Quick question if anyone knows... I see some vamo's with metal buttons, and some with plastic buttons. I thought the plastic buttons ment it was a version one, but I've seen people with plastic buttons still say it's a version 2.

Are there version 2's with the new mod? NO2 setting.

Edited the bad auto correct spelling... didn't notice it at first.

Vaporbeast states the v2 has metal buttons. I'll let you know when mine gets here.

I spoke with Tim at Vapor Beast before he ordered his v2s. At that time the manufacturer offered him the option of either silicone or metal buttons. There is no way of knowing for certain what options the manufacturer has been offering since. I don't think what type of buttons a VAMO has is necessarily a good indicator of what version it is.

The first version of the VAMO did not have an insulator in the inside around the positive post and had a 6 watt bug that caused a power surge. Also, I believe it had a short, skinny, wimpy spring in the battery cap but I'm not sure about that.

The v2 VAMOs had the 6 watt bug fixed and had a red insulator around the positive post. The V2 chrome versions were introduced with a longer skinny, wimpy spring that allowed many 18650's to rattle. The stainless version had a stronger, larger diameter steel spring but that spring had a high resistance problem that caused the battery cap and batteries to get too hot.

The VAMOs shipping now should have a sturdy copper battery spring, no 6 watt bug and the positive post inside the VAMO should have an insulator around it.

Thanks for putting this together. I was a little surprised to find no manual with the Vamo, and this was the first reference I found. It covers everything I needed to get up and running.

I received a manual with my Vamo. I just received my Vamo less than a week ago but there was a user manual with pictures in the box with the Vamo. I purchased the kit with batteries and charger. Maybe that is why I got a manual?

I got one of the chrome v2's with the wimpy spring... its not as bad as I though it was gonna be, havnt even replaced it yet. Button top batterys move around less, and a little tape around the battery keeps it from side to side rattle caused by the wimpy spring... but I just need to get a new spring one of these days.

I also have one of the SS v2 you talk about with the bigger spring you mentioned. I got it about 2 months ago. How bad is the cap and battery heat issue on it? I don't use it yet since I'm kinda saving it until my chrome one dies or I drop it or a rainny day kinda thing. Just currious as to how damaging it is to the batterys? Also, will the color of the spring let me know weather or not its the new one or the old steal one?... I'm assuming if its gold or bronze color I'm good to go, if its the same color as the vamo its the old stainless one that gets hot?

Thanks for all the help man!

Can understand dropping it and breaking it .... but has anyone ever had a vamo die? Seems that's the argument the provari recommenders always fall back on... "its quality & wont die like a cheap import". Don't get me wrong, love to have a provari, just have a hard time thinking a vamo has a shorter life than a provari.

I know a few friends with vamo's and none have died yet, but I have read about a few that did. I think with a provari, if it dies they will fix it for free... unless it dies from the user doing somthing stupid. I could be wrong on that though.

I'd actually buy a provari if they had variable wattage. I just can't believe the new ones don't come with variable wattage.

I got my V2 today and promptly busted a clearo. It was 2.2ohm and I put 4.5 volts through it. It worked for a few tugs then stopped. I then tried an Ego-T at home, don't know what ohm rating it was but it didn't like 10 watts and duly died as well. Is there a chart (like the one on Totally Wicked) around here anywhere to show what watt/volts/ohms you should use? First visit to this section so haven't looked yet. My V2 also came with instructions but they never included RMS and EVG mode.

Another grateful customer Darth.

Set it to NO2 mode, then set it to watts. With clearos and carto tanks I usually vape at 6 watts. I use 6 watts for just about everything that's not SS mesh. 10 watts is way to high imo for the devices you have on it.

I'll see if I can find that chart I had laying around, you can probably search ecf abs find what your looking for. But try out 6-7 watts and you should be fine.

When the battery cap/battery heating issue arose Health Cabin put a notice on the front page of their site not to use the stainless VAMOs with the steel springs until replacement springs could be sent. I assume that means that the steel springs are not safe to use.

You can either request a replacement from your vendor or buy one of these springs (same spring, different names). Those springs are made from heavier wire than the copper replacement spring I got from Health Cabin so I continue to use them. You have to pull the bottom of the spring out just a little bit to make a tight fit in the battery cap. I just added one of the springs to my chrome VAMO without removing the wimpy spring. It works perfectly with no rattling or heating issues.

Hot Spring - Silver Bullet / OmeGa
HeliX hot spring
Silver Bullet/Omega - Replacement Hot Spring

Cool, I'll have to pick a few up. Gotta see what color my spring is on my SS vamo, didn't get it from health cabin our vaper break... Not sure if the place I got it from changed the spring to a hit spring or not. Probably not
