Hi all- day 4 into vaping and I have to tell you....I'm loving it. I have a 510 from NHaler and just ordered my second batch of juices.
I started vaping primarily because my recent habit of smoking (started less than a year ago) was becoming more desirable and more frequent. I have an addictive personality (I'm thinking most of us here do) and I was afraid I was heading down a very bad road with analogs. I also have a "self-pacification" habit of either having to be eating or smoking or whatever with my hands. I enjoy the "hand-to-mouth" act. Previously, when not smoking I was stuffing my face and therefore expanding my waistline ALOT! So for me vaping=no analogs and satisfies my need to put something in my mouth...and eliminates snacking. Miracle!
OK- my question is....I was not a really heavy smoker....but easily could become one....but find I am vaping (and desiring to) alot more than I was smoking analogs. Maybe its because its so much EASIER for me to take it into the bathroom and take a few puffs...rather than go outside in the cold. Maybe its much more enjoyable to vape in my car with my window up than to have to unroll the window and blow out the smoke. Maybe its because I am enjoying the taste so much. Maybe its because I feel its safer?
Does everyone vape more than they smoked? The same? Less? Or was it more just in the beginning to pacify the need for analogs? Thanks so much in advance for any and all replies! This is truly a great place to be!

Hi itsmyyear, Yes, I did the same thing when I quit Nov 1; I feel I have slowed now.

You might not be getting the nicotine levels you were accustom to getting.
I find, being a 1 pack per day person for many, many years; I need at least 18 to 24 mgs juice to sustain. I heard one poster that said they smoked 48 mgs to get the morning start nicotine they needed (not advisable).

I think we are enjoying the flavors more in ecigs than analogs, make us reach more often for that ecig. You have a good unit in the 510..the first ones I tried.

The one error I made; if I might advise, fine the ejuice you like and
buy a couple of bottles. I've run helter/skelter everywhere and now how
so many bottles of juices, it's silly . Nhaler is a good and reputable dealer and he makes great juices, plus all kinda supplies. I just wasted a lots and lots of dollars on thinking I have to try everything. Not wise on my budget.

Welcome to the ECF, I know you can get any answer for any question you
might have.

This is my first full day vaping, so I'm chalking it up to the learning curve, and the novelty (I'm really loving it), but yes, I seem to be vaping more than I smoked. It is miraculous that I have not had an analog yet today, and I don't believe I will. I was up to over a pack and a half a day.
Using it like a pacifier is a great way to put it! I even like the way it feels when I hold it between my teeth when I type :)

Vaping in the car without rolling down the window, not having to go outside to smoke in the freezing cold, etc - those are things I am really looking forward to!

I am using 26mg juice, so I am trying to be aware... I don't want to "over do it" and end up with a raging nic-headache (like I may have done last night  )

I am usually a lot more skeptical and cautiously optimistic, but I am enthusiastic about this so far. If it keeps me off the analogs, it's truly the miracle I've been waiting for.

I've noticed the same thing. I have just a few samples that I got from my good friend Kent C when we met up and am trying different ones every other day. My fav so far is the cappuccino 18mg mixed with vanilla 12 mg. perfect nic for me is 3/4 18mg with 1/4 12 makes the perfect amount. Try mixing different levels to find that perfect spot and you'll vape a little less. I know it helped me some.

When you first start, It is always going to be the case that you are getting the feel for this, trying several different juices, your intent is to break in your habit but you treat it much like a toy, and the even though you need to remain aware of your nicotine intake... most of the time you are just concerned about what the best tasting juices are and if there is a better method to use your unit.
With that said, after about a month for me all of that kind of goes away... You feel a little more settled in and concentrate a little more on your nicotine levels. I found that I have a half-and-half habit.. where I like to satisfy my urge for nic but at the same time I enjoy the pacification because of the expelation of vapor. So, I started vapin at 36mg/ml .. reduced to 24.... and now when I wake up.. I have a unit that I use at 24 mg/ml just for the initial vaping through my morning and coffee.. and so forth. But since I find myself chain vaping throughout the day, I use another unit that I load with between 8 and 11mg/ml. This way I can safely vape all day long at any rate without creating unwanted aftereffects.
In the end, it is just the simple urge to satify your curiousity of the overall function of this something new feeling you are having and then, you settle in as a seasoned individual. The trick is to learn exactly what your body needs to satisfy your craving for the analog and try your best to actively use nicotine in vaping to the lowest levels that you can. If you do your research, you will find that nicotine is not harmful at low levels and it actually stimulates your mental abilities to calm yourself, memory, concentration, and mood. Yet, at high levels, nicotine becomes a poison in the body that affects insulin and LDL cholesterol in the body to levels that risk cardiovasular trauma and brain asphixiation. I urge you to be careful about the use of your new device and monitor it with respect for what it is, along with what you have decided to use it for. BTW most distributors recommend that you try to maintain your level of intake at or below a total of 3ml per day, just to be on the safe side.

I think I'm vaping more than I smoked, too, but am cutting down on nicotine. I started with 24mg and now typically use 18 or 11. I tried some 0mg juice a while back, and it tasted good, but had absolutely no throat hit. So it'll be a while before that works for me. I have read that adding a small percentage of menthol flavoring provides some throat hit without really affecting the flavor, so I'll have to give that a shot sometime.

Im using the 18mg capu prefilleds - I have a VG bottle of capu which is 24mg, which tbh I don't use that much and Ive got on order some 0 nic flavors to cut them all with (and some blank carts that haven't come yet) - I think if you cut down using 0 nic, a bit at a time you can reduce your nic intake significantly over time and not worry too much. Its the whole one step at a time deal - ceratinly try not OD on nic, it IS a poison remember, luckily there are many 0 nic versions of current faves. At least keep in mind that you're not inhaling a bunch of OTHER chemicals now along with the nic.

Just to give you more ideas.. If you take some 0 nic juice and add a little Jameson or any scotch that you like.... Just an example.. I added Jameson to 5MLs of 0 nic- at a concentration of 8% by volume.. roughly .5 of a ml. The throat hit was slightly better than 18mg nic juice. The only difference to me is caution... They say to only use clear alcohols but I decided to try this and it works. I just make sure that I blow my atty out every time that I change my carts. This way any build up that a non-clear alcohol presents does not affect my atties.

Don't worry to much about it, once you become accustom to using the Vaporizer you wont use it as much. When I first got mine I was smoking 2 packs a day. I now smoke none and don't use my vaporizer as much as I did when I got it. It's just the novelty of it and the taste that is making you use it so much. It will ware off in a few days and you will only use it as much as you need it. You'll still enjoy it just not crave as often. Congrats by the way on switching.

Thanks so much for all the quick replies!! I feel much better about "pacifying" now with it....and am definitely watching my nic intake. I think I overdid it a little my first night....a bit of a headache.....but am quickly finding out how to limit myself. I already found that I need to start the day with 24mg, then switch to 12 mg throughout, and before bed since that is when I tend to vape the most.... (right now I have 12mg of NHaler's strawberries & cream....yum...). I hope that I can figure it out even more as time goes on....and eventually lower the nic even more. Right now I am loving how I can get my nic fix very conveniently (and warmly since it is 20 degrees here!):D

I find vaping more pleasurable then smoking has been for the last 20 years. I might vape quite heavy for a few days, them lighten up a bit just to go back to heavy again. Bottom line is that I didn't like smoking, only did it to satisfy my habit, but I enjoy vaping. At least it isn't as bad for you as smoking, which I did for way too long before.

I vape more than I smoked. A lot of this is because I can do it anywhere. I am sitting at the computer vaping now, I would have gone outside in the garage to smoke. I vape in the car taking my son to school, with a smoke I would have waited. I vape while watching TV, I even vape in my office at work.

I think the second reason is nicotine. I do not get as much (in my opinion) as with smoking so therefore I vape more to get what I need.

But I can breath, I can taste, I can smell!
