Hello all

Just wondering looking for a upgrade from my pen vape, looking for something decent and has a good battery (most important for me) was looking at the alien smok if anyone has tried? Just one question I have with this vape why is there so many watts and what is the advantages being higher watt or lower watt if anyone could answer?

Thanks all.

A great reason for two batteries in a mod is long battery life.

But then some people vape at 150 wstts. I am a tootle puffer and never go above 12 watts.

Higher watts allow the use of coils that have more surface area and take more to get to the same temp as smaller coils with thinner gauge wire. This is not real but just a for instance. You have a 2.4 ohm coil and apply 6 watts it will get to 400F (just a guess) now you have a .24 ohm coil and apply 6 watts and it will barely do anything so you would need to increase the watts on the .24 ohm coil (which will have more mass generally speaking) so you take it up to 70-100 watts and it gets to 400F in the same time... Is there a "need" to be that high, well that is completely subjective.

The Alien is a nice 2 battery mod. It can run just about any style tank/build you could possibly decide to use in the future. As to those high watt numbers, no one says you ever need to use them. Just because it says it can run at 220W doesn't mean you have to. As a matter of fact I wouldn't as I think it's an inflated number slapped on for marketing, and while it might reach 220W for a few seconds, and therefore not be a bald faced lie, but it's not much better.

And not to mention you would need a minimum cdr of 39amp batteries to account for a 10% board efficiency and low voltage/near low voltage. :D Not practical in a 2x18650 mod.

I thought Imren and SureFire got together to create the first ever 60A 18650. And it holds 6,500 mAh too! And it's only $29.95 per battery.

I would say I'm a newbie with vaping but only beeing at it for a few months, just a question about the coils, i wouldn't vape too much about coils what steel type coil is good on the smok? As for changing the coils should I change like 2-3weeks ? I would probably on stay around 40 watts to be honest. Thanks for all the info ;)

Thanks all

Ah, OK. A few different things in there. First, coil material. The Alien will work with all factory coils sold that I know of and compatible with all wire metal types. note that only really matter if you're using TC. In power/wattage mode a Kanthal or SS wire is fine. As daviedog pointed out just as I'm typing this Smok coils use Kanthal.;)

How often to change will depend on your use (lots or little) and juice (sweeter, gunkier for coils). They might last 2 weeks, 3 weeks or 4 day. No way to tell until you start using them.

Smok tanks are known as "cloud tanks". They produce lots of vapor and let you fog up a room in 3 draws or less. They're good at what they do, and folks also report good flavor with them. The alien mod is a solid mod. You can run any tank you want on it, from a little Nautilus for low watt mtl use, up to well, a giant Smok tank that will churn out enough cloud to appear on Doppler radar.

The Alien kit is a good one. It's a nice introduction to "subohm" vaping with the included Baby Beast. If you like that tank, great. If you don't thee are dozens of other available all waiting for you to pull your credit card out to take them home. It is very different than the vape pen you're now using. You might very well find after living with the the BB tank you want a tank more "dialed back". Or you may love it. There's only one way to find out, get it. Besides, you usually get a better price as a kit than if you bought them separately. And don't forget the batteries! Good batteries! From a well known and respected vendor so no counterfeits. LG, Samsung, and Sony are the brands you want.

Agree with Eskie. Get the Alien kit. That kit is perfect for a new sub ohm vapor. And once you get more advanced you won't need to get another mod when you decided to get more into the hobby. The baby beast is a great tank that it comes with. After a while you may want to get a tank with a higher juice capacity. All the Smok tanks guzzle juice like a day worker coming off a 12 HR shift mowing lawns.

I will also agree with Eskie. ( Thanks for all the help throughout the past few months btw ) I just got back into vaping , and just got my alien mod kit, a Cleito 120 tank, sony vtc5 batteries, and a LUC v4 charger.. I have 4 juices coming tomorrow, so I'll try the 120 then, but as for the Alien and the baby beast tank that comes with the kit, I am more than happy .. Great flavor, and vapor , and really liking Sub Ohm'ing more than MTL.. Even tho I was skeptical , as I thought mtl was just fine for me..

The 3 mods I were looking at were these , Got the Alien and will Probably pick up the other 2 as well, just for the fact the complete mod kit is about as expensive as just buying a tank!

Low wattage
Innokin Endura T22 Starter Kit

mid level
iStick Pico Kit by Eleaf $26.99

Hi wattage
Smok Alien 220W Mod $49.99

The Pico is sick bro. I use that with my Uwell Crown Mini for when I'm on the go.
