My main concern is that will i be convicted in court? The penalty seems harsh.

Here in the US if the contraband is a small amount the government just sends you a friendly note saying they trashed your stuff and we now have you on our list so watch out, lol. I wouldn't panic, seek professional legal advice if it would relieve you of the mental pressure.
