Vaping for 1 week...QUIT smoking!!! Have a few questions.

Hello all....I'm quite pleased to have found this forum. I can't believe how in a matter of a week i can't even stomach a analog cig. My story is probably pretty common for a noob. I got the Blu starter kit. I had all the common problems. Poor battery life, virtually no throat hit and weak vapor. I thought this was just how e cigs were. I had seen a few nice vaporizers from some friends, now i know they were mods since ive been looking around on here a lot recently, but i never vaped them and never knew about the sub culture of vaping and, most important to me, how they would lead me to quit smoking!!! I'm looking forward to being part of this forum and i do have a few quick questions.....
Soooo.....i started off with a very cheap starter kit made by beauticig, the BLISSIE model. Yeah, I'm a 34 year old dude and apparently this is aimed toward women. Oh well! I doubt anyone's heard of this out-of-the-box mod, if you could call it that? But i just wanted to try something first before i committed. So far, im quite pleased with it though i really am! I know its a cheaply made device and all but it gives a real nice thick warm vapor, maybe i just like it so much because it drags like 10 times better than Blu. Got myself some delicious juices which i had researched beforehand. Got my local shop's RY 4, which is yummy, and a little treat, SPACE JAM Pluto, which i LOVE LOVE LOVE! So my question is, how often should i change out coils? Like i said I'll be buying something better , but not until this battery craps out because like i said for a cheap starter device, it does what i need it to do.
I'm starting to taste a slight burnt kinda taste mixed in with my yummy juices. Nothing too crazy, but i never noticed it before. Is this my coil going already after 1 week?
Thanks to the admins and everyone here for creating such a wonderful place and im glad to be here! Oh and long shot but has anyone actually heard of the BLISSIE?? It looks like a tube of lipstick LOL but like i said it hits real nice and produces alot of vapor.
Much love from tha Illadelph
EAST COAST!!!

Congrats on the week. Today is actually my first day without a cigarette. I can't answer your question for sure but I have heard the burnt taste is from the coil or the wick needing to be replaced. I can't speak from experience because I've only had my starter kit for 4 days. I also started with a Blu. It sucked. I went back to smoking and gave up on e-cigs. A vape shop opened up next to where I work and I ended up getting a Kanger starter kit. I don't know all the technical terms yet but it is way better than a Blu (and way cheaper). I'm almost 24 hours smoke free and I can't believe it.

Thanks so much guys!! I'm excited about this. Its so great to hear from both a 40 year smoker who quit with vaping telling me that it gets better and better, and another person who is on day one of no cigs....keep it up and i will too!! These e juices I'm finding are ridiculously abundant and tasty, analogs are NASTY in comparison. Truly never thought I'd say my Marlboro blacks were nasty. Ugh....so happy to have been turned on to vaping!!! Hoping to talk to you all soon and thanks for replying to my first post!

That's amazing!!! I tried so many methods before to quit. Who'd have thought there was one out there that was so enjoyable and lets you taper your nic levels to what you desire. Awesome to hear you went down to 6 mg nic. Im at 12 right now. Im going for 8 next week. I love this! Again thanks for the response and kind words. Cheers.

Congrats on joining the smoke free side.
I've been smoking for 35 years and quit cigs the day we got our ego kits. ECF, Google and Youtube were my only vape companions, research your buys, don't be afraid to ask, learn what atty you have(can it be rebuilt or toss away) how to DIY that stock coil to get the best it can give you or just start rebuilding your own, once you vape a homebuilt coil you'll never vape a factory coil again. It gonna cost a few bucks to find "your" setup but once your there its a great run after that. I have the drippers, army of mechs and mods but I vape homebuilt single coil protanks and been vaping those for well over a year now, my wife and I have had nothing short of a great vape experience. I haven't bothered with any dual coil factory heads since if I want a dual coil I'd build a dripper. Those companies can't get a single coil head to work properly so how the heck can they have a dual or vertical coil work efficiently. There is a steep learning curve with vaping and the more you learn then the better you'll vape.

Alterurego...thanks for the info!! You seem to have a lot of knowledge, which makes the experience better right?! I'm gonna re read over your reply and find out about building coils etc. Im so green right now, my cheap little Blissie kit will work for now but I'm excited to get my first real mod next week!!! Will report back. Now to vape some SPACE JAM Pluto!!! Mmmmm!!!

A week is not out of the question, for some ejuices. Some of them just trash coils and wicks faster than others; my regular Virginia is very clean-vaping, but since adding WTA (whole tobacco alkaloids) it trashes the wick a lot faster. And I have some juice that's a combo of Blueberry Muffin/Banana Nut Bread and it trashes a carto in a week, even though usually cartos can last 2 or even 3 weeks.

It just depends on the juice.

Hello Andria and thanks so much for this info! I am very much a noob. I barely understand how coils work. Well i hve a basic grasp on this, but what i didn't know was that certain juices wear coils faster than others.
Question for you: My coil is metal and doesn't have a wick? Is that right? I definitely don't see any kind of wick in there. I purchased a very cheap little out of the box mod, if i could call it a mod. Anyway, how often on average should i change coils?? Again im SPANKIN NEW to this wonderful world of vaping and i want to absorb so much right now. Also, are coils really cheap parts, generally speaking? Thanks in advance fir taking the time to help a new yet extremely enthusiastic vaper who is passionate and a fast learner. I could learn a lot from all of you!!! Thanks friend! !

Welcome to ECF

Congrats on quitting!
I looked up your current setup online. It says the head (Coil) is changeable. It screws in the bottom.
If you got the Blissie from a local shop they could sell the coils separately.

Vape Happy Vape ON!

Thanks so much buddy! Man you guys are all so nice and helpful. I mean you even looked up my setup and now i know i can get the coils from my shop. I figured as much but now i know!! I hope to be stepping my equipment game up real soon. Only got the Blissie because i was told it was cheap and needed to be charged alot but would be great to test the waters persay, see if i liked vaping. Well not only do i LIKE it, i LOVE it and i virtually instantly quit smoking!! Much respect and many thanks.
Cheers, Sean M

Since your gonna get a mech and more sooner than later going to begin a epic journey of building or rebuilding with low ohm coils. Get yourself some 30 or 35 amp batts instead of the regular 10 amp. They are more versatile with vaping a good sub ohm build then take that batt and put it into your VV device and continue vaping, something you shouldn't do with 10 amp cause of the dangers of vaping low ohm builds with the wrong battery. Here's a good read on some battery safety

I really can't say for sure, since I've never heard of that particular e-cig, but there most likely is a wick, but the whole head may be enclosed so you don't actually see it; that's how the replaceable-head type seem to be moving these days. I didn't find anything about heads for it at the beauticig website, but that's not unusual for chinese websites. I agree that wherever you bought it should be able to advise you about heads for it, may offer them for sale. It *appears* to be the bottom-coil type, and that usually means a wick of some kind, usually silica in commercially-made heads, inside the coil, which is just a piece of wire coiled so it looks like a spring. The wick fits inside it and holds the eliquid so the coil can vaporize it. Some eliquids have various substances in them -- sweeteners, colors, etc, that build up in the wick/coil over use, like burnt stuff, and that's what you're probably tasting. Since you are so new, right now your best option will be to just replace the head -- the coil and wick in the little enclosure. Later, you may either move to a different type with more widely (and inexpensively, maybe) available heads, or you may learn to dry-burn your coils to extend their life, and/or learn to rebuild your coils when the old ones wear out.

And hey, welcome to ECF, and a whole new world! :thumb:
