I'm a dinosaur, and I know it. The world of vaping has passed me by and I don't care. I love what I vape, I so enjoy building my beloved gennies, and I dearly love my tube mechs. I got the best that were made while I still could, and I'm still collecting gennies. To me nothing beats mesh and kanthal builds, and I don't need to coil for .12 ohm to be happy. I'm like a diplodocus happily munching on the mesh leaves of a tree extinct 60 million years ago, and not needing to blow supercell wall clouds for satisfaction.

I can't go into a vape store and feel at all welcome there. I feel like maybe I shouldn't be there. To confirm it I'm treated that way too when they see what I vape. I get a mixture of indifference and condescension. It's clear that vaping evolution has passed me by, and I'm a member of a species nearing extinction, living outside vaping society.

Those on the inside have electronic box mods in their mitts, topped with whopping drippers from which they blow Atlantic fog banks in competition with each other. The only tube mechs they would use are stacked copper 26650's. Few of them have any idea what a genny is. It's the ancient history buffs who do.

But I have my niche, I'm happy with it, and their ways do not mesh with mine. Happily my gennies and mechs will last me many years and I will always be able to build the way I enjoy. There's just won't be anyone to share that with, unless I occasionally happen across another vaping sauropod.

Everyone needs to collect something. I collect old mechanical wristwatches (most recently worn by T-Rex). I also collect Kayfun Lites V1. While the wristwatches can get a little pricey (even tho' you hardly ever see the kids of today wearing them), there is always some vendor liquidating their stock of antique Kayfuns--I bought my last one for $10.

I always feel like the world of vapeing is evolving and passing me by. But honestly I don't mind. Like you, I found my niche. I love my Reo and simple RM2. I was in a vape shop a few weeks ago. The guy behind the counter told me my setup was outdated and I needed a sub tank. I just politely smiled, and soon left, never to return. I mean to each their own, but I think you're very fortunate if you find that one setup that finally works for you.

I have the feeling if I would go back in a month or two, he would be blowing clouds on the next "big thing" the sub tank he tried to sell me, outdated and forgotten. I'll still be happy with my Reo.

I go to the local red tractor dealer, (Whites for you Trucker) and I wanna know why its called CaseInternational and not Farmall like I want it to be.

Why can't I buy a 1066?? Do I want to live in a world where I can't buy a new 1066?? Everyone knows its the greatest tractor ever made.

You been dealing with you stuff being obsolete for a couple years?? Boo hoo I been dealing with the end of Farmall since the black strip era in 1976.

Vape stuff?? Its all brand new. I think the whole industry is under 10 years old. I know what my sweet spot it and its where I spend most of my time. Doesn't interest me in the least what other people are doing unless they ask me or I ask them.

When new things come out I like to try them. A new tank or whatever is like 30 bucks which not to be mean or anything isn't alot of money to me. Sometimes I like it. Sometimes I don't. Someday something could be my new sweet spot although so far nothing has.

Vape shops sell what sells. Its that simple. Somethings in life move in cycles so its possible some older stuff could come back but if your running a store and you ain't selling what sells you are not going to be open if the cycle changes. I have a vape shop here in town that believes in Mechs, Gennies and RBA's. He does not believe in regulated and most tanks except a couple RTA's. He's not going to be there much longer. I go hang out sometimes and I'm the only one in the place everytime. I don't want a Kracken I want a Triton. But he only has the Kracken. So tomorrow I'm gonna take the truck to Rome and buy a Triton. The buyers control the market not the sellers.

I saw a cartoon once that I wish I'd gotten a copy of, and I think of it when I go into vape stores and see the young cloud chasing tatooed pierced dripper fanatics with their gizmo boxes showing off for each other.

The cartoon is of two very old men in rocking chairs on the front porch of a rest home. They are heavily tatooed and pierced. One says to the the other, "I see that back in the 80's you were an idiot too... "

I think you are visiting the Wrong B&M's. We have several around my little town and each has its own niche.
One is a prime in-house Mixing specialist into more Sub-ohm but fluid to customer needs.
Another is like walking into a Jewelry store and shopping Budget or character. Ramping up at each display. Walls lined with many manufacturers e-liquids. A something for everyone store. They cater to almost any need from Cig-a-like to Cloud chaser and are always customer attentive.

If I was a dinosaur, I would be a badasaurus rex...............

Stompin through the jungle, eatin cavemen like skittles.

Sitting here with me stillair on my ol magnetic with dual 30 g coils at .47 ish on 3mm silica.

Old school rebuilding skill trumps a wattage dial anyday.

Its good to be a dinosaur.

As soon as I had to explain how my genesis worked I quit caring about my local vape shops.

I've been to every B&M in Cape Coma, and Ft. Meyers, and they are ALL the wrong B&M's. If you use gennies on mechs and make your own juice they have no use for you whatsoever. Happily, I have no use for them either :)

Strange.. When I walk into the local B&M and the new employee starts trying to sell me junk I just pull one of these out of my pocket. Shuts them right up.

LOL! I enjoy doing that too! I pull these out.

It's best to let them go on for a while and ask them questions about the junk they are pushing before pulling them out :D

Ok, ill play 'devils advocate', if you have no use for new equipment/are happy with your setup (ie no desire to purchase/look at anything new) and DIY your own juice, why even go to a B&M?

Most shops are in the business of selling things first, and sitting around shooting the breeze with someone who is not in the market (and likely won't be anytime soon/ever) for the products they sell, is a money losing proposition, especially when said customer is seemingly openly hostile to the newer tech/vaping practices of others...

As an ex small business owner I know and understand the pains of attempting to satisfy everyone's needs. I do however agree one should be as knowledgeable in their chosen field as possible. It is best to at least seem intelligent enough to assist anyone coming in. They just might bring someone else back that you can sell to.

Oh how I wish there were such shops, but here it's all the same trend, from Cape Coma to Naples and beyond. No shop carries any gennies, and their employees will disparage them readily. I see that same trend online as well. There are precious few threads about hardware I can say anything in, and even in the genny forum here the dripper gang would intrude to push their thing. On Reddit there are several vaping sub-Reddits, and almost zero in any of them about gennies. Bring up the subject and you get negative responses.

I'm lost as well.

Be like me stopping at a Dodge dealer. I'm perfectly happy with my Chevy and I hate everything Dodge. So I stop at the Dodge dealer and let the salesman do his thing. Then say I only buy Chevy's and leave in a huff. I'm all super proud of myself and the salesman is wondering what the heck just happened.

I've found an open mind and a friendly attitude is my passport into vape shops in any area. Most times I leave without buying anything but I always have a good time and meet lots of interesting people.
