Hi Guys

I just started vaping 2 weeks ago

For the last 3 mornings I have woke up to quite a lot of blood in my spit (never happened in 12 years of smoking cigs)

I have searched for this in Reddit etc and it actually seems to happen to quite a few people I’m not sure why

I’ve been to hospital yesterday and my chest X-ray and blood tests came back clear so I’m not sure what is actually causing this to happen

I do have a very dry nose so I thought maybe it was dehydration causing this and during the night it was dripping into my throat but I would expect to also have a bloody nose which I don’t so I’m confused

I also don’t have a cough or anything like that in fact I find my lung capacity has massively improved already since quitting

Just interested to see if anybody on here has went through this

Hi and welcome,

Where are you located?
What is your age?
When did you see a dentist most recently?
Do your gums bleed when brushing/flossing?

What are you vaping?
Which liquid? PG/VG ratio, nicotine content, flavour? how many ml per day? Direct inhales or mouth to lung (cigarette like)?
Where did you source the liquid?
Which device(s) are you using?: coil resistance?, power or watts used? Coil material? Wicking material? Cotton/silica/rayon/SSmesh?

Do you take any medications for other maladies?
Have you spoken with your doctor about quitting smoking?
Have you increased your liquid/water/coffee/soda consumption to offset the potential drying effects of vaping?

Let's dig in and see if we can help narrow down why you are experiencing symptoms.

Cheers
I

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I used to sometimes get little specs of blood in my lung cookies for a year or 2 when I was a smoker. No clue what it was. never went to the doctor, felt fine. It went away.

Now that I no longer have lung cookies because I vape and my lungs are no longer backing cookies, I have no idea if whatever caused it is still present or not. I feel fine.

Good luck.

PS: You may want to just quit.

Can be many things man...even an allergy that makes nose bleed...check the nose if there is any dried blood inside it in the morning....just saying I am not a doctor ofc lol...

all I can say is that from my experience with quiting cigs and vaping the first months I was experiencing some swollen gums and bleeding but that went away after first couple of months and since then no problem at all...

I am not sure if it was vaping that caused it or the quiting of cigs because
I have read somewhere that the smoke from cigarettes can cause gums desease like periodontitis and e.t.c but at the same time it helps stop some of the symptoms like for the bleeding of them and that's why many smokers don't know they have problem with their gums if they don't visit dentist...

That's why people that start vaping maybe experience bleeding and it's not because the vaping causes it but the lack of smoking cigs make the desease finally show it's symptoms...

It seems that in my case this was the deal and that's why there was bleeding at first months....also after one year now vaping my gums are in much better condition according to my dentist...

In your case I don't know what it can be cause there can be many reasons maybe but just saying my experience

Smoking doesn't cause gum diseases...plaque build-up does. But, smoking can/does many times mask symptoms of possible beginning gum disease (especially bleeding gums), because smoking causes the blood vessels in the gums to constrict. Quitting smoking causes better blood flow in the vessels, so bleeding my occur during and/or after brushing your teeth. It can also occur even while someone is asleep and/or because of the suction caused while vaping.

Just interested to see if anybody on here has went through this

First, I'd always visited my dentist every 6 months for exams, cleanings, etc. However, even though I did that...I noticed a bleeding gums problem sometimes for the first 3-4 weeks after switching to vaping. I know several people who had the problem when they quit smoking and weren't vapers and 2 others who were vaping. My dentist recommended brushing my teeth with Parodontax toothpaste after every meal for 2 weeks and flossing after each meal during that time period, too. He said if that didn't stop it, to come back to see him for examination of my teeth and gums. I followed his instructions and the bleeding gum issue totally stopped. That was in late January - beginning February of 2014, and I've had no problems with it since then, as a full-time vaper.

I'd give it a try if I were you. See your dentist if it doesn't stop then.
