Since I left analogs behind for good and completely thrown myself into vaping, I noticed something yesterday:

During the 20+ years that I smoked (I was never a heavy smoker, ~10/day), I'd light up, smoke, and go back to work and not have another one for anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. And smoking a cigarette took anywhere from 3-5 minutes.

But since I've been vaping, I often find myself puffing away anywhere from 5-15 minutes at a time! I'm starting to notice that I'm jittery or jumpy a lot.

The strongest concentration I've ever used is 18mg (usually 12mg), although with the Blu cartridges I'm smoking now, who knows what the strength really is, regardless of what it says on the carto. I've decided to lower the concentration down to 8mg or less. I really like puffing away, but don't want to overdo it on the nicotine and have the jitters all day.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Just curious.

Your body is used to the high nic already so reducing will just make you vape more to satisfy your craving. I chain vape all the time, im just glad my ecig has a cut-off because I would overheat my ecig constantly. You should stick to the low nicotine because your body will get used to it.

When I first vaped that happened to me as well, but I lowered my nic level and after a while, i just changed my style of vaping and try to calm it down so I dont go crazy. And also, the flavor might be good as well and because it is not so heavy anymore, your body can take it lol. I don't like Blu Ecigs so I really don't the quality that well because I only vaped them for a little. But as I said, just stick to your low nic level and you will get used it, as long as your off regular cigs then it is fine.

Good Luck! =)

So often people use how much a person smokes a day to get the right strength and usually that isn't necessary. Your situation it is relevant since you vape more than you smoked. I don't know if Blu does 6mg but it sounds like that is where you should be.

If you can't find a means to lower the strength, you need the will power to only vape when you would smoke or cut back from however many puffs you do at a time to a considerably lower number.

If he's jittery and jumpy, his body is NOT used to the level.

Or I'm vaping more to try and get the same level of satisfaction I got from the analogs and I'm overdoing it. So as not to over-dramatize, the jumpiness isn't severe, about the same way I get if I have a cup of coffee that's too strong, I just get wired and can't sit still for too long.

I'm ditching the Blu as soon as my new kit gets here in a day or two, so that might make a difference.

I'll report back here and let everyone know. But I was just curious find out if anyone else had gone through that kind of thing.

PDADoc, I was jumpy a bit too. Maybe vaping too much at first as insurance that I'd stay off the ciggys. I was a fricking slave to cigs. It (vaping and jumpiness) leveled out. I am about 8 months now. Get a better system where you have more control though so you can experiment on the levels and nic amounts. That way you are in charge.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well.

Thanks!

I had that jittery feeling and could tell the nic level was wayyy higher than I was used to from some cheapo Chinese eliquid a friend kept raving about being so good. It had a LOW sticker on the bottle for nic and the name was Green Arrow. I tried it and could literally feel the nic level increase almost immediately. Needless to say, I threw it out. I am using 6mg nic in all liquids now and was a moderate smoker like you of about 10 a day.

Tucson, it's a dry heat
If you are chain-vaping (which it sounds like you are) I would lower the nic to 6 mg. You might also be puffing too hard on those cartridges - I had that problem with cig-alikes being really, "sucky" (you have to pull hard on them to get anything). I blew my neck out on the first stupid "Encores" I tried the first day I quit analogs. Get a better battery/carto/clearo combo and it might be more satisfying.

I had the same problem with too much nic especially when I got a device I really liked and was all excited about how cool it was. I also found that the flavour was so good I kept wanting to "taste" it more. Its like eating candy compared to actual cigarettes. When I started I used 16mg nic then went to 12 and now down to 8 or 6.

I still get a bit over nic'd when Im using a new PV or atomizer because I keep testing it to see how it keeps up to chain vaping etc. I use a pineapple strawberry that tastes so good its like drinking some great juice that I will chain just because its good. I also have a couple tobaccos that also taste so good and makes me vape like a hound.

Yes, definitely chain-vaping. Thing is, I really like doing it, but I had already decided to lower the nicotine dose to accommodate for it, especially after I got my bag out and monitored my vitals, LOL! It was as though I had just finished a 10K. The effects are transient, though, no harm done.

The Blu is so weak that it encourages the kind of hard puffing I've been doing; it's like trying to suck a golf ball through a straw! At least one of the many positive things about the Green Smoke kit that I have coming is the ease of draw. Then I can relegate the Blu kit to the desk drawer under the heading of break glass in case of emergency, LOL!

Can't wait!

PDADoc since you aren't smoking cigarettes anymore, IMHO sounds to me like you are going through a little bit of withdrawal from all the other chemicals that are in a cigarette.

There is a thread somewhere here on ecf about what symptoms you may experience when you quit smoking - check it out as I think you'll find it quite helpful.

And please, do not forget, drink plenty of water. Not only will you stay hydrated, it will also help to flush out all of the toxins from the smokes. :D

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well.

Thanks!

I'll warn you though. When I decreased from 18mg to 11mg all I did to compensate was vape more. Body was asking for more nic, so I hit it more often. Don't worry about it though. Stay off the cigs. My lungs cleared up, my skin is softer, my gums are pink, and little junior down below has more life. No more CO2 in my blood! It's all good.

You're right about that. I'm well aware of the brain and body chemistry changes taking place in the interim. This is where my medical education comes in handy.

And as for hydration, I drink copious amounts of water anyway, due to the amount of training I do between running and biking.

Thanks!

I have been vaping for a couple of years without ever trying a drugstore device UNTIL a few weeks ago. I was in a jam and days away from receiving my vaping supplies, so I picked up a Blu Cig kit. I do not know what exactly is in those cartridges, or if it is the adhesive used to wrap them, but I experienced a head rush, the jitters, and just generally felt....weird. And I usually vape anywhere between 18mg and 24mg. I've even vaped 36mg without any similar side effects. The Blu Cig cartridges have some additive that makes me feel lightheaded and off in a way I've never known with other devices and liquids. My roommate, who has vaped with my pvs in the past, also tried the Blu Cig and had the same experience.

That is indeed an interesting anecdotal experience. It does make me wonder.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I found it helpful and validating.

If you are getting jumpiness, you won't have withdrawals because your body isn't used to it. If your body is used to the level you don't get jumpy anymore.

I too get jumpy from too much caffeine or nicotine. I can tell you from experience with quitting then again starting both nicotine and caffeine, continue your current intake and your body will adjust. You will then (or soon after) NEED that amount to avoid withdrawals.

After it happened, I actually did some Googling and hit on a number of entries from vapers who had similar experiences with Blu Cig. One theory was the adhesive used on the cartridge wrappers. Some folks remove them and rinse the residue from the cartomizers. I'm not entirely convinced that is the culprit, but it is as good a guess as any, I suppose. I just tossed the Blu Cig kit at the earliest opportunity.
