Okay! Now that I've put away the axe and the chainsaw from trying to get these out of the packaging, here's what I have: Coconut (a known quantity; I use it regularly in one of my fave recipes, so needed to stock up); Shisha Strawberry (I have two other Inawera strawberry flavors, but have come across several rave reviews of this one, so I had to try it); Bahraini Apple Gold (again, I have other apples, but ordered just because so many people seem to love it); Shisha Pineapple (I've been having trouble finding a really good pineapple flavor -- including the regular Inawera pineapple -- so will be giving this a try); Pink Panther (hm! intriguing! smells nice, I think ... but I have no idea what to expect); Cactus (I don't know why I bought this! I must have heard something that made me want it for some reason, but it now totally escapes me. It smells ... unusual? A little scary? Hmmm.)

If anyone has any thoughts, opinions, tips, or suggestions for percentages (or drops), or steeping times, or recipes using any of these, I'd love to hear them!

Inawera Cactus is my new favorite flavor!!! I keep it around 0.3% to 0.5% in fruit mixes - it brings out a lovely juiciness. I find at over 0.5% it starts to take over other flavors. At 1% it's all I can taste. I've been working on a Cactus Mango Cooler mix - almost there, just a bit more tweaking. :)

I'll post that cactus cooler recipe in a day or two - I mixed another batch tonight, upping the cactus to 0.6% and I think I may finally be there. I've been taking it up slowly because as I say, cactus can drown out other flavors.

Now that Pink Panther looks very interesting to me. I found a description of:

VERY fruity and pleasantly refreshing. Experience the mouth-watering fruity explosion from the Pink Panther. The perfect vape for fruity lovers looking for an exciting new tang on their taste buds. Strawberry, Rhubarb & Redcurrant.
  • Mixing Guidelines: 2-5% to start, personal taste may require more
That looks like something I would like to try but I'm not finding it here in Canada at any of the DIY websites I use. I could order directly from Inawera but have trepidation's about that as someone else here on ECF said their shipment of Inawera flavors is/was being held in Canada Customs.

Ugh! I face that issue so much in the EU trying to order anything from US/Canada. PP is one of a handful of new flavors from Inawera that came out in the summer, so maybe it's just taking some time for it to become stocked by overseas vendors.

I'm very pleased with Pink Panther! It's a shake and vape for me (I tried it at 1 drop per 1 ml base), though it will be interesting to see what happens with steeping. It's a very nice, distinct but not overbearing, somewhat unusual fruity flavor, thanks to the rhubarb, and seems like it will be a very interesting mixer. I think it will inspire your creativity!

The Strawberry Shisha also turned out to be excellent, as expected; also a shake and vape (again mixed at at 1 drop per 1 ml base), and super nice when I mixed it in the tank with an ice cream flavored juice I had on hand. I can see why this is a must-have.

Not too keen on the Bahraini Apple Gold directly after mixing. I tried this at a lower percentage, 6 drops in 10 ml of my base, and to me it had an annoying aniseed-like undernote, and I detest aniseed. I'll let it sit and see what happens with that.

Now looking for a recipe to try the cactus in, and have yet to sample the Shisha Pineapple.

That Bahraini Apple Gold sounds good to me - I like aniseed but just a hint, otherwise it's also a flavor that can take over the other flavors in a mix. The DIY website I use doesn't have it but does have Golden Apple Shisha.

I did a big flavor order today and picked up 3 more Inawera's: Creme Brulee, Biscuit and Marzipan. Can't wait to try them. I'm sure they will eventually get PP as they are adding new flav's all the time. A little prodding from me can't hurt. ;)

And it may be a bit longer till I part with my Cactus Mango Cooler recipe - I just don't have it dialed in yet. The 0.6% cactus seems too much now, maybe 0.5% was better after all. I think I'm going to have to let it steep for at least a week before I make the final call. The recipe has TPA Mango, CAP Juicy Orange, CAP Golden Pineapple, Cactus and Ethyl Maltol as a smoother. I threw some TPA Dragonfruit (also as a smoother) in this last batch and I think I have to take it back out. I probably should have just upped the Ethyl Maltol. So many variables, so little time lol.

Okay, that sounds totally yummy! I'll definitely try this once you're happy.

The recipe I've been fiddling with that isn't quite there is:

IW peach 2%
IW banana 2%
PA toasted marshmallow 2 %
PA coconut 1% (I would normally use IW here; I was just out when I started this)
PA sweet cream 1%
PA cotton candy 1%

It's promising, but too strong and too sweet. I need to remove the cotton candy and/or sweet cream, I think, and I need to bring the banana down because for me it's a bit too prominent. It also needs some little nudge of something different, maybe more sour or acidic or something. I was thinking of adding a tad of kiwi (which I don't have) or dragon fruit, but I wonder if a drop of your magic cactus would help? Hmmm.

I want it too be light, airy, creamy, peachy clouds -- without being a Peach with a big "P" vape -- and it's too heavy right now.

Anyway, there are maybe the bones for something decent here. Need more inspiration from the vapefairy. Vape muse? Vape oracle?

That looks like a nice flavor combo - I have everything except the IW Banana and IW Peach. A drop of cactus might not hurt - hard to say. I've avoided mixing the cactus with creams as to my taste I don't think they would mix well. I could be completely wrong, I just haven't tried it yet. I do have another cactus recipe done up but yet to try called Cactus Cream Cooler that omits the mango and subs in some TPA Sweet Cream and TPA Bavarian Cream to go with the orange and pineapple.

I was eyeballing the IW Banana for my last order but couldn't justify it because I already have 4 bottles of other banana's here and should probably use them up before I get any more. They're all small bottles but I find any banana flavors go a long way.

"light, airy, creamy, peachy clouds".... yup, sounds good. I hear White Peach is supposed to be dynamite but I don't have any of that yet. I may have to order a sample size in the near future. We have a website here in Canada where you can order 10 sample sized 3ml bottles for only $3 shipping. 3ml is just enough to make up 2 or 3 10ml mixes so you can try the flavors without breaking the bank. They just started carrying Inawera flavors and I notice they have one called Cactus Lime. I kinda sorta vowed to not order any more flavors for a while...but..... I guess I'll have to see lol

So apparently there's some mysterious hypnotic fugue state that overcomes people and makes them buy inawera cactus for unknown reasons. As I was seeking around looking for recipes that use it, I come across this comment by b.m.: "My 1 extreme oddball that i have no clue at all why i bought it is Inawera cactus.I've read that it's good, and one day i will try it,but for the life of me,absolutely no clue what it was ordered for haha."

heh. :tumble:

Here are a couple threads- The recipe one isn't too long but there are some good ones in there. Inawera Shops DIY Recipes The big thread also has some recipes. Inawera- a few reviews
I also bought Cactus. It tastes to me like the Aloe Vera juice drinks. Meh. I also didn't really care for the Bahraini Apple, but Two Apples is awesome.

Yeah that's a funny thing... somebody else said that too yet I don't taste that at all. I dislike those aloe vera drinks as well (I guess it depends on the brand but I only tried it once and went YUK). I've used cactus now mostly with mango and other tropicals like guava, dragonfruit, pineapple, lime and lemon. I've been tweaking another recipe with just guava, pineapple, lemon and cactus. Part of my problem is I am trying to tweak about 10 different recipes at the same time when I should probably concentrate on just one. And when I mix a new one I like it to sit for at least 3 or 4 days till I try it (preferably longer). I just noticed this morning that I have a mango/cactus concoction here that I made on Nov 1st. I think it's time to try it again (yes, I forgot about it lol)

When you do try to use the cactus just remember to start very low then work your way up. I tend to think it's probably one of those flavors that people either really like or really hate.

Okay, cleaned my tank, rewicked and dry burned the coil - lol - so much work but so worth the reward.

Put 3ml of this Nov. 1st test liquid into the tank and BAM! Something so completely different and unexpected my jaw nearly hit the floor. Now I remember why I threw it to the back of the steeping drawer:

1) a couple of days after making it there was waaaaaaay too much cactus, just way too much and I thought it was ruined and
2) I couldn't get the child resistant (a.k.a. ADULT PROOF) cap off after that so I threw it to the back and forgot about it... it's a 10ml test bottle so I'm not going to lose sleep over it

Now 3 weeks later it's different, *WOW* different.

I'm gonna call this:

WANGO MANGO TANGO (thank you Ted Nugent)

INW Cactus 1.0%
TPA Dragonfruit 2%
TPA Peach (Juicy) 1.75%
CAP Golden Pineapple 1.25%
TPA Mango 5%
INW Mango 4%
CAP Sweet Guava 2%
TPA Sweetener 1%

Strength: 5 mg
PG/VG-ratio: 35/65
Flavor total: 18%

The cactus is still very prominent but no longer overpowering. I'm a mango maniac - always looking for my next mango fix... this is really green, very different from a sweet red mango mix (which is one of my ADV's). A nice change to be sure.

You seem to like a lower flavor percentage than me but can take this for inspiration. After 40 years of smoking I think my taste buds are mostly dead so I usually do my mixes up between 15% to 20% (I know not everyone likes their flavors that strong but I've seen some recipes pushing 30%). Of course it also depends which brands you are using - some are stronger than others.

So the moral of this story is: Inawera Cactus needs to steep for several weeks
If you want to shake and vape it, keep it really low ;)
