Well I finally got my first vaping experience with my 510! Sorry for the long post in advance, I wanted to share my experience and have some questions as well. First of all, I should have listened to you guys and got both of my batteries in manual. Do you know what's more annoying than pushing a button to vape? Having to take 3 or 4 fake puffs just to get anything. That and the fact that at first I was like, where's the vape, I'm not getting anything, with my automatic battery until I figured it out. Other than that though the manual and auto seem pretty similar. I'm really liking it so far, and have only had one analog since last night when I started. I made the mistake of ordering 3 bottles of 24 mg thinking I'm a pack a day marlboro reds smoker, I must need the strong stuff. Now vaping on the 16 mg that came with my kit I'm getting a good nicotine buzz so I think 24 will be too strong. That's my first question, am I supposed to be feeling a good nicotine buz with the right mg's? Don't get me wrong I'm loving the nicotine buzz and it's really helping with the craving for smokes, I just don't want to get even more addicted then I already am to nicotine and am wondering if the 16 mg is too much. Also how hard is it to cut your e-liquid down? I'm a little nervous to try mixing, but now I have 3 bottles of 24mg that will be too strong. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this.

Probley too strong.
Their are many people on this fourm that will tell ya how to cut yer liquid.
I have the 510 also and love the manual batt . I also bought a auto batt but hate it. I am gonna rip it apart and do a mod with it.
I am sure their will be other replies to yer thread but if not use the search box and look for cutting juice.
Good luck

Manual batteries rock. :)

As for the nicotine concentration, I have yet to see any rhyme or reason as to why some folks (even those who might not have been heavy analog smokers) NEED 24 mg or higher while others, who have been heavy analog smokers, find 24 mg waaaaaaaay too much. My guess is that absorption rates differ from individual to individual.

If you find that 24 is too strong, you can beepop on over to the DIY forum to learn more about cutting eliquid. Basically, it can be as easy as adding some glycerin (readily available at WalMart or Michael's in the baking/cake decorating/candy section). Of course, adding glycerin will dilute the flavor, so some folks add flavorings (typically LorAnn--again, some flavors available at WalMart or Michael's). It's a wild, wonderful world out there when you decide to DIY. :)

A bit of advice--if you decide 24 mg is too strong, don't cut all of your liquid. Save a bit aside undiluted in case you get a serious craving for an analog. I tend to vape mostly low nicotine solutions, but if I get a craving, I'll spike my cartridge with a few drops of a high nic solution. Works wonders for me. :)

Great advice Julie......
This works for me also... I keep some 24mg on hand just for this purpose. As far as cutting goes, there are tons of posts in the DIY section here in this forum. One thing that I've done in the past (basically because I'm lazy, and didn't want to take the time to drive to Wally-World) was to combine some low nic fluid with my 24mg fluid. This way I didn't lose any of the flavor by cutting. I also stumbled into some great combinations of taste by doing this!:thumb:

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm beginning to think that this is definitely too strong for me. At first it was great but after a while the constant sensation of having a nicotine buzz has become rather sickening. So... I decided to give it a rest until I can cut it down to a weaker strength. I found a supplier in my state (thanks to Kent posting on another thread). And ordered some PG, mixing bottles, and flavorings. Hopefully they will ship quickly and I can be be back to vaping in no time. I'll head over to the DIY forum now and read up on what I need to do.

I generally prefer not to get induce a nicotine buzz, rather, i like to keep my nic intake fairly level throughout the waking hours. With analogs, you peak out nic levels with a smoke, wait for the next craving, peak your levels of nic again, and so on throughout the day. Once in a while, if stressed, I will do a series of draws with 36mg liquid, but that is an exception.

Good advice from JustJulie to hang on to some of your 24mg liquid. Pick up some glycerine at a craft store or drug store and test some dilutions to find a balance between flavor and nic level. 50/50 of 24mg and glycerine will bring the nic level down to 12mg/ml. Glycerine is thick and often needs to be diluted with distilled water (some folks use high proof alcohols like vodka). Mix the glycerine and water in a seperate bottle and use that to cut down your 24mg juice.

I personally used the higher strength e-liquid (24mg) at first specifically because the higher dosage would make me addicted to the e-cigarette rather than my analogs. It worked very well, however I happened to enjoy the little nicotine high I get off it, so I decided not to get a lower dosage. I also find that I don't have the urge to smoke as much, but that might just be me.

I also have found that the higher my nic mg the less urge I have to smoke.

Well I picked up some Wilsons Glycerin to hold me over until my pg gets here, and mixed it 50/50 with my Janty's tobacco flavor. I must say I kinda liked the extra vapor I got, and that mix seem to do the trick. A little nicotine buzz, but I don't feel like I'm getting high off it. I see what you guys mean about the higher amount making you want a cigarette less though, so I'm going to take JutJulie's advice and hold on to some undiluted stuff for when the cravings get bad.

I hope freshsmoking comes thru for you :) Very wise in taking JustJulie's advice - she helped early on with me too.

(from Kate)

My wife had flavorings (bickford) that I didn't even know about until I asked. So you might have some around the house.

I smoked 2-3 packs of ultra lights/day and the 16mg Janty's are about right, but I plan on mixing them down.

Thanks Kent, I already got confirmation of shipment. No flavorings around the house, I love to cook but I'm not much of a baker ;) So anyway, I was just outside vaping away and thoroughly enjoying it, when I went to put it all back in my pcc and noticed that the filler was a little bit burnt looking in spots. I was getting a pretty good vape still by that point and didn't notice any burnt taste. Is this just the way it's supposed to look or did I make an oopsie and was just smoking filler (yes I put e-liquid in the cart)?

I have on one occasion gotten some of the filler where it was extended past the top of the end of the mouthpiece. I always push that down some. If you push it down too far then it's not close to the atomizer. But I also have the cart mod with the straw - when I do that and insert the straw with the filler I tamp down the filler around the straw with a dental pick and that helps keep it in place.

As I'm looking at the top of my cart (opposite where you put your mouth) I still can see a bit of the black cart outline above the filler - not even 1/16 of an inch, and I'll cut off any strands that are above the cart with a small pair of scissors - I don't want them getting connected to the atty. The only time I've had any burnt taste is when I was burning off the primer fluid and once when dripping only and overheating the atty to where it melted away an edge of the cart's mouthpiece to where the end had a wow in it. :)

Your tip about keeping some undiluted stuff saved me. My need for nicotine is always much more in the morning, and I was really starting to feel like I needed I real cigarette. A couple drops of my banana ferver on top of my cartridge and I am now good to go.

I am sooooooo glad to hear that. When I get up in the morning, I typically start with a much stronger nicotine concentration as compared to the low/no nicotine I tend to vape throughout the day. I also up the nicotine concentration in the evening after dinner, then go back down to low or no nicotine after an hour or so.

One of the things that I love about vaping is how I can regulate my nicotine intake so easily. :)

That's _so_ helpful. I'm now just advancing past the 'which juice is the best tasting' stage (still looking for good stuff though ;-) ...and starting to focus on nic content. As it turns out I hit the Janty's Cap. high nic in the morning for the exact reason you state, but at first, it was the taste I wanted when I woke.

Today, I got some 'Taboo' (RY4?) and 'Artesian' (cappuccino) flavoring from Rob at liquidxpress so that I can mix/dilute some of my high nic juice with PG (or ECOpure) down to those 'afternoon' and 'late evening' levels.

Hang in there dude, it sounds like you will deal with program.

I still like a blast (drop or two of 36mg) on my cart from time to time.

Your body will let you know how much nic you can handle.

Good luck :D

Yuck, I think I just smoked an old sock. No wait.. it was a Marlboro red. I new these were going to taste nasty after I vaped a little while, I just didn't know it would happen so fast. I think I need to go vape to get the taste out of my mouth.

Oh, yeah . . . that happens very quickly. If you manage to give up the analogs altogether for a few days, you'll be horrified at just how bad those analogs taste if you pick one up. "Dirty sock" won't even begin to describe it. 8-o :)

Pretty soon, you'll have completely come over to the Dark Side, and you'll be vaping peach cobbler, coffee, and all sorts of interesting flavors. ;)

I've had seven since I started vaping and close to the same reaction. And.... this is with my MYO tobacco that was a result of much testing, experimenting, blending over 40 samples to where when someone else would try them, they'd say 'that's the best tasting cigarette I've ever had'. :) When I have the urge, I vape first, if only for a few drags... then do the cigarette... but that last part isn't occurring now.
