Great points all. I appreciate the insights. I'm very happy with the transition from analogs. Haven't really given them much thought in the last week which is amazing (and you can't put a price on that). I'm sure once I find what suits me, the buying will slow. Of course, I do enjoy sifting through the forums.

I think it's possible that early on (where I am) there's a bit of a "panic" to make that that cigarette-sized hole you've just cut in your life is adequately filled. Making sure you have the right juice, the right equipment, etc., etc., to reinforce that you are indeed now doing *this* instead of *that.* I am already sensing though, that vaping will not not pose the intense "need" cigarettes seemed to. Maybe because the nic is absorbed more slowly, or because you can basically "vape" anytime you need to, and don't have to constantly be keeping an eye your "smoking window" as you do to keep up a cig habit.

I'm almost two weeks in and just like you....LOL...NOT A BAD THING THOUGH! ONe thing I DID notice right away was that I am more laid back now, not like when I was smoking, things don't irritate me like they use to, I don't feel like ripping a bats wing off when I wasn't able to 'smoke' and even though it will take me 22 more days (unlike my banner) to break even, that is okay, I already DID...I can BREATH so much better...I do find that I can't WAIT to race home, eat a sandwich, juice up and get on the computer and have a nice long vape session before everyone gets home...LOL...I don't mind refilling the carts, kinda fun trying to find the right 'mix' and amounts...I do feel that I vape MUCH more than I smoked, BUT it is because NOW I can vape in the house! LOL...so be it....I FEEL better! MUCH better...so VAPE on! Even though my CC is getting more exercise than I am right now (just getting my juices in and my spares etc, so it will EVEN out soon), I actually took out 60.00 from the bank and gased up my car, bought some paper supplies for the house and that was a week ago friday and STILL have 3.00 left! THAT in itself is AMAZING!

I think it is less additive then smoking at least for me it is. When i smoked first thing i did in the morning was smoke a cigarette. Since vaping when i wake up it can be 30 mins to a hour before my first vape. I dont feel like i have to have it as much then when i smoked. Maybe it was some of those 4000 chemiclas i dont get with vaping that does it. But yes it does take up more time. Cigarette are no brainers buy , light , smoke. With vaping there is alot more to it then that, even more for people that like to know everything about it and all the new stuff coming out. Then you got mods and modding. Tip and tricks and so on. So for sure you will spend more time on it. I think to some people it is more of a Hobby then just a way to get nicotine in your system.

I have been vaping for only a week and a day now. Placed my first order on 8/31 and received a week later. After much research and deliberation, I settled on the V4L Ultimate Ultimatum Manual kit. It seemed the right choice given its ease of use and largely positive reviews. I added a a couple of sample cart packs to the initial order. Before I even received it, I placed another order for some additional cart flavors and a small bottle of doc pep from V4L.

When I finally got everything and took my first hit, I knew this was something special. I have only had two analogs since then (beer is to blame) compared to the pack a day habit I was in to before. After a couple of days I ordered a couple of bottles from Halocigs (Freedom Juice and Menthol Ice) and a day later a couple more batteries and some 555 from V4L.

In a nutshell, I'm already in for more than $225 (with no end in sight) and it's been less than two weeks. Before, smoking cigarettes was simple...step 1, go to store...step 2, buy cigarettes...step 3, smoke cigarettes till gone...Step 4, repeat...and eventually step 5, get cancer and die. Though not positive, still very simple.

Now I seem to always be engaged in some type of vape-related activity. I am either reading reviews, looking at products to buy, tracking my orders for things I'm waiting to be delivered, or fiddling with the carts (changing flavors/ refilling). All this why constantly vaping. Today while scouring for everything GG (my next considered purchase), it occurred to me...

Vaping is more addictive than smoking.

I am hoping this is just the result of it being so new, but something tells me it's not. Being a relatively new industry, there is so much room for growth. Which can only mean more and more equipment to be developed, more juices to try and more companies to offer them.

Smoking was a habit. Vaping has quickly become both a habit and a pastime. Not that I'm complaining. Just an observation.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

I am the same. It's been about a month and I'm feeling borderline compulsive/obsessive with vaping. I love my kr808d-1 so not spending much on hardware after getting a PT and some cases, but seem to always be reading the forum. I'm this way with all new hobbies/interests, so I know it will settle down soon... at least I hope it does. The great thing is I quit cigs within a week of starting to vape. I haven't saved much money yet because I'm always, "Wow, that flavor sounds wonderful. Gotta get me some!"

I vape more than I smoked, but probably because I'm always at the computer :)

don't have to constantly be keeping an eye your "smoking window" as you do to keep up a cig habit.

This is exactly what makes me feel less *addicted*. I don't plan my next vape most of the time. I just do it when I have the desire and don't worry about it the rest of the time. I used to *know* when I was smoking one cig, when the next one would be, especially in no smoking situations.

I kind of feel like I am way more addicted to my e-cigs than I was to my analogs just from the standpoint of how much I vape vs. how much I smoked. First of all, I had tapered down to about 10 analogs a day before I switched to e-cigs (now no analogs at all.) So basically, I would smoke every couple of hours, sometimes more and sometimes less. One thing that helped limit me was that I didn't smoke in the house. But with vaping, since there's no odor and no staining of the walls from smoke residue, I sit on the couch and watch TV (or browse this forum) with my Wetbox or my RN4081 going virtually non-stop. Maybe it's just that I am still craving the nicotine I got from analogs, and the e-cig doesn't give me as much. Maybe it's because I like the taste so much more than analogs. But at the rate I'm going, I must take in as much vapor in an evening as I do oxygen.

For me, this is not true. I vape less than I smoked. I take a drag probably once an hour and I never double drag. Unless I'm around others who vape, which was the same with smoking. It's like a social thing, they have a cigarette, I had a cigarette. We would talk over the cigarette. Same with vaping. But by myself I hardly ever think about it. And my purchases nowadays are very limited. Only one juice. Waffle. I don't collect juices or PV's anymore (that stopped around month 3). /end

I was never much of a juice collector. I like a few - JC Original, Vermont Vapor Tobacco and Smoke, Halo Freedom juice, and that's about it. I got a sampler once of a few flavored juices from somewhere - don't recall where - and I found them to be bland with a tendency to kill my atomizers. I've also not been much of an equipment buyer. I did the Blu type, the RN4081, and the Wetbox. I'm getting an Ali'i, too, because the Wetbox doesn't really cut it for me. That's it, though. No real interest in buying any more "stuff".

I suppose my excessive vaping will trail off eventually. It's a pacifier for me, now, but I've only been off smokes fully for about three weeks. As I get more used to not smoking, I'll probably need to vape less. Today, for instance, I was outside doing yard work for about four hours, and I didn't stop once for a vape break. Well, maybe once. But only for as long as I would take to smoke a cigarette.

I think the key for me would be to vape once an hour or two for about 4 minutes. But I'm still gonna vape inside. No more cold, rainy nights on the deck puffing away under an umbrella.

Yeah I have a addictive personality and have ordered from 2 suppliers so far and am eyeballing a few others. then there's the DIY stuff. I just so happen to be tinker and like messing with stuff. I didn't even receive my kit yet or take a hit off a PV and I'm already looking/reading about mixing my own juice. So sad

Peace Flav

:thumbs:Well I have been vaping since September 26, 2010. The first day I started I had 1 and 1/2 packs of analogs left, so I told my self that I would finish them off and get use to the e cig. Well the first day I smoked about 5 or 6 of the analogs and the second day I gave the full pack to my daughter-in-law and finished the opened analogs. Now I find myself vaping on a regular basis, more than when I was smoking analogs. I think it is because I am trying to find my happy medium, and the fact that I can vape in the house. I have purchased a lot of e-juice (sampler packs) and of course the tobacco flavored e-juice I have grown accustom to already. I vape alot because I am trying to find the perfect flavor. Today is my fifth day away from analogs, and I have been in a good mood. I even babysat last evening and didn't have a melt down, so I have to say I am more mellow since I started vaping.

Even though I spend more time on it, and get more pleasure from it, I don't feel "owned" by vaping the way I did with cigarettes.

That is it in a nutshell for me.. I walked out this morning to do my saturday running and guess what I forgot, my spare stuff pouch... I had been vaping on this battery since 4pm yesterday and about 5 miles from the house it flashed it was dying and in the need of a charge.. Did I turn around, nope.. Did my 3 hours of getting things done and thought no more about it.. I got home, grabbed my other battery and had a nice vape.. I never felt that anxiety I use to get when it was the day before pay day and I had a half a pack of smokes to get through... Vaping is just different.. I don't feel chained to it..

ha ha, me too. I didn't realize it would become a hobby, but it has. I don't mind though, it's not as labor intensive after a year as it was at first, and I enjoy it. Keeping my hands busy, whether vaping the pv or wiping it down, or cruising the forums keeps me from going outside so I'll take it.

I take it you don't like the outdoors.. I couldn't stand to be couped up in the house all the time..

I don't know if I'd use the term 'addictive', and no, it's not out of any terminological retentiveness. :)

A cigarette is just a cigarette. They're dull, boring, unimaginative, and mindless. You pick one out of the pack, light it, puff away, and then put it out. Very mindless.

Vaping is an entirely different beast - there's nothing mindless about it! It's a hobby and a subculture as well. There's always something new to learn, something to experiment with, and that's what catches the imagination. Nicotine's addictive, but vaping is fun. I'm keeping to low nic (4-6mg) purely out of health considerations. I spend a lot of time at the computer and if I'm having a bad day, I'd sit and chainsmoke (Camel 99 Lights, btw) and not realize what I was doing until I started to feel the start of low-OD weirdness. Knowing that, I went into vaping knowing that with a passthrough, I'd do the same thing - hence the low mg. Better safe than too much.

As for the spending... there's two camps of vapers, in my opinion. First, those that pick up a carto, screw it on, puff away, and once they're satisfied, they're done. Then there's those who jump in feet first, like me. :) We're the ones who are all over everything vaping has to offer, and when you're wanting to try every flavor on the planet... it gets expensive. I wouldn't sweat it too much, though. After some time, you'll know what you like and don't like, and your spending will taper off.

Plus, like earlier posters mentioned... if you're concerned about the nicotine addiction and you don't mind the hand-to-mouth vaping, get some 0mg juice. :)

At first it is more "addictive" than smoking because you are trying to replace your nicotine craving with vapor, which is not so concentrated with nicotine as your analog. An analog gives you instant satisfaction, the PV doesn't. After a while, you don't crave it so much because you are losing the analog and replacing it with vaping. It gets better.
