I understand your confusion and what you're asking.. I have 3 mechs and I only use them with rba's that I've built with coils metering .8 or .9.. the mech gets it's power from the battery that's in it, meaning that you won't get the higher voltage that you can with your vv/vw vamo. batteries come off the charger at 4.2v but when you put them in a device, there is a voltage drop (varies by the device) so you might get 4v to the coil on a fresh batt. Then the voltage goes down as the batt inside of it discharges. The reason many of us like the mechs, is their ability to run the super low resistance coils.. your vamo won't run an rba with a coil metering .8 ... it would tell you that the resistance is too low and most vv/vw devices have safety features built in that makes it difficult to setup and super low resistance device, especially those with SS mesh. Also, many of the VV/VW devices have amp limits and wattage limits that limit how much "power" they can give, but a mech can run a super low resistance coil, resulting in more wattage than the vamo can give. I have several silica rebuildables and I build them at a higher resistance (1.5ohms and up) and I use them on my VV devices.

I would imagine your protank has a resistance of around 2.5ohms and putting it on a mech, well.. the vape would be way too "anemic" for me. You could put a "kick" in your mechs and then set the kick to what ever wattage you want and that would give you way more "power".. up to 10 watts.

If I ever get tired of using low resistance coils in genesis attys, I'll either sell my mechs or invest in some kicks. There is the original Kick which runs around $45 and then there's the clone that I linked to above.

Your vehicle analogy is perfect:

Vamo = Automatic Transmission Japanese Luxury Car (Lexus, Acura, etc.)

Provari = Automatic Transmission European Luxury Car (BMW, Mercedes, etc.)

High End Mechanical = Manual Transmission Super Car (Lamorghini, Ferarri, etc.)

This is the perfect comparison... Love it!

Yikes! I have 7 of them.

Me too! :toast:

I also own the ol' "Vammy" and can say it still gets used daily. And I own 2 SuperT P+'s, a Poldiac Uma, two GUS 22's and a KTS telescopic storm. The Vamo is a workhorse of a mod. I've dropped it on concrete, had it slide off a car into a parking lot, even took it out fishing and got caught in a storm. Still goin' strong and I've had it for months now... ;) I mostly save my fancier mods for going out on the town, to a bar...or to the local vape shop. :)

yep. My "beater" rig is a Vamo, with a 1.4 ohm Chobra RBA on top. On the other hand, I have a couple mechanicals that never leave the relative safety of the carpeted floor in my cave. One is my Poldiac Aname.
