I've noticed that since I've started vaping, I no longer have morning breath and my mouth doesn't feel like something crawled in and died when I wake up.

I take it from mouthwash commercials and my wife's reaction to kissing me goodbye as I go off to work in the morning after drinking several glasses of water, brushing my teeth, etc., (she's reluctant to breath in my direction) that almost everybody gets morning breath. I've certainly had it since I was a child regardless of whether I was smoking. I quit smoking years before I began vaping. Within a few weeks of vaping, however, it disappeared. I still wake up thirsty and my mouth is much dryer than any other time of day, but no awful, gummy, taste of death.

I wonder if it's the antimicrobial effect of PG. Anyone else experience this?

ADDED: I know what causes bad breath. When I smoked, I had smoker's breath, but I've not otherwise ever had bad breath. Thankfully, I have a lovely wife of 17 years who is more than willing to say whatever is necessary to keep me on my toes about matters related to hygiene and grooming. She concurs about my mysterious lack of morning breath and the fact that it seems unusual.

So I'm not asking about bad breath in general -- just morning breath.

When I first started vaping I noticed how AWFUL my breath was. I took a sip of water from a plastic cup and recoiled, saying "this water smells HORRIBLE!" and had my friend smell it and he said "Uhh.. It just smells like your breath.." and that was the day I realized I had spent the last 20 years with horrible breath because of smoking.

Now that I've been smoke free for over a year I never notice bad breath, even in the mornings. So, I guess I'm right there with you.

My daughter told me the way to check if yo bref is stank, is to lick the inside of your wrist, then smell it.

go ahead try it and see for yourself.

your breath is a combo of a lot of things, hygiene, health, ingestion, elemination as well.

while smoking you were ingesting chemicals of all kinds , stands to reason the effect would be bad breath.........

I could see vaping making breath worse, and better, depending on certain factors.

Vaping does dry out the mouth, and when your mouth is drier bacteria reproduce more. Having your spit constantly flowing around in the mouth and being swallowed keeps down on the bacteria, when your mouth is dry this doesn't happen as much.

On the other hand, there are antibacterial properties to vaping juice as you mentioned.

For me personally, even IF I do wake up with bad breath, after a few puffs it's totally gone. Not covered up, gone. If I vape Pluid I almost actually feel like I just brushed my teeth since it's got a hard to describe flavor that kind of reminds me of toothpaste, but not in a bad way at all. I don't think it's the Anise but you never know.

But then again I've never really had bad breath, even when smoking or forgetting to brush my teeth for days at a time. That's not me being in denial, that's what everyone around me says. Some are angry that my breath never stinks, where as they are constantly brushing and popping breathe mints and still have worse breath than me.

Maybe drinking copious amounts of alcohol is akin to using large quantities of mouthwash, could be it ;) Or the health nuts are right and Aspertame is a biocidal maniac of a chemical.

well then, my breath smells like winterberry!!! 'course in the morning, it don't smell like very much at all. Used to smell pretty bad, then I started vaping. I guess I vape "clean" flavors.

Before I started smoking, I did have a case of "zackly mouth." That's where one end of you tastes zackly like the other.

When I smoked, I continued to have a case of zackly mouth.

Since I started vaping almost two years ago, for the first time in my life, I do not have zackly mouth.

I can't say anything about morning breath. Mrs. Katz refuses to comment on my breath before I brush my teeth in the morning. (I don't know if its that bad, or she's trying to not offend me or what.) I can say that I do have a bad tooth that used to give me the occasional pain (I need to scrape up some cash and have it pulled, its a wisdom tooth btw so its extra) and since I've started vaping I've not had that pain.

Whether that is because my sinuses are clearing or the anti-microbial properties of PG I have no idea though.

The only morning phenomena I can report related directly to starting vaping though is I'm usually very very thirsty in the mornings. In fact since I switched I've taken to keeping water by the bed which I never used to do before.

So I am checking back to see, who licked their wrist and sniffed, lol.

And to not brushing for several days, Dude ..... OMG and EEEEEEWWW, I THINK someone lied its got to be really nasty after even after one day lol

Haha I knew someone would comment on that. It's not a frequent thing, but sometimes stuff happens, you know you're out camping for a weekend or something, aint nobody got time for that. Or your house burns down, or there's a giant moth invasion, zombie attack in your city, etc. Point being, every once and awhile the moons align and it's either not easy or possible to brush one's teeth, and in those cases, I still don't have bad breath. And no, I don't hang out with liars, or people that hold back anything, I'd definitely be heckled if my mouth smelled like a rat's foetus in a schnitzengiggle beer bottle. Seven vaping points if anyone gets the reference.

Like I said, I think the alcohol is the secret. Right now the only thing my breathe smells like is beer. That sounds mighty fine to me.

I did actually lick my wrist and smell it, but I had just finished .........ing and my wrist just smelled like lotion. That didn't actually happen. I actually licked someone elses wrist and it just smelled like lotion. And expensive perfume.
