I had to go to a conference at a no smoking hotel recently, but brought my vaping supplies. Although I was a little reluctant, I vaped every night of the conference. And, not only did I not set off the fire alarms, but I wasn't charged for smoking in the rooms. So, ecigs really don't have the same smell, and hotels don't know if you do this.

I saw that once, where the non-smoking hotel had ashtrays on the bedside tables. They told me they were for taking out on the balcony where I was allowed to smoke. I think they placed them where they were to encourage smokers to break the rule and get hit with the $300 smoking clean-up charge

I have been vaping for 1 1/2 years now, I vape in no smoking rooms, no smoking rental cars and anywhere else I want to, I do not vape in public places where my vapor might confuse people and they would think I was smoking and fuss about the "smoke". So far I have had no problems or issues with no smoking hotels or rental cars. Heck I even flew over seas with PG juice and vaped on the plane the whole way, but I was very careful about blowing any vapor out where people could see it.

I went to a thanksgiving party the other night where all the smokers were smoking outside on the balcony, I stayed inside and vaped, I had explained to a few people what it was but not everyone who kept arriving. One guy saw me and asked what it was etc., and he said *I thought I saw smoke come out of your mouth earlier but I didn't see a cigarette, so I thought it was dust in the air or something*, LOL. It's funny because if people don't see a cigarrette (or smell it) they kind of convince themselves that the smoke they saw was all in their heads!

I travel often for work and vape all the time in non smoking rooms. This is way better than the prison rules I was forced to abide by when I was smoking. On the smoke alarms (especially in Europe) be careful. I have set one off vaping in a hotel. Some use an optical sensor and the vapor will get it to fire. I blame the Darwin since I took a huge wake up pull and blew the hit upward and over my shoulder right into the detector without realizing it. It gave off a real nasty noise at 4am and the fire dept had to come to disable it. I explained the issue by plugging the hot water pot in and having the thing steaming with the lid open when they came in the room. Happy vapes.

i still stick with the smokers when in public places. i do get the occasional fake coughing from some of the more preachy passer-byes.

Usually when someone does that, I smile at them and say something like - We're the only ones that know how fake that was, but I won't rat you out.
