Vaping and the POSSIBLE (if small) health concerns.

Hey everyone, been vaping for a while now and definitely love it. Still smoke a cig now and again, but definitely cut back. My question is this: what are any health concerns, of theoretical/possible health concerns(ones that could be, but not yet proven) about vaping.

It seems to me for starters that on a 1 to 1 ratio comparing cigarette smoke to vapor, vapor just seems healthier. Although it does certainly seem as though many people (myself included) vape significantly more than they would smoke cigarettes. I know people (again me sometimes) who you basically won't see a time without his/her vape in their mouth and their finger on the trigger. I met a guy the other day who said he tried vaping and went back to smoking after one day. A bit suprised i asked him "Why?" and he replied "Because everytime I went for a smoke break I just didn't know when the hell to stop".

What are some other possiblities? What are some small things that people have had due to vaping (regardless of how small)

In the end I think vaping will still prove better than smoking. Time will tell what this amount of vapor will do to people after long term use such as 10, 20, 30+ years. For now its unknown what long term vaping may do, but what IS known is that smoking IS very bad, and vaping certainly seems better for you at least in the short term.

Any thoughts? Comments? Thanks!

Excluding high temperature vaping, we already know the effects of nicotine, PG, and VG. Nicotine alone is effectively a stimulant. Nothing fancy or surprising. VG and PG are both largely inert, until the temps rise high enough to cause them to break down into some pretty nasty chemicals(there's that high temperature thing I mentioned). The flavors are really the primary wild card. We know that some flavors contain chemicals known to cause issues(diacetyl/acetyl pyrozine). However NO flavors are really designed for inhalation, so the question of their long term use is largely unknown.

@nick I wasn't trying to state so much that I have a dilemma. Just asking some questions, and trying to hear some thoughts. It may very well be true one day that long-term vaping is worse than smoking, though i don't really see that happen anything is possible. My point is weighing that I know smoking is bad short term and long term, and i also know that vaping seems fine enough for the short term, with long term up for question.

@ronda do you know what specifically what these high temps are?

even with the flavors science indicates vaping to be 98% plus or minus 1%
safer than smoking cigarettes.
could there be long term effects?
for the sake of argument lets say yes. however i do not believe any
long term effects will be any where near what smoking would cause.
all if any ill effects would easily be avoided and work around's found.
worst case scenario some flavors may have to be avoided.

The "breakdown" temps are floating around on this forum, or are a google away if you know what to search for. The exact numbers escape me at the moment though.

I look for reports that talk of dangers. Few, if any, reference facts or studies. I just posted a Penn State University study on the CASAA Facebook page that goes the other direction. It is there for the read.

My whole career (35 years) was based on my ability to look at issues with a neutral mind. With that, I see this health issue as something that can be looked at, but not needing the intense scrutiny that it has to this point. I know that is a very short thought, too.

Really, I see it as a harm reduction issue for myself. Cigarettes just have so many known chemicals that are known to be dangerous. I don't find that with vaping, at least not until this point.

I know that my health has improved. That is really my bottom line. If findings come out to change my thinking, I will adjust to benefit my health.

One thing that I wish would occur is that quality of products would be worked towards.
