Greetings,
So I've been seeing a reoccurring trend on some other forums about e-cig use. The sites aren't topic related. The thread is usually titled "Suggestions: Looking for e-hookah/e-joint." The following post usually goes "I'm new to this. I'm looking for a cheap vape pen starting kit. I like to use these devices sometimes for relaxation. I don't use nicotine. vaping tastes great."

And for some reason this gets my panties in a pinch ^_^. Full on male thong wedgie. However, I shouldn't even care, because I think the idea is in every way possible redundant - in the purest form. I think, this type of person has some personal insecurities and wants to vape to make up for it. But, I also want to shake this person around until some rattles around up there and rant until something sinks in.

I guess it brings me back to when I started smoking to fit in. Stupid and clueless, I wish someone would have punched me in the head with their foot and told me "don't!". I think it adds fire to the hate media and doesn't make for a good habit. Adding, knowing what I do about e-cigs today and the sentiment I have for them. They most likely saved my life allowing me to kick the habit when nothing else did.

My question is, is using e-cigs for luxury purposes a thing now. Is it right? Or am I just a senile old guy now, that is no longer hip .

Well back in the day, cigarette were doctor approved. Not in my case though, no offense if that is your case. :]

By the time I started smoking, it was already being demonized and people knew it caused cancer. I was still a dumb kid who thought I was invincible, so ignored all of the available info.

I switched to vaping from hookah... I was smoking 2+ bowls a day (overall 4-8 hours a day just spent smoking). The first time I smoked a hookah I thought it sounded stupid, but some friends took me to a hookah bar and I really liked it. Flat out, I just liked the taste (I still remember it, it was a blueberry mint mix) and the feeling.

Now this probably seems off topic... But e-cigs and hookah are very similar. Although hookah uses tobacco, it's often tobacco soaked in vegetable glycerin with flavorings added (Sound familiar?). These people that are picking up e-cigs that have never smoked probably use them for the same reason I started smoking hookah; they like the taste and the feeling.

Where I live, a few years back hookah bars were becoming really popular. People that didn't smoke cigarettes or have any nicotine addiction would go in and enjoy a hookah either alone or with their friends. Now there's an option that's extremely similar, without exposure to a lot of the carcinogens present in smoke. What's there to get worked up over?

I'm right there with you! That's why I think I might be a bit senile. I didn't grow up with the internet and develop all this availability to everything the world has to offer. I guess we must let people make their own mistakes, else your just a troll lol.

I started vaping at 64 and was never a smoker. I find it relaxing to sit on the deck, listen to a book, and have a vape, Also watching TV is a good time. The local vape shop is a friendly place that I pass most days on a walk.

It is also a great hobby for a geek. Lots of technical stuff to buy. It's fun to look back on history and see what was the height of vaping. Look at all the mechanical solutions to a simple button and the problems each solves/creates. Right now there is the explosion of regulated devices with the SX350 about to go to 50 watts and .1 ohms. Other stuff up to 100 watts. How long ago was the DNA20 a marvel and now people scoff at only 20 watts.

I have fun vaping. We don't think it is really harmful. I don't use nicotine so it will be fairly easy to stop if I decide to. I get to spend hours here.

I think it is probably better for a smoker to vape instead and it is probably OK for a person to vape.:2c:

I notice the noneducational values in calling a e-cig a e-hookah. Perhaps it's the elitist in me, but I want to help, and they put their business out there on the web right? Although, thank you for opening my eyes to unsolicited advice. No one likes to be told things, if anything, I can at least do it in another fashion.

But I get that luxury aspect in a authentic hookah application. That is chill and social. But I don't get it if that was only PG in that hookah. I don't see the value there.
