Vaped walking into Costco from the time I got a basket until we passed the electronic section and no one noticed.

Was disappointed in that so stopped at our little market in town on the way home for ice and vaped the entire time in the store
Again no one noticed or said anything at all! Not even the teenager who checked us out. I had my VX2 just hanging out of my mouth making little puffs and not a word! Very disappointing

You know what "they" say? Where there's smoke, there's fire. No one smelled smoke. I wonder if you can still get the candy cigarettes we used to have as kids? The kind where if you blew them outward they'd product a cloud of powdered sugar? I wonder if you'd get a rise out of anyone now-a-days doing that through a store?

I work for Sam's Club, and if Costco is anything like Sam's, they will not ever say anything to a paying member. You can probably smoke an analog and get away with it.

For instance, we let people sample our produce, like berries and grapes, and even if we see them doing this, we aren't allowed to say anything.

This doesn't surprise me at all.

Ha Ha! I remember those! We used to pretend smoke all the time with them. Our parents thought it was so funny. Ahh Good t imes! LOL

By today's standards they would be strung up by their thumbs and flogged in public for buying them for us.

Why would you intentionally try to draw attention to yourself and your e-cig? In my opinion, actions like this will lead to the banning of e-cigs. Granted, I have vaped in a movie theatre, a hospital bed before surgery, in an elevator, malls, Costco, Safeway, etc.. etc.. but at all times I try to be as inconspicuous as possible. It's just something to think about.

Call it a sociology experiment if you will. I had my e-cig out from the car and just walked in Costco with it. Took a couple of puffs once inside and put it away. The point being that NO ONE noticed. If I was going to actually walk around the store asking for attention I'm sure I would have gotten it. If I had wanted to vape in the store... I would have openly done it. I will not ever vape in a public place and hide it as if I was doing something illegal or offending or just plain wrong. Besides, a huge place like Costco isn't the avenue I would choose to have to track down a manager and explain anything to and then deal with the fall out of my decision.
Now for vaping while walking around my local market... Completely a different story. We all know each other. Its a two horse town here. There may be 4-5 other people in the store. The only reaction I would have have gotten was..."what the heck is that?" and I knew that. I was looking for a bit for fun while out and about... I didn't get it. Maybe the feed store next week.... Hmmmm.

I do believe we need to be ambassadors for these things but hiding it or camouflaging ourselves in with the smokers isn't going to get us anywhere. If anything we should be distancing ourselves from analog smokers.

I don't think most e-cig users are trying to intentionally draw attention to themselves. I mean we are not walking up to management and blowing vapor in their face or around them. I don't pull on mine hard and try to produce small vapor so it doesn't draw attention. I just think most of us are happy because we can walk around these places for hours shopping. I know a couple weeks ago I would be in Wal-Mart for 30 minutes before some lady and her 10 kids would make me we want to go outside for a smoke. Now I just take a couple deep breaths take a couple puffs and I am good.

If someone, patron or owner, requested me to stop most likely I would. I will cover the end or vape on a slow aisle but I personally won't act suspicious by ducking into a dark place or bathroom. Specially in a market or retail place where they will pay more attention to the person trying to hide or acting weird.

I live in Michigan, a couple of mile from Royal Oak. When I was working for the tile union I was part of the crew that rennovated Jack Kevorkian's old apartment to turn it into a bar and grill. I say vape away. We needn't act like we're doing something illegal, as far as I know vaping isn't against the law. We need to bring this out into the open to force a determination and get a positive ruling from a judge that vaping is not smoking. If a precedent is in place, it would be much more difficult for the FDA or any gov't agency to overule a sitting judge's decision.:thumb:

I'm with you on this, although depending on where I am, I might aim for 'natural' rather than 'inconspicuous'. So far I've encountered nothing more than looks of curiosity.

I think I remember seeing Costco selling ecigs somewhere? Maybe I'm mistaken. Anyway, if they do, maybe they already know what they are...

CostCo sells the NJoy brand (NPro or rn4081 series, also called the "super mini") starter kits and carts, but I think only on their online store. Never seen in any standing CostCo store. I originally got this series so I could get my carts at CostCo--of course, now I know that you don't need to get new carts at all!--just buy some poly fil material, some good nic juice from Johnson's Creek, and do it yourself. Only cost effective way to vape!

In all honesty, it is only a matter of time until e-cigs will be banned in public places. Unaccepting people will consider these devices nuisances and it will take only one complaint to get them banned at your favorite bar, restaurant etc..

"Incospicuous" may have been a little dramatic but I will try to vape where no one is or blow the vapor under a table or into my shirt to draw the least amount of attention.

Costco did sell the Npro on their online store but had to cancel all orders due to Njoy's problems with customs. Costco sent out an email stating that they wouldn't be able to fulfill all orders. Since then, I don't think Costco.com has sold them.

I'm not trying to be a trouble maker but that's just how I feel. I enjoy the freedom my e-cig gives me and am fearful of what is to come.

I've seen the Njoy products at the local CostCo, too pricey, but probably better than the mall kiosks.

I recently got a Costco e-mailer advertising the NJoy refills, but not the starter kits. Didn't follow the link to see whether they were still selling kits.

When out I tend to vape nearly everywhere, but always inconspicuously. Stores, movies, banks, at work, you name it. And just a small puff or two holding my penstyle like I'm chewing on a pen, not like I'm smoking a cig. I vape throughout the day at work in a cube environment and I doubt my co-workers are aware...they're all non-smokers and I haven't told them about it. A couple of times I've been busted with the 901 in my mouth and a co-worker comes to my desk right after a small inhale and even then I don't think they noticed! (turned away to cough, picked up something under my desk, etc.)

Frankly I'm not sure if I do it for enjoyment of the nic or just because I like getting away with it! In a social setting I'm very open to playing the role of e-cig ambassador to smokers who might not be aware of them/might benefit from them, but I personally wouldn't blatantly vape in a public, non-smoking area in a way that might provoke a confrontation from someone who didn't know any better.

I just hope that when that time comes, if its you, you get a d*mn good lawyer, who can argue the fact that it isn't smoking. And that if that judge decides that it is, that you can afford to appeal it and take it to a higher court and win. Just because one judge says it isn't smoking doesn't mean the next one will though.
