Just got from a week at Ocean City hanging out on the beach. I was staying in a hotel with a balcony so I could pop out there for a vape. I walked 2 or 3 miles up the beachfront and the same along the first street inland, which were both lined with tourist shops. I spotted at least a couple of dozen vape shops there. A lot of them shared their space with piercing, henna tattoos, shades, etc.

I vaped walking along the beachfront boardwalk which was non-smoking. Lots of other people vaping there. I saw some trying to do it discreetly sucking on something hidden in their hands and others being open about it. I started out being discreet, later I just waited until I had a little space around me so I wouldn’t envelope other people in my puny 10W cloud. Never saw anyone complain or even flash dirty looks. I even did it in the outside eating areas.

I didn't try to vape on the beach. Seemed like too much trouble to keep it dry and sand free. The good thing was it wasn't a problem being vapeless for a few hours. I couldn't have gone without a cig for that long.

I did have one eye opening experience coming home. We stopped at a motel for the night coming home, in Virginia. They had smoking rooms, I got one so I could vape inside instead of walking out to the exit. I’ll never do that again. When I got to the corridor where the smoking rooms were the smell was overpowering. It made me gag. The room was even worse, and the windows didn’t open. Couldn't wait to get out in the morning. I guess 30 years ago all hotels smelled like that, and all restaurants and cinemas and offices and every other public place. I think I get now why people hated us so much and sent us outside. I never even noticed it when I was a smoker.
