I have many times heard that vaping is a dehydrating activity. I try to compensate by drinking more water when I vape. However after almost two years of vaping I feel like my skin and hair is a lot drier than it used to be, and I wonder if there is any correlation. I wonder if I am taking in enough fluids to properly compensate.

What experiences have any of you had (if any) with feeling that vaping has caused you any dehydration symptoms? How much water intake is a good amount for someone who vapes a lot every evening?

Any thoughts, experiences, etc are welcome.

As a baseline, 64 oz a day is a basic recommendation.

Now with vaping, 2 things are happening:

Basic dehydration if the hygroscopic properties of both PG and VG

Secondly, newer vapers will experience dehydration as the body uses more fluids to aid in tissue repair.

So I would recommend this: drink the 64 oz of pure water each day. If you still feel dry, if your skin is dry, if your urine is anything other than clearish and odorless, increase by increments of 8 oz a day until to hit that sweet spot.

These are my $0.02 and do not in any way represent any qualified medical opinion.

I always vape with plenty of cold coorslight and I have never had that problem. But ,on a more serious note,at least 2 extra 8oz glasses of water.

I wish I could keep some Coors Light next to me at work! I just recently switched over to vaping and I've been railing through water like there's no tomorrow.

Great response, thank you! I know I need to drink more water than I probably already do. I am not new at vaping though, but still feel more dehydration symptoms than before I started. I was curious what it was about vaping that led to dehydration in the first place.

Just wanted to point out a couple things. You can tell if you are dehydrated by the color of your urine. The darker it is the more dehydrated you are. Clear urine is the best color. Also your skin looses elasticity when your are dehydrated. You can check this by pulling on the skin on your forearm, the faster it goes back the more hydrated you are. Just an FYI. Also urine dipsticks that test for specific gravity will tell you this too. Not sure if they're available OTC but it wouldnt hurt to check.
