Is there someplace that explains the differences between clearomizers, cartomizers, tanks, vv/vw ? The more I look around this site the more confused I'm getting. I've been able to pick up a few things. Right now I can't even tell you what brand or type of ecig or whatever it is that I'm using. It's got a mouth piece that screws in to a clearish tank that holds the juice with some strings in it that screws on to a battery. The only markings on it are a "CE", a wreath type thing with a check mark, and a don't throw out symbol around the top of the battery.

I am only a few days ahead (time wise) of you - and I still feel somewhat lost. I have found that clicking on links to various venders and reading (and seeing) what they sell has taught me some basics. I no longer have to look up vv/vw, attx, and a few more terms.

Over the past 69 years, I have learned that "not knowing" is not always bad. For example I am using the same battery and clear thingy on top with strings inside that you put you juice in. While I have learned that my battery is most probably a EGO - 1100 mwh and the top is either a ce4 or ce5 atomizer/Clearomizer.

Not knowing what better toys are out there, I tend to be satisfied with what I have. I'm pretty sure that will change as I learn (and spend more). Right now, I am a happy non smoker that is enjoying vaping and smelling better!

***Edit*** I think my battery is Ego, NOT 510 (as I previously stated). I understand that they are very different batteries and require different chargers.

Hang in there!! It's all good.

I got this.
All of my postings are just of simple quick google searches. I am not recommending any of the sites because I probably have no prior experience with them.

Kanger 510 Horizontal Coil Cartomizer

Those are empty cartomizers. Some cartomizers are sold pre-filled with ejuice. Many stay away from pre-filled because they are usually more expensive and don't quite deliver.

AGR Carto Tank

That is a carto-tank. You prime the carto then fill the tank.

Kanger T2 EgO Clearomizer Tank System

That is a top coil clearomizer. The wicks suck juice up to the coil.

Kanger Protank-2 clearomizer – KangerTech

This is a bottom coil clearomizer. The wicks are short and the coil is on bottom. Completely different vaping experience than a top coil.

ARO 900mAh Battery, Black

That is an ego-type battery. Pretty standard for beginners. Some have a variable voltage (vv) knob at the bottom which you turn to increase or decrease voltage.

Innokin iTaste MVP V2.0 - 101 Vape

Another simple beginner-ish mod. It has variable voltage and variable wattage. Variable wattage does the same as variable voltage but automatically adjusts voltage based on the resistance of your atomizer.

Genuine Youde IGO-W - 101 Vape

This is a dripping atomizer. You drip juice onto the coil/wick setup and vape until the juice is gone. Then you drip more.

SMOKTech RSST Rebuildable Atomizer

That is an rsst. It is a decent genesis atomizer/tank. Genesis is the style of tank and coil setup. Like clearomizer vs carto-tank.

And here's a link to a few common vaping terms. http://www.hotvapes.com/Vaping_Glossary.html

These are just some of the basics. I'm sure I missed a handful.

When I first started, this whole site and vaping in general confused me! :D But I also found that everyone here were extremely helpful in answering and explaining all of my questions. It's overwhelming at first, but with time, asking questions and tinkering, it gets easier and in no time you will get it. Learn what equipment you have and as you advance you will begin to get it then before you know it.. curiosity kicks in as you start learning about the other devices out there, then before you know it.. you have this massive collection! I know.. happened to me. not that I'm complaining! I love my gear!

Yes Youtube is a great resource along with this site! :D

What an eGo type battery top looks like.
The threading you see on the outside is the eGo threading; however they also have the 510 threading on the inside.
The will work with both the eGo threaded tanks, and the more common 510 threaded tanks.

well for a newb i recomend you get an ego style device and a large smoktech dual coil carto, a protank, and a dripper atty, those 3 toppers are what you need to try to determain what you like best for hardware... everyone is differant !

then order sample packs of e juice from a few recomended vendors, halo sample pack, mountbakervapor sample pack, and diyflavorshack sample pack and see what you like for e juice. remember the same juice can taste differant in differant toppers ! you may like one juice in a carto and hate it in a clearo !

once you have been vaping for a wile and you have found a good all day vape and the gear is setup the way you want IE ego with protank or ego with a carto tank or ego and dripper atty you can buy a new advanced mod and experiment with rebuildables !!! remember to keep you ego and toppers for a backup !

so for a first mod i recomend an ego and a few differant toppers like a carto a dripper and a protank
for those who want something a lil better try a I Taste mvp and a i clear 30 setup and then get a protank and some carto tanks to see what you like

to underastand the differance between all the gear there is no substitute for experiance ! so go out and get one of everthing ! one good clearo one good cart one good dripper and one good top coil clearo and a good starter mod like an 1000mah ego or a Itaste mvp, once the gear is in your hands and you can feel and see it and how it works you will quickly get a better understanding of how it all works !

what i am trying to say is ... igues you need to just dive in and get some good recomended gear and try it out !

i would highly recomend the I taste MVP for a first mod ! its easy to use and easy to understand, you will figure it out in a single day of owning it, for toppers i highly recomend you get a protank 2 and a pack of coils, the i taste mvp comes with a top coil clearo the i clear 30 so you will have the opertunity to try out bolth top and bottom coil clearos to determain what you like. i would also recomend you pick up a simple smoktech or boge carto tank and give that a go too.

a setup like that will cost you
60$ for the i taste mvp and i clear 30
20 for the protank 2
10$ for the cato tank
20$ on e juice sample packs

so for around 110 to 120$ you will have a mod that will last you a long time and is capable of a lot of power and diversity as it has 3 differanrt thread patterns to use for toppers, and you will have a variety of toppers to use so you can get an idea of whats out there and what YOU like best !

if you want simple and cheap... well the 1000mah or greater ego passthrough and a protank would be the way to go this will cost around 50$ and get yourself some juice and few other toppers too over time

i personaly use rebuildables, drippers and silica dripper/geny attys, but my out and about gear is still just an ego and a protank ! some juice i still use in a carto tank ! i wish all juice tasted as good in a carto as they do in a clearo cause that would make life so much easyerfor me ! just fill up the carto tank and go ! but nope i like most e juice in a bottom coil clearo, tobacco juice in a top coil clearo, and lighter fruity sweets in a carto tank like the boge f16. but at home on the couch ...... everything is puffed in a mechanical mod with a RDA !

YouTube videos, loads of great information. I think most people start with (in the UK anyway) an ego style battery with a clearomizer. The ego style batteries come in different lengths, longer ones hold more power, the have a button with an led that lights when you press it, this sends a current to the contacts on your clearomizer (our liquid tank) you puff and voila, you have vapour. Clearomizers consist of a tank with wicks inside which are wrapped in a small coil, the wick draws up the liquid and the electricity passing through the coil vaporizes the liquid from the wick.
My personal preferrance to start with was a bottom filling system where the coil and wick was at the bottom over the system with a long wick. But I've just upgraded after about 6 weeks of vaping to variable voltage/wattage mod and in iclear 30. Once you know vaping is for you, its definitely worth the extra cash. Hope this helps.

Ok I've been done some research. I'm pretty sure it a clearomizer with an eGo type battery, it has threading on inside and outside.

Watched Pbusardo on youtube and it help a little, also checked out his website. I'm thinking of ordering a Kanger eVod Starter Kit as right now the one pictured is all I have and don't want to chance going back to stinkies.

Been trying to keep up with the post here thanks for the info everyone.

yup thats and ego 600 mah battery or a clone of it, and a ce4 style topper (a cleromizer top coil type)

i am vaping the veryy same setup right this moment ! except mine is 1100 mah

its a good setup but evod starter kit is exactly the same mod as you have now just with a differant topper ! you can just buy the evod topper and use it on your ego and save a lot of money !

i still recomend the i taste mvp LOL with a mod like that you have the ability to vape for almost 2 days with out worry of having to charge the battery ! also you can fine tune the taste of your juice by changing the voltage/wattage ! you can also use it as a backup battery for your cell phone if you phone battery dies ! you wont believe how many times it came in handy !!!!
the i taste mvp has 3 differant thread patterns and is compatable with almost all the toppers on the market ! its a simple but powerfull mod and mine lasted for 2 years (the v1) and would have lasted lnger but i dropped it from my motorcycle !
then you will know what other mods are like to use rather than just having a bunch of ego style sticks !

i say buy something better than an ego now .... you know 4 month from now your going to any way and if you dont do it now your going to waste a lot of money on ego's and wish you had just bought something better to begin with ! trust me LOL it happens to all of us ! we all srtart off buying a ton of ego crap and latter just wish we put the money into something better right off the bat ! i mean i am verry mechanical inclined and i wasted a lot of money on cheaper vape gear when i know for a fact i could have just goten a mech and a rda as my first mod and have been fine in less than a day ! i wish i could go back in time and take all the money i wasted on starer gear and spend it on a provari or a reo GRAND !

IMHO egos are only good for a starter mod to get you introduced to vaping and to carry to work so you dont loose your real mod !
