So got the rda last night and tried a few times with the wick and I did get great flavor off of the thing but did notice that when I would take the top cap off and fire it some spots on the mesh would glow red. I would drop juice on the mesh and wick dry fire and the red spots are gone and getting great flavor.
But I shouldn't be getting any hot spots at all is this due to not enough cotton?

I suspect you're right on the lack of cotton. I use the "Scottish roll" technique outlined by vaping with vic here:

The only real difference is I use all but about 1cm of a Muji pad to work with.

Have had 3 VV Mesh RDA's ever since they first came out... 1 each SS, Black and Gold. They have been included in some of my rotations ever since. I like them just fine for both squonking and dripping on mech's and regulated... except for the almost no drip well.

Enter 2 Digiflavor Mesh Pro RDA's (a 3rd one is inbound). They take my mesh vaping to a higher level and are in use 24/7 on regulated squonk and dual series batt TC mods.

I also really enjoy my Vandy Vape Mesh bf Rda only I’m using Geekvape Nichrome Fused Claptons. Haven’t tried with the mesh yet.

I agree only drawback is the shallow juice reservoir. But I’m really enjoying the airflow & flavor.

I have endless atty's for wire coils, so nothing but mesh has ever been in any of my VVM and DMP RDA's. I love the mesh builds I'm using in them (.12Ω to .15Ω), so don't see ever running anything but mesh in them. I tried out Ni80 mesh for a short time in one of the VVM's, but I've been running SS316L mesh in all of mine.

The DMP's have an ample reservoir and a more versatile AFC than the VVM's. I would venture to guess that more companies are going to dive into the mesh RDA market as well, and that's exciting. ATM the DMP's have the top shelf IMO.

Squonking and dripping the DMP's is a breeze. No leak worries at all with them unless you go way overboard. I like the AFC's better as well. On another note, I get a little joose buildup under the VVM's (condensation?, cap o-ring leak?, or?), but don't get any with the DMP's.

The VVM's get a thumbs up plus, but the DMP's get a thumbs up X 10.
