the vamo uses pulse width modulation, which means it fires between 0v and 6v with the spacing varying depending on the voltage setting you have it on. basically it fires at 6 volts but for different amounts of time if that makes sense? PWM PVs will always seem to fire higher bc of that.

sorry, i cant really put into words what im trying to say :p

It means this. When the Vamo is delivering 4.5 volts, it is actually delivering 6 Volts 75% of the time, and 0 volts 25% of the time. All of the 33hz mods do this. This is okay, but not the best way to deliver 4.5 volts, since it has a higher peak than it needs to and there is some loss of power efficiency. Not to bash on the Vamo, cause I own one. I just use it a lot less than my eVic and my Provari. For the price you pay it has a lot of features, a reasonably smooth interface, and a high amp limit. Personally I feel the amps over 3.5 are not necessary for my vaping profile, but some people like being able to go up to 5 amps.

I do not know anything about the mechanical mods you have referenced so I have no idea why they cost what they do.

I think the main thing here is you've just narrowed down which device you own that is vaping the best for you. So, keep on using the VAMO.

Mechanical mods will cost more because they are "boutique" like items that are not mass produced in a Chinese factory. They are more customizable, and for more advanced vapers who enjoy having the ability to let's say vape off of a sub-ohm coil for example (which can be a bit dangerous if you don't know what your doing from what I hear.)

I graduated from a lost/stolen twist to the VAMO. It's simple, cheap, reliable, consistent, and vapes anything I put on it like a champ (well anything above 1.2 ohms but I'm really not into that stuff.) It works, and certainly killed any Gear Acquirement Syndrome I may have had. The only other device I'd consider picking up is when something even smaller/lighter than the VAMO in single 18350 mode comes along with VV/VW for a portable/stealth PV.

Your wish for stealthy, although not 18350, is Innokin’s command. The new iTaste has VW is an eGo-sized PV. Thread with reviews and links for where to buy here.

I think the # you own was questioned because you (and apparently, almost everyone else replying to you here), don't seem to understand what a mechanical mod's use and benefits are.

Your Vamo Hits harder because it is a regulated device pumping out higher Wattage.
This you've been told, here... but i'll elaborate...

Your mechanicals would hit harder if you put a coil on them that produced more wattage...
They CAN produce FAR more wattage because they are not regulated like the vamo.

Your vehicle analogy is perfect:

Vamo = Automatic Transmission Japanese Luxury Car (Lexus, Acura, etc.)

Provari = Automatic Transmission European Luxury Car (BMW, Mercedes, etc.)

High End Mechanical = Manual Transmission Super Car (Lamorghini, Ferarri, etc.)

From your posts, you seem to be expecting 'a ferarri to perform well... without ever shifting gears'

Try a 0.8 coil on a freshly charged mechanical and then come back and compare it to the Vamo.

My new cheap mechanical, KTS Telescopic Storm, vapes better than my VAMO at EQUAL watts, and that was even before I sanded down the chrome contacts to the brass. The smooth current makes for a better experience than the rattle-snake vape of the VAMO. I like it best so far with a 1.3-1.6 ohm coil. Did a 1.1ohm, which hit's a little harder than I like with a fully charged battery, but I keep my dripper holes small and higher wattage works better with more air-flow than I desire. The 1.1 hits nice when the batt gets down to 3.9 volts.

But please don't do this until you are sure you know how to do it safely.

yes yes, thank you...

I'm normally the board's proponent of SLR safety... That's quite possibly the first time I've ever got the "safety hand slap"... LOL

Thanks.

Actually I left for a couple weeks and just came back on here and I'm kinda appalled at what I'm seeing... far too many noobs trying Mechs and SLR vaping... people who seem to have no idea what they are getting into. I fear for them.
