Hello out there!

I've been vaping about 5 months now. Made the switch from analogs immediately. I have had a few stinkies just to see if I was really done with them. Boy that was a waste of money! I never thought I would actually throw away an almost full pack of cigarettes. I'll never go back to those again!! My cig habit was less than a pack a day but I ended up vaping more than I smoked. I started at 24mg strength and have cut down to 12mg.

I'm recuperating from having a micro discectomy. My post op pain is tremendous. I'm taking prescription pain meds, muscle relaxers and alieve. I've avoided vaping for the last couple of days but I'm starting to get cravings. I told my Dr about using nicotine replacement and he actually said gummy bears were better.

I feel like I should avoid it while my body heals but my cravings tell me there couldn't be any harm...
I know that's the addiction talking.

Anyone else out there vape after surgery?
What was the advice from your MD?

I vaped in my room right after having my gallbladder removed earlier this month!

Wow! I shared a room with an 86 year old lady who had her gall bladder removed. She had been in for 8 days. So the hospital was OK with your vaping? I had to show them my eye drops before they let me keep them at the bedside. Worst thing in the hospital was having to pee in a hat. Well, the IV wasn't very nice either. Hope you are feeling better and on the mend!

I don't know the details of your discectomy, but the biggest concern for nic use post-op is that the nic might slow the healing of any fusion.

Try to fight it as much as possible, then try to get by with the lowest amount of nic possible to curb your craving.

Best of luck with a very rapid recovery!

Thanks for the advice. I didn't have a fusion, just a ruptured hernia repair. But I agree that I should resist for a while. I have had some puffs but not nearly my usual intake.
