I don't know about others but for me (I'm a waitress) I used to get yelled at by my boss if I tried to leave during dinner service, I have now been "stealth vaping" and blowing it into my sleeve, no one seems to notice and one of my co-workers just thought I was chewing on the end of a pen lol! (I have a 510) I'm not ready to tell everyone yet as it is still really new to me :)

Im a designer and I work 12 hours a day in front of the PC (9 in my studio and 3 at home). I heavliy vape during these times, and my go-to device is a 510 usb passthrough and my mobile device is an eGo.

I just sold the fact to my buddies over at the studio that my vaping actually makes the air a bit more fragrant, and they do agree that whatever flavor im dripping, they smell the same cotton-candy scent.

If you want to avoid the talk, you may do what some threads here describe as "ninja" vaping, which is actually just prolonging the vapor inside your lungs for a few seconds to make the vape marginally thinner to almost invisible :)

I think anyone should be able to "vape" at work. I advise ANYONE to watch Penn and Teller's show "Bullpoop"(spelled a little differently) on Showtime about "Second Hand Smoking". Actually the show is a series where two magicians, Penn and Teller, debunk rubbish that has brainwashed our society into believing misinformation which is MOSTLY used to gain some sort of profit. Everything from fortune telling to, well, second hand smoking.:D

There is NO evidence showing anyone ever getting cancer from second hand smoke, according to cited information in that episode. Leave it to a bunch of "yahoo's" to ban smoking in public places which is probably in all US states by now.

I just asked permission today and they were good with it! The boss said, "It's no different than the steam coming of a cup of coffee, so I don't see what the problem would be. Besides, you'll be more productive now since you won't be going outside for a smoke. I'm glad you're quitting smoking too." It's been great!

That was my argument! Our workplace has a ban on all smoking on company premises come 1/1/2011. Because of this, well, a few of us have been taking more ciggy breaks than usual. The CEO decided we had to stop taking our breaks together, and that he wouldn't pay for our breaks since he already pays us for our hour lunch. Otherwise, we'd have to cut our lunch for each smoke break.

With this ban on smoking, I decided I needed an alternative. I found this forum and began reading... and studying... for a week. Then I bought my KR808s. I showed them to the boss, explained what they are and how they work using the cup of coffee analogy, and he has no problem with me vaping at my desk. I also used the "nicotine is no more a drug than caffeine or chocolate... a stimulant" talk.

I am a Network Admin, and the sole IT guy for the entire company. I now vape anytime, anywhere, though I have enough class to not vape at a meeting, lol. I love it, and because it's not "Smoking", I can do it anywhere.

PS. My office smells like cappuccino and rum on any given day!

I work security at a hospital. 12 hour graveyard shifts. Smoking really wasn't a problem except for having to have someone cover my post if I was inside to go out and grab a quick one.
The guys I work with, one other smokes, are pretty good about breaking each other whether they smoke or not. We also have vehicles we drive to patrol and give escorts. Always had to stop and get out to have a smoke.

Now I will vape practically anywhere that is unoccupied with no one close by..
I am loving the fact that I don't have to tie someone else up to accommodate me or my habit. I love not smelling like smoke when I walk back into the office. Also got to be aware of the cameras. I am careful because of perception, folks would utterly flip out if they thought you were smoking anywhere near area not allowed or indoors. I mean come on, its a hospital. Better to fly under the radar than start a big fight you can't win.

I started vaping on a Saturday. I walking into the office on Tuesday, and did a "Hey check this out!"

I work IT so people were pretty accepting, they were also jazzed that the only smoker in the office would no longer be smoking. I vape anywhere (though not at meetings), a few people from other departments asked about the "second hand smoke." They seemed to be cool with it after a short discussion about PV, VG, and stimulants. One guy even asked me if I could give him some info to help his wife quit smoking.

Vape On!

I vape at my desk but I don't advertise it and try to stay as stealth as I can. Another manager that works in the same area knows I do and hasn't said anything. I don't do it in plain site. They all know what it is about because I have been very vocal about what it is and what it has done for me. Even when I am walking thru the factory, if no one is around I grab a quick vape, It's awesome. I used to run outside every 30-60 minutes and grab 5 or 6 puffs and throw the analog out. Not any more!

I have not asked permision but I have converted several fellow workers and when the time is right I am going to recommend that they allow it because it equates to better productivity for the company.

I have told the employees that work for me that have converted that I don't care if they do it stealth just don't get caught. Don't ask, don't tell. I even sugessted to one to keep it in his pocket and when he makes bathroom trips to make sure he grabs a couple vapes.

I Love it!

I've not broached this subject yet with my company. We're large (Fortune 50) and have a very strict "no smoking on company property" policy, so trying to make any change will be a great undertaking. I think going with a "people can use these to quit smoking" angle would have a shot, but after half the building is vaping for 5+ years, HR will probably realize they've been duped, heh.

I work in a position that requires me or another employee to be present at all times, so stepping out isn't always possible. That said, nearly all of my coworkers and my boss smoke, so everyone grabs a smoke when they can and no one minds. Actually I don't mind having to leave the grounds to smoke; it gets me out of the office for ten minutes or so ...

I have grown accustomed to only smoking at breaks. So vaping is the same. I probably could vape at work. I have my own office, so all I'd have to do is shut the door and not be too obvious about it. I have actually vaped in the office when working late with no one else around though. I just prefer to vape on my own time. At lunch I pretty much fill the interior of my car with a fog. We have 2 beer kegs in the office and a 42 inch screen for watching sports etc. so my boss is pretty liberal, but I haven't even thought to ask. I think everyone assumes I quit as I no longer smell of smoke, so it's really not an issue for me, I'd prefer they just assume away. Although if someone sees me at lunch they might wonder what I am smoking, lol.

Another engineer from a biggie firm. 100% tobacco free on the campus, went into effect a few months back, in theory people have to go onto the roads to smoke (hit by a car -- another smoking-related fatality!).
My office area is a decent space, and I've always had a fan running. Haven't mentioned it directly to the boss, though colleagues know what I'm doing, are curious to see it. I vape when I want in my office,
An advantage of being a long-timer at work -- "it must be okay if he's doing it" :) As far as I can tell I'm not actually violating policy, so am using don't-ask-don't-tell. In big companies it can take a loooong time to get any formal policy decisions, that's why I'm pretty low-key about it, without hiding it in any way.

I don't share my office, so it's no problem at all. My boss and quite a few other people in the building do know that I vape. No one really cares about it other than being glad I don't smoke any more. That said, it's not "official" permission, and I'm careful not to vape around anyone who might not get it. My second job is with a very small group and I vape in the staff room, not in front of the clients.

My workplace is kewl, it's totally allowed inside. Our sups went to HR with our request to clarify, and asked flat out, "allowed or not?" HR doesn't have a problem with it.
I work with Exchange servers (geek central), and sometimes we have issues where breaks, lunches, bathrooms get put on the standby till the issue is resolved (or, they don't need us anymore) So, we can vape at our desks, we aren't going hog wild with it, but I tell ya, when it's in the middle of an event, and you are stressed, it's gonna be darn nice to pick up my PV and take a nice puff or two.

Oh yea...and the CEO at my base hospital got a Tornado after vaping on mine....score!!!! Find a boss that smokes and get them hooked!!!!!

I work for a small computer shop, and today was my first full work day with an ecig, i have two co-workers and neither seemed to mind, I had a breif 'talk' to my boss, he didnt seem to mind. Though I have to admit, I wasn't vaping properly (drawing too hard) and either broke my atomizer in or just worked out the right strength of draw for my ecig, because now im getting tonnes of vapor! :>

saying that though, I dont plan to vape around customers, or in the shopfront at all, just while im out the back of the store getting jobs done.

I'm a self-employed lawyer, so I have no boss to worry about. However, in the past, whenever I wanted a smoke, I would have to go outside the courthouse, which was a major inconvenience.

Now, although I wouldn't think of vaping in a courtroom, whenever we have a recess or waiting for a judge, I just slip into a stairwell or restroom and cop a few vapes. The other day, while I was vaping in a stairwell, I ran into one of the judges who is a smoker. He had never heard of a PV, and was very interested, so I wrote down this forum's URL for him.

I practice primarily family law and, ironically, I have one several child custody cases in large part because the opposing party was a smoker who smoked around the child(ren), which most judges frown upon. It will be interesting how vaping might be received in a similar scenario. It's only a matter of time.

I work in a large factory where smoking is banned except outside designated smoking areas. When I inquired about the policy on e-cigs the safety rep informed me the issue was previously investigated and they are banned.

Never the less since I have my own office and understanding coworkers I will vape in my office if no one else is there with me. Those who work near me know whats up and do not complain. No ones turned me in yet. :vapor:
