Which is better?
As far as gotchas.. As far as what you can see and hear on some of the reviews on Utube and some over here....

Interested in what is your actual findings are.. I've seen some complaints of the thing turning itself off, loose battery and such.

What is your actual use is like? A couple of bucks is not going to make or break me but I rather have a device that is solid and not full of gremlins.

Thx........ :)

the v3 seems a little undercooked at the moment. neither one is perfect but is seems the majority of problems are with the v3. im sure it will calm down once they get a rev2 v3

i hate changing what i have on my sem and provari so the vamo i got sees drippers changed and such all day mostly. i also use it as a quick ohm checker for rebuildables.

I'm glad I stumble upon this thread, right now I'm taking the step up to an APV and have been trying to decide between Smoktech's SID, Vamo V2, or Vamo V3. I think this narrows it down a bit. What about issues with the Vamo V2? I've heard about it not working with Protanks, and that's all I use.

I guess I'll end my post with a simple question: Should I go with the Smoktech SID or the Vamo V2?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

The Vamo is pretty simple in design, its only 3 buttons and fully featured. As long as you're familiar with voltage/ohms/watts/etc. I'd say you'd be fine with the Vamo. That being said, I don't own one, I am speaking from a point of reference. My best friend has a Vamo V1, Provari Mini, and a Zmax. Out of all 3 of those devices I found the V1 to be the easiest to use. The Provari is a vapor beast, but way out of my price range (and if I remember correctly, the Provari lacks VW function, so if that's a dealbreaker for you then ignore the Provari)

The Vamo loose battery issue has been resolved with the revised V2. When I bought mine the seller (fastech) stated that the version of the V2 that I was purchasing was the latest version. They beefed up the spring to hold the battery a little tighter is all.

I really like my Vamo V2. I have dropped it on concrete several times. I use the variable Watt option for best results. It is a powerhouse. It has all the bells and whistles at a great price, and would not hesitate to buy this one.

It has turned off on me a couple of times without warning, but I just turn it back on and goes weeks without happening again.

I've had a Vamo V3 since early August. It's a very nice device and I'm quite satisfied with it. The threading issue is not something that's a deal breaker. You just have to take reasonable care in attaching devices. I pretty much keep an X10 or Protank I or II on it and don't really do a lot of swapping.

The V3 also improved the durability of the finish. It is a noticably thicker plating over the brass. I have the black chrome version and a stainless steel V3 on that slow boat from China.

The V3 electronics are now being mounted in the V2 body, and they're calling it the V4. Some people didn't care for the style of the V3 but liked the improved electronics.

Whoever the manufacturers are, they get a thumbs up from me for listening to consumer feedback and adjusting the design and function as appropriate.

I see you own an X10 and protank . . . Does you know if the bases are interchangeable? I dropped my Fasttech X10 and snapped off the threads. Was hoping to just replace the bottom with Replacement base for Pro Tank since my last order is hung up in Hong Kong.

Since I received my V3 a couple of months ago, my V2 has been sitting in a drawer. The display is much better and the swirly design, which I hated to look at in the photos, is not very noticeable in person. In fact, it gives the user a much better grip.

I had a few threading issues with the V2, especially with tanks, but everything fits nicely on the V3. The removable top cap is also nice if you use cartos as it makes them much easier to get on/off without unscrewing the unit and getting juice all over your hands.

Knowing what I know now, I would say the V3 is a clear choice over the V2. Or V4, for that matter.

I have a vamo v2. That is only thanks to a very kind lady i met on here. I love the thing. i use it almost exclusively.
I have had no problems other than overtightning my tanks and pushing the pin down, and thats a simple fix. For a starter mod, its perfect. i honestly dont see why i will ever need anything else but thats me. The v3 is saposed to have a better board.. and the v5 is the v3 board with the v2 body and Very minor adjustments. Personally as i said, i LOVE my v2. I use a Glass Davide tank on it, which takes evod long or short chimney attys. It will not go sub ohm but i dont see the point in all that stuff anyhow.

I hope this helps.

I've owned the V2 for 9 months and the V3 for 2 months. V2 buttons a bit flakey. V3 PCB seems to be a better build quality and the buttons have a more solid feel when I click them. V3 screen far better and I like the fact they removed the N01 setting. As for the connector threads never had a problem with either V2 or V3 but I was aware of issues so I've been very careful. Tube threads I use Noalax on them and have had no probs.

Also, is the Vamo V1 even worth looking at? I found one at a B&M for $35 and have been thinking about going back there to pick it up.

V1 not only had loose rattling battery issues but also a spring that was too thin and caused issues/ overheating, etc. Vendors received a thicker gold replacement spring.

I'm sorry I missed this.

The bases are not compatible, but the X10 does take Kanger ProTank/Evod heads, if that's any consolation.

I have a Vamo V3 and personally I love it. I would have preferred a plain body with no swirls, but when I ordered I wasn't aware of such options lol. I have never had any issues with my V3 turning itself off, no fit issues with the threads, no battery issues with it, no significant complaints at all. The one thing that I wish they had done is made it so that when a battery was changed, the V3 would remember what you set it to display when you were taking a vape. I prefer to have it show my battery voltage so that I can keep any eye on it and check it whenever I want without fiddling around. I use the V3 at work, so I can't be seen messing with menus all the time to see if my battery is dead yet or not. That right there, is my biggest complaint. I will update if I find any other issues, but so far, after a couple months of vaping on the Vamo V3, I haven't found anything to make me begin searching for another VV/VW mod. Hope this helps you out. :)
