Hi everyone,

I have a very personal and pretty embarrassing query I'm desperate for help with. For many many years, I have had big problems going to the loo (the urge to go isn't there when it should be, even when you're full of you know what). Things have been getting worse recently. I have had every medical test under the sun, and tried every kind of dietary change and medication you can think of. For some inexplicable reason, the only thing that has really helped me (beyond very strong laxatives), is cigarettes. Sometimes, I'll have just a cigarette or two and I need to rush to the bathroom.

I didn't really look at e-cigs as an alternative because my understanding was that they were similarly harmful to regular cigs. But obviously this report has just come out from the NHS suggesting they're 95% less harmful. If I could switch to them, and they were to have the same effect, that would be fantastic for me. I would only need to vape a few times each week in the morning to get things going, without having all those worries about cancer, reduced lung capacity and so on.

From the research I've done, it seems to be the case that if you wanted e-cigs that work well 'down there', you'd be best placed to get ones with as high nicotine content as possible and with a VG base. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I note that some vapers say that e-cigs still won't give that same urge that normal cigs do, and I guess everyone responds differently to these things. But if I could give myself the best possible chance of finding something that works, that would be great.

Thanks so much in advance for your help and apologies for the kind of gnarly subject of this post!

Nicotine excites the vomiting reflex both in the brain and in stomach nerves. It has an anti-diuretic effect, but in the intestines, it is initially stimulating, explaining why so many smokers depend on the first smoke of the day for bowel regularity. Later doses, however, slow down the digestive process.

Um... fascinating.

I must admit to secretly appreciating "regularity" as a smoker. Things have not been the same since quitting. (I guess this means I also feel it's not just Nicotine).

Changing my diet helped, I must say. If this has not worked for you, it's tougher, obviously.
I can't see there would be any particular type of e-cig that would change this phenomenon.

Are you UK? (You mentioned the NHS?)

I've not had this issue myself but if the nicotine itself is the catalyst I would get some 32 or 36 mg/ml juice and try it.

If that doesn't free things up, maybe try some WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid) juice. It will have more of the natural tobacco leaf extracts and may trigger something.

Best of luck.

Yep, based in London. I know, apologies it's a bit of a nasty topic but I really am desperate - it's really messing up my quality of life.
No worries about the topic, you'd not be the first to mention it.
I went through a period when almost nothing was going on full stop. It was horrible. That took medical intervention.
You could try strong(er) liquid. What sort of e-cig do you use/have tried?
Most of the 'high street' e-cigs won't actually give you much nicotine.
The "top" UK brands claims one refill is 40 cigarettes. It was proved (proven?) over 2 years ago that actually the user got less than 5 cigarettes in YIELD.
The industry is full of lying greedy businessmen which nobody can touch.

    McDonald's. Problem solved.

In all seriousness, definitely give something with at least 18mg in a high vg (80%+).

Also maybe check with a chiropractor if you haven't already. It could be related to nerve pressure due to misalignment.

My uncle is a chiropractor and treated a small child as a last resort before having to undergo surgery for impacting.

The child bombed the office within minutes, and was better with regular treatments.

    I didn't know this, interesting.

E-cigs don't deliver as much nicotine as cigarettes do. Last study I read stated that cartomizers deliver about 1/3 of the nic that's in the juice and tank systems deliver about 1/2. (These are NOT the sub-ohm tanks that we have now. These were TCCs.) With that in mind, I think you'll probably want a higher nic level OR you'll want to use an RDA or something with a lower nic level. Just as an experiment, you could pick up some POS disposable or mini and try vaping it with your morning coffee. If you're thinking that you'll be a regular vaper then you'll want to look into better gear (probably), but if you're just looking at vaping to help with your situation, some random cheap e-cig might work for you.

Since you admitted the embarrassing query, I'll admit the embarrassing experience. Lol from someone with multiple recurring SBO's as well as post-op ilius history...

Yes VG base, max VG does a lot for me, anything lower than 80/20 doesn't do much at all

The nic has never been much of a factor for me, I drip 1-2mg/ml DIY juice

+1 on caffeine, helps too, in moderation of course re hydration issues

    Good luck!
