Vape order denied

Hi all. I had a big order and sadly (from USA to Canada) it was sent back to the seller. They sent an email saying that it is likely due to customs and that I'd get a refund, minus shipping + duties.

I was quite unhappy when I heard that news as it was a big order with excitement nearing that of a child's on Christmas morning. Sad day in the universe.

I had ordered 5 bottles of 100ml (6mg nic per gram) e-liquid with a mod kit that I'd wanted for over a year, along with 4 18650 batteries, a toolkit and other supplies. The cost with shipping came to $416.50 USD which is a lot to me personally, but that's how things go. C'est la vie, as the saying goes... that's life (or this is the life more literally).

I am at a loss as to why this could happen yet I suspect it is more than likely the e-liquid. Its cost alone is at least half of what it is here and on top of that recently this year we had a 20% hike on e-juice sale prices in Canada. I may just jump on the DIY bandwagon at this point.

Any thoughts? I'd ordered a mod from the UK once with no issues. I am hoping that I can at least re-order (after I get that refund) and try for at least the hardware. If that ends up having an issue I'd become the diametric opposite of a happy camper.

I apologize also for the (insert-poop-emoji) post. Bureaucracy is much to me like water is like to a cat. They should imo have more strict regulations on things that actually cause societal harm IMO. That said, I'm not too aware when it comes to customs and how some things cross the border while others do not.

I am grateful for your time reading this and my hope in the future is for more vaping freedoms. They shouldn't I feel treat these things (in terms of health) on par with all other nicotine products, I think.

Anyway, I'll leave it there lest I'll just be ranting.

You just got unlucky. Most sellers, in my experience, are honest but vague on their outer labels. Customs will check random packages & not let them thru if the contents are controlled or there's duty due (or sometimes hold them unless the duty is paid). That's US customs; don't know about Canada's. Pharma giants have given the order to be extra tough about vape items. Happened to me 1 time out of several overseas orders. You can try again & take your chances or buy within your borders. Either way, skirting the law isn't something I'd ever suggest.

I may just jump on the DIY bandwagon at this point.
Definitely a good idea.

You can thank your government for the rejection. Canada has been passing some rather draconian laws and excise taxes when it comes to vaping and eliquids. I used to order from a favorite shop in Toronto who made some absolutely divine eliquid flavors. The prices nearly doubled due to the "penalties" Ottawa placed on eliquids.

Now, products being imported must meet import laws and have an excise tax applied. You can find more info here: Regulating tobacco and vaping products - Canada.ca

That would be in your best interests. IMHO you can't go wrong DIYing your own juice. I started DIYing in 2012 because I thought commercial juices were over-flavored, too sweet and did not sit well with my <ahem cough-cough> very fussy nature. LOL

We have a good number of people here who have been doing DIY for many years. If you haven't already, checkout the DIY E-Liquid sub-forum. The "Random mixing and More" thread is the most active and best one for asking questions and getting help with starting DIY. It's not always about DIY in the thread though, we share all sorts of "other". LOLz

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced. As you know, all over the world we live in strange times nowadays. All we can do is roll with it.

As for vape gear, you had success obtaining hardware from the UK, perhaps that is the best route for you?

like water is like to a cat

My last two cats loved getting baths. Go figure. All the other ones over decades hated water. LOL

Lastly, welcome to the forum!
