, an ICR could probably get pretty hot.

i am using a efest 18650 imr battery and i chain vape at around 8.5 to 9.5 watts and using rsst around 2.3 to 3.0 ohms

Yep, you're drawing a lot of power.
If you're chain vaping at those levels, I would consider getting a couple of 18650's or stacking your batteries.

You're vaping in the same range I do.
My AW and Efest 18350's get warm (not excessively hot) if I'm chain vaping.
My Panasonic CGR18650CH's don't get as warm. They have a higher amp rating as do other high drain 18650's.

I mostly stick with 1 battery, either 18650 or a single 18350 in shorty mode. I've heard about needing to make sure the drain on both batteries are the same or else you can run into problems. If you're running 2x 18350 and one is draining faster than the other, it's possible you're getting some kind of resistance issue between them, which would cause heat. That position is right where the two batteries would be connected to each other... there's nothing else in that area that should be causing resistance issues (the only thing that'd cause heat).
