I always wondered if vaping would set of the smoke detector and just haven't got around to trying it at home, thanks!
I haven't yet, but I plan on it, as others have said lots of other products leave lingering scents, shampoo, hairspray, perfume, bath salts, soap.......etc.
I am one who generally follws the smoking rules. However, in this case I don't see the point. I haven't stayed at a hotel yet but I would vape there. My mom's condo complex is non-smoking. I vape in her condo, but I pick something unflavored or mildly scented. I figure if I have to endure floral scented air freshner in the hallway which I'm allergic to, my behavior is not any different or worse, If someone did have an issue with it, I would stop.
Actually, they will. There was a thread about this very thing not long ago. Smoke detectors sense particles in the air. Your vape plumes are just that. Hell, I've had my smoke detector go off in my house from excessive steam from cooking. Don't risk the airplane bathroom.
I basically live in hotel rooms... And not only do I vape like a mad man in there but all of my vaping gear (RBA, blow torche, tools, tons of bottles etc etc) is layed out on the small table right now. My hotel room looks like a pipe bomb lab and I had no problem with the cleaning ladies for the last 4 weeks here.
The smoke detector doesnt seem to detect the huge clouds of vapor that i'm puffing out of my sub ohm gennies what so ever either.

I just got home from a cruise last week and vaped the whole time in cabin. Also the passageways and elevators. Nobody said anything to me and smoking in your room is a big no no on a ship.
I saw a video on youtube yesterday about a guy testing vaping and smoke detectors..... Basically you have to blow your plume directly on the detector, but it*will* set it off.
I'm just vaping on the other side of my hotel room.

I got a free rental courtesy of nissan a few days ago while my car was getting worked on. Their smoking policy is they hit you with a $350 charge if there's any evidence that you smoked in the car. I didn't hesitate for even a second to vape in the car. I vaped every time I drove it, up until the minute I dropped it off yesterday, usually with windows closed. No problems whatsoever. It doesn't leave any evidence, so I don't see how there could be a problem. . .
I vape everywhere, non smoking or not. Vaping is not smoking but I am discreet about it when in public non smoking areas. As for hotel rooms I think the main reason they are non smoking is because of the gross smell of cigarettes, that is not an issue with vape and there is no way they will ever know.
Hotel rooms are the reason I first tried an e-cig!

Travel all the time and always vape in my hotel room. The question is, why wouldn't you. Its not smoke

Yes. Absolutely, unequivocally yes. My toothpaste is more likely to leave evidence of use than my vaping.
I haven't stayed in a hotel for quite a while now, not even sure what rules there are in UK hotels regarding vaping, but as others have said it doesn't leave any lasting evidence so I don't see any harm in it at all.

I would. I vape in rental cars. Personally I'd be so happy to know that vaping was the freakiest, most potentially offensive thing that happened in a hotel room I was staying in. Because it could be so much worse.
