Okay, so I've been gone from the forums awhile so maybe I missed it, but I don't see the enjoyment. What do people like about it, besides the clouds.

Even on .5ohm I'm vaping in the high 20s to mid 30s. By mid-40s me gets to pushing it, either getting too hot for comfy draw or the flavour being too off.. Only time I even break the 40s (on .5 and at that only 42w) is with a chocolate vape I have because it changes to a different chocolate there but barely.

Is this a juice thing, personal preference, based on ohms, some combination with personal preference?

Why the .5ohm qualifier?

I vape TC builds exclusively. The highest resistance coil I use is .3ohms, and that's in a Nautilus. I run my Starre with a .15ohm coil at 65W because any lower and it's maxing out the wattage without hitting the temperature I set it at. Only may Nautilus and Subtank run below 50W, because those two tanks with their prebuilt coils use thin wire and cannot handle any more power. My Starre and RTAs run thicker gauge wire which requires more power to heat.

It's about the coil.

If you pump 50 watts into a coil designed for 20 watts, then it's going to get hot.

If you have an 80 watt coil, then you are not going to get a good vape at 20 watts on that coil.

The tfv4 comes with some high powered coils;

Just a lot of different ways to do the same thing is all.
Probably the biggest difference is in the way a person chooses to inhale. Direct lung hits need a more open draw, and more air requires more liquid which in turn requires more watts.
So whenever you want more of one of the three elements, you will also need more of the other two in order to maintain the ratio that you as an individual likes.

It really is no different than controlling the temp. that your car engine runs at. Combustion (wattage) heats the engine, and the cooling system (air and liquid) cools the engine (vape) to the proper temp.

I have a 0.4 ohm coil in a RDA, that blows massive clouds, @ 5.6v (80 watts) that tastes identical to a 1.8 ohm coil in a different RDA, that doesn't blow clouds, @ 3.7v (7.5 watts)

So in the end, do it the way you like & enjoy.

Oh I used that as the qualifier since it the most common sub-ohm used. Also what I use mostly now.

To everyone else, thank you, the biggest answer to me was definitely the different types of wires. A complete Doh! moment on my part.

Huge mass in the coil and lots of contact area need huge air flow and big power.

Everything in balance keeps high wattage from causing 3rd degree burns....

And actually allows it to be cool and enjoyable for those of us who prefer it.

    I Vape ~80W @ 50 mg.

It's not for the clouds exhaled... it's for the rich thickness, texture and flavor of the clouds inhaled...

And because I don't have the patience for a 5 to 10 second inhale to be satisfied.

I have to agree with everyone. Like you, I was happy with sub-ohm at .5 and 20 to 35 watts seemed to be my happy place. Then I won a Smok XCube II with a TFV4 tank and I fell in love with the set-up, the flavor and clouds are amazing. The quad coils are .13 I started my wattage at 55 and worked it up to 100 after breaking in the coil. 80 watts is my happy place. Adjusting the airflow keeps it from getting too hot. Now, the need for 150 plus watts, I believe is a power issue. My single battery Sigelei 75 watt just won't run my TFV4 tank for very long maxed out at 75 watts. So just because the power is there doesn't mean you can use it all efficiently. A dual battery device is going to power your device longer at a higher wattage on a sub ohm coil.
Think of it as if you were buying a truck to pull a trailer. A truck that can tow a maximum of 17,000 lbs is going to tow a 10,000 lb trailer better and more efficiently than a truck that is only rated to pull 11,000 lbs.
The right set-up on your device and tank will help you adjust your vape to what is right for you. Like someone said it is not a contest, just find what you enjoy:)

.25 ohm, 3mm inner diameter clapton coils and a dripper with big airflow, like an Airek, Mutation X or the new Kennedy 22 I got will give you a cool vape at 80 watts. I vape something along these lines on a daily basis. I'm going to try to get into stainless steel coils so I'll be playing around with those settings.

With a clapton coil, you have so much wire in there that for mine, 50w barely puts out any vapor and it tastes stale/muted. At 80-90w I can get a cool to slightly warm vape, take a 2-5 second drag and get a large, thick and flavorful cloud. I use a Sigelei 150w.

I can see going above 50w if you below .5ohm, and I can see having higher wattage mods for more reliability. I'm just trying to see who actually enjoys (and not just for show) vaping at these higher levels.
I stay between 30-40 watts, but my son stays consistent at 80 watts all day every day,he says he just likes the heat and flavor he gets better at the higher wattage.

Well, one thing I can add is flavor of a juice. Cheesecake needs 50 watts plus to taste more and banana as a stronger flavor. Guava and a few others need lower wattage to bring out the taste. I am not sure how many other people notice these things. Based on my experiences only.
That makes sense,my son stays at 80 watts, and his adv is banana cream. He said it doesn't taste nearly as good at lower wattages.

    Each to their own.

To me there is a huge difference with the taste when I upgraded my 50W mod to a 75W mod.

Well, not to trying to sound argumentative but, After upgrading my Kbox Mini 50Watt to the TopBox Mini 75 watts. I still find myself using the same wattage.. 25 to 40 but NEVER over 40 for any juice using OCC and SSOCC coils.

Don't get me wrong there were a few juices I've tried where I did enjoy a few around 45 watts but as a noob who is only using premade coils nearly everything I've tried starts to taste bad above 40 anyhow.
