I wonder if there's a public record of how much this cost, and from where it was funded. Any ideas?

Looks like all us ex smokers paid for it.

The San Francisco tobacco-Free Project is a program within the Community Health Equity and Promotion Branch of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. It is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive tobacco control plan for San Francisco. The program is funded with state monies which have been made available following passage of the 1988 tobacco Tax Initiative as well as Master Settlement funds. The comprehensive tobacco control plan follows state guidelines and addresses the following three state mandated priorities:

1. Reduce exposure to environmental tobacco smoke.
2. Reduce youth access to tobacco.
3. Counter pro-tobacco influences, including the impact of transnational tobacco.

What the hell is transitional tobacco?

Man they do great work! (Seriously Joe, ECF needs a vomit smilie, like in yesterday.)

Clearing the air on E-cigarettes in San Francisco, list of lies in PDF form found here www. sfdph.org/dph/files/hc/HCAgen/HCAgen2014/May%2020/5-20-14%20Presentation%20to%20Health%20Commission%20on%20E-cigarettes-1.pdf Page 7 reads:

Health harms of e-cigarettes

 Existed in the US for a few years, no longterm studies

 Create aerosolized pollution containing addictive nicotine, heavy metals, and carcinogens

 False hope to smokers about quitting population-level studies show otherwise

 Public is misinformed about “harmless water vapor”

 New air pollution indoors

 Marketed and sold to kids

The rest of the PDF is just as big a pile of steaming BS. This entire campaign is built on lies and bad (non) science.

Somewhere I saw that Gluntz was on radio or TV saying he hopes to bring this to the rest of California. Not sure how they want to enforce that in our little town that has no sidewalks. If they do try to take this state wide it's a wonderful opportunity to show what fools they are.

Also, considering how many pedestrians get mowed over in SF, I would refuse to vape at the curb until they learn how to keep their drivers off the curbs. SF actually has a health warning about stepping off curbs.

Found it, it was Uma's post about Slantz (lol) http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-win-epic-hashtag-hijack-11.html#post14989465

I was out last night a 2:00am, and nobody stopped me to ask for my papers.

I'm sorry, but I really have to stifle a chuckle when people tell me that we dont' have any freedoms. How many other nations have you visited/lived in? Just curious...

As a retiree from the D.O.D. (civilian), I have traveled abroad and was never questioned or asked for I.D. while out and about....ever. In the service we used to chide/belittle the Soviets for such practices but in recent years, here is the U.S.A., I've been stopped "several" times for no other reason but to ask for my I.D., place of residence, point of departure, destination and place of employment, in the middle of the day. I've also been questioned in a similar manner at "informational roadblocks" twice. On our interstate highways groups of law enforcement set up random stop/search operations flagging several vehicles down at a time, emptying them out and questioning the people in them. When done, they flag another random group of vehicles down. Our phones are tapped, bank accounts, email, online and financial activities monitored and we are being surveilled by increasingly sophisticated technologies that used to be reserved for those we considered our enemies. I side with Irwink and Claudia P on this one.

OK.

I'm just not sure how comfortable I am at Punishing someone who does Business in, or has the word, San Francisco in their DBA. Seems like they are just Pawns who happen to be caught in the Crossfire.

For All I know, this Coffee Company could be Very Pro-Vape to it's Employees. And contributes to Pro-Vape organizations.

Fair point, but I still think the benefits of economic sanctions outweigh the risks of catching some pro-vaping outfit off guard.

So you are saying that the "End Justifies the Means"?

And if some Company just happens to have their Place of Business in The City, that we should try to Harm them by Boycotting them? All in the Name of some Greater Good?

I'm Sorry.

But I'll take my Fight to those who are Responsible. And Leave those who are Not Involved Alone.

Talking about being "monitored" in a topic where Facebook and Twitter are part of the conversation is kinda comical.

They are the biggest personal data *mining* entities on the planet. ;) If you are at all concerned about surveillance, I would not suggest using FB or T.

Right, and if you ask them ANYTHING, they give you the standard fascist answer: "we're the one asking the questions here!" Like we're hostiles in our own country or something.

You know what really bugs the hell out of me? If you get pulled over for ANYTHING, not only does a cop come to your window, but another comes around the other side and starts staring in, while yet another stands behind, with their hand on their gun.

WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO AMERICA?!?!?!?!?! I know I'm about sick and damn tired of it! The cops have turned into storm troopers!!!!!!! Fascist thugs with ZERO accountability!!!!!!!!

Better to tell the city gov you won't be visiting on vacation. Wouldn't be against boycotting a business that thought "curb it" was a good idea though. I will be telling them that I will be flying out of Sacramento instead of SF from now on.

No, I'm saying the apathy of SF businesses has allowed the proliferation of hate messaging in their city, which makes them complicit in the crime. Guilty by tacit endorsement, not "end justifies the means"

Really?

I own a Business. And my City, County or State does Not consult me as what e-Cigarette Policies should or shouldn't be in effect. Nor does my Opinions as a Business Owner hold much sway as to what Public Advertising or Information programs are done.

I know you are Passionate about e-Cigarette Policy. But I think you are Channeling your Rage in the Wrong Direction.
