Are you seeing my sig? What is the image url you are using?

All I'm seeing in your sig is the "X".

I tried it again with a pic 600x100 and it seemed to work!!!! It looks great! But, when I try to put it in my sig, I get this error:
The following errors occurred with your submission
Your signature cannot be longer than 250 characters excluding BB code markup.
Your signature contains too many lines and must be shortened. You may only have up to 3 line(s). Long text may have been implicitly wrapped, causing it to be counted as multiple lines.

I'll try again...max size is 400x65!!!!

EDIT: tied with 400x65 and I'm still getting the same error message.

You may already be doing this, but make sure you put the url between "
" tags, or click on the insert image button and paste your url

Yeah, I've been doing that but I still get the error message. You didn't have any problem geeting it in your sig? (I still can't see yours....only the "X").

I've been having a problem seeing several signatures from several users for quite sometime now. Seems to relate more to those using "counters" but some counters do display properly.

Lately, counter sigs, my own included, show up as image placeholders in IE8 on both XP and Vista machines.

Maybe your browser can't handle png images? I have checked from several machines here and can see my sig on all of them. The generated image is a png.

If you'll go up a couple of posts you'll see where I posted the results directky as an image. It's a png and I can see it fine. I can see yours and I cant attach my to my sig.

I'll dink around with it some more and try to figure it out.

I did click properties on your sig and it's pretty small ... 30x20 or something? Clear your Cashe and see if you can still see it.

Would a URL-shortener like ....... work for that? Might be difficult to tie it into your generator but perhaps individual users could use ....... (or another service) to shorten it.

Just thinkin' on the fly...

I didn't know there was such a thing as an URL shortener. Photobucket has a long descriptor. I can leave out the costs on the counter and I get it down to 277 characters. Close...but no cigar. (pun intended!) By the way Scott, I can see your sig either...just a red X. Can you see my background sig?

I can see your blank signature image.

Didn't realize the forum would strip the name of the URL shortener/compressor I mentioned. Perhaps a full link will work: http://......./

If not, it's very simply bit (dot) ly, with an actual period of course, and no spaces.

I tried the shortener but it just said "invalid file type" when I tried to put it in the signature. Good idea though.

Original: http://mbtproj01.microbeef.com:7070...ss characters...and the shortener won't work.

Not sure about the 250 character business. According to that, BB code markup, which the IMG tags should be, don't count as part of the 250 characters

Jman...I'm not really up to snuff on all this computer crap. But when I renamed my pic on photobucket from "quitsmokingbanner" to "1" the character count went down. In addition, if I left of the costs off in the generator, the character count went down. But it's still 27 characters too long and it's still 4 lines of code (3 lines max) (barely).

By the way, this website just gives the message that your over (characters and length) but doesn't give the amount. I used another site that actually tells me how much I over (both chracters and length) on the signature block.

I don't think the type of file (png/jpeg etc) really matters. IS THERE ANYWAY TO SHORTEN THE DESCRIPTOR ON YOUR END? ie MBTPROJ1.MICROBEEF TO M1.MB ???
