Cheers all for the encouragement and experiences.
It's nice to know everyone has to start somewhere and is a nice little spur along.

I'm in the Netherlands, so I too was wary of ordering stuff from outside europe. Found this place, they have quite the selection and good service, and they say they ship throughout Benelux for free: EBN Ferro Dutch

Thanks heaps for that link, they have a much bigger range than the one I ordered from yesterday which was also from the Netherlands.
No free shipping though so I think I will definitely check these guys out next time I order.

Yeah try them. They say it should take no more than 5 business days for delivery inside Benelux, but I ordered on Tuesday evening, got an email on Wednesday (yesterday) and today I got my stuff, so I figure if I order in the morning it's a good change I'll have the stuff the next day when the mail man comes over :)

Just out of curiosity, what other website did you order from?

you're doing great (especially living with another smoker... I was lucky and my husband switched to a PV with me). everyone has their own timeline when it comes to giving up their smokes. I just hit one week cigarette-free and what really helped me to not jones for a smoke was to change my environment: I don't vape where I used to smoke. I've set up a new comfy place completely different from where I always smoked before and it's helped me break the connection/ritual to my cigarettes.

Thanks wonderland. :)
I have a pretty set routine but I see what you are saying, I can shake it up a bit if I try hard enough.

Yeah most things I order online either come from France and Germany and are normally fairly quick with standard post so I don't see why the Netherlands should be much longer.

It was easy eliquids, they were pretty much the first site I came across so I raided their specials offers. Good prices but I have no idea about the quality.

I dropped rapidly to a few a day.... then I was going days without but I'd still chain smoke 4 or 5 on a Friday night. Eventually, I learned to trust that I didn't in fact NEED to smoke. I think I psychologically created a cig craving because I didn't have a physical craving. I still have one if I really want one, but the last time I took 5 puffs, I puked. That was July 22nd. This weekend I took 2 puffs from one and it was completely unsatisfying. I finally got to the point where I'm not romanticizing how good a real one will be. It's not. It tastes like hell and I get way more vapor than smoke. You'll get there. Give it time.

I started out using the cig-alikes from Smokeless Image after a pack per day 30 year history. They are really a very good product, and I knew right away that I could quit using them. I didn't put any strict limits on my analog intake when I began vaping. At first I vaped as much as I wanted while allowing myself a few cigarettes a day. Within a few days, I was only wanting a couple at bedtime and enjoying them less. I never bought another pack after my last one went empty, the Volt mini's were more satisfying than the analogs.

I did end up buying another pack a couple of weeks after "quitting". I had gotten lazy recharging my 4 Volt batteries that would last me 2-3 hours each, and I panicked when I realized I had no freshly charged batteries to vape on. I made a stressed out decision to buy my old favorite brand while the Volts recharged. God that cigarette tasted awful! I finished it, not really enjoying it. I never smoked another one and it has been over 3 months.

Thanks again for the responses. :)

A couple of other things I have noticed is that I am getting hungry, more so than usual. Not sure what to make of this development other to drink more water to try and help, I don't really need extra food. I suppose there are less appetite suppressants in my system now.

Also at some point last night all of the sudden my juices started to taste very nice, that can continue if it likes.

Yeah - stuff like that happens.

You may find bursts of increased taste and odor sensations. One for me was one day I opened a can of coffee - it only had about one serving left in it - and it was like Wow! That really smells like coffee!!! Seemed like total sensory overload at the time. And we're only talking Maxwell House here...

As you get your taste buds back and your tongue loses that nasty coating from smoking everything tastes better. You may go through fits of increased eating, but from what I recall in the ECF polls the majority of us do not put on extra weight changing over to vaping.

And one of the great mysteries of vaping: As you transition you may find cigarettes become less and less desirable. That happened to me and it happens to most of us. For those last several weeks when I smoked a .... I never really liked it. They started to remind me of that very first cigarette I smoked: They tasted lousy, the smell was horrible and I kept getting an unpleasant light headed dizziness or buzz when I smoked. It just happened and I never saw it coming. Real deja vu. In a very wondrous way, smoking cigarettes became their own worst negative reinforcement.

As far as the withdrawal stuff goes - it sounds like what you describe is just normal quit smoking withdrawal. Keep in mind that this isn't just about the nicotine. Your body is going through a lot of adjustments not getting all the other crap that comes with burning processed tobacco. The first two weeks for me were the baddest and the withdrawal problems pretty much went away after 14 days.

For me I find they remind me of smoking when I'm sick with a cold or hayfever or something that mucks with your nose, they son't exactly taste nice. And if I have been vaping all day then they don't taste like anything and I don't get any hit from it, it's like breathing air.
All positives I think.

Yesterday was a rough day for me being really grumpy but I felt a bit better physically, today has been much better.

Hey all,

Well I have been vaping for close to 4 days now and I feel like sharing my experience. Sorry if this is the wrong section for it.
So pretty much as soon as I discovered what an electronic cigarette was I was instantly drawn to them, I had been considering giving up the analogues and this looked like it might be a great tool to do so.
After some albeit minimal research I placed an order for a Volcano Inferno starter kit, predominantly because I could choose it in a nice annodized blue(green would of been preferable but hey-ho). I also ordered extra RY4 and Tobacco juice so I wouldn't run out straight away.

On Monday afternoon it arrived and I was unusually excited about my purchase and spent some time figuring everything out and my first impressions were very positive. I'm not sure what I was entirely expecting but the whole experience was far more enjoyable than smoking an analogue. I started off using a cartomizer with the tobacco flavoured juice and I guess the most surprising aspect was I was getting a good TH from it followed by a pleasant almost cola/caramel/sugary aftertaste and I was thinking to myself that this may just work out.

I have read plenty of reports saying that as soon as people pick up their PV that they can stop the analogues straight away, this hasn't been the case for me but the situation is improving every day, I think the first day or 2 is about trying to get the feel for it more than anything.
On day 2 I decided to fill up the tube tank with the RY4 and on the larger of the batteries and well... all I can say is this is by far my favourite of the two methods I have tried, how much of that is due to the RY4 being delicious I'm not sure but the TH is substantial and the taste great and nice big satisfying vapour clouds. I haven't even tried out the atty I got yet either.
I'm not sure how long a carto is supposed to last me but I haven't had to replace one yet, then again I'm not sure what the signs are that it needs replacing, presumably it stops working and tastes like crap.

The wife finds it all a bit strange still, but is totally supportive but I can't get her to have a taste. I think she thinks it's just a phase and won't work. Maybe, truth be told I haven't a clue what goes on in there so... probably best not to speculate.

So where I'm at now... Yesterday was the first big test, it was to go all afternoon without having a analogue and unfortunately that coincided with one of the most stressful and tiresome days I have had in a while. However I passed with flying colours just using my PV, I was quite impressed with myself and instead of thinking it may work I now know it will as long as I apply myself.

I still had a few cigs that evening as I finding the habit really hard to break, I mean I want one now. I always want one, but on 24mg juice I definitely feel like I don't need one. What helps and I think this may be the critical part to stopping completely is that after vaping and then going back to a normal one I'm not getting as much satisfaction from it, the TH is almost non-existent and the taste is not so great but the habit is hard to break and there are probably a load of nasties that I'm not having which are giving me withdrawels. Still I've had a couple this morning but am going to go the whole day without anymore, I might weaken come evening time with a bottle of red but I think that will be a positive move more than a step backwards as it will reinstate the feeling that an analogue just wont cut it anymore.

I also have just found and ordered a cheap lot of e juice which I am fully prepared for it to be a bit rubbish but at least I'm in no danger of running out now and I'm looking forward to my trip to Paris so I can actually visit a physical shop

Conclusion/ tl;dr:

So far... Excellent!
For something in the space of a few days to help get me from a 2 pack a day smoker down to about half a pack is something I wouldn't of imagined being as easy as it has been.

Jeez, sorry about the long post.:p

I appreciated your post. I have been vaping for over a week but not completely off analogs either, and I find myself wondering why that is. However somewhere on this site for newbies I did find a post that said not to worry if you don't immediately make the switch and that helped me not feel so guilty. I too am finding that the analogs don't really fill much of a need, probably mostly psychological. I got some new juices, but can't say I like them much. Prefer just the tobacco tasting ones at this point. Looking forward to some I ordered from Wicked though that were highly rated by a group of reviewers here and a review I found on the internet. Hoping to be free of analogs finally today.

Hi jb80 - You're doing very well! It's been almost 5 months for me, and yes I still smoked analogs at first for a couple of weeks. It takes time, until one day you realize that vaping is satisfying enough for you and you decide to not buy any more analogs. Don't beat yourself up if you slip and have an analog - I did when I didn't order enough juice or cartos to last long enough, but went right back to vaping when my next order came in. Peace

Glad that the post was somewhat useful. :)
Sounds like your in the same boat as I am, I think the best advice I have gotten by many is there is no rush and go at your own pace, it's a tough habit to kick and everyone needs to handle it in their own way.

I got my Silver Bullet 11 days ago and I haven't touched a cigarette. I still have "cravings" but I found a very effective way to deal with it.

What I do to make things easier, is when I get a craving for a cigarette, and the little voice in my head says "A cigarette sounds great right about now", I tell myself "No, I don't need a cigarette, I need nicotine". Basically, I tell myself that because I've smoked so long, the only reason I am thinking I need a cigarette is because I am so use to it. I am just not use to thinking "A vape sounds great right about now". Does that make sense? I just convince myself that I don't really want a cigarette, but what I want is nicotine. I guess this is kinda my own version of the "Don't think of it as quitting, think of it as switching brands" method that someone else mentioned.

I know this is probably not news to you, but I guess what I am saying is you just have to find something that works for you. I hope you keep it up and don't worry about how other people quit. Just keep telling yourself that it's no big deal if you smoke still, at least you are smoking less.
