I'm curious to know if people find themselves in general vaping more mg or ml a day then say 6 months, a year ago, etc. This is my first day vaping. I love it so far. Two analog all day vs pack and a half. But I get a feeling that most people are upping the mg or going through more ml a month. I have no facts, just feels like maybe if I'm not careful and vape more then required, then that's where I'll be. With all those yummie flavors out there, and the novelty of vaping I can see that this might become an issue for myself and others out there if discipline and restraint isn't being actively be practiced. what is everyone's experiences with this. Will I just require more and more naturally if I don't take steps to control nicotine addiction just like analogs?

I haven't found that at all.

I started with 18mg. And I have never gone higher. These days, I actually vape 12mg-16mg more often.

Some days I hardly vape at all. Some days I vape a lot. And the really funny thing?

If I forget my e-cig at home... it's not as big of a deal as it was if I forgot my cigs. I still don't like being without it, I admit... but I'm not killing people after a couple hours, like I was if I didn't have ciggies.

I actually feel LESS addicted now than I was before. A the majority of people do find the same. Many of us continue vaping because we enjoy it. But those of us who have decided to go to zero-nic juice, or stop vaping all together, have found it easier than quitting smoking. And while I haven't attempted to quit vaping, I can kinda see it.

Keep in mind, nicotine is not the only addictive substance in cigarettes. There are many.

When you switch to e-cigs, you have cut out everything except nicotine.

Yes, I would say that it is totally possible that a person could end up sucking on a PV more often than they actually did with the cigs. Although, in my case, that would be darn near impossible because I pretty much smoked all my waking hours. Thats how I vape now too. Especially since there is much less guilt and cost associated with vaping.

I do find myself getting a bit of an over dose of nicotine sometimes when I'm testing new flavors or testing out an atomizer I just cleaned and primed. I have to force myself to just walk away from it for 20-30 minutes or so.

Remember, nobody starts off smoking a pack and half a day. Its a gradual insidious process over a long period of time.
So, if you can consciously limit your vaping to the same times and events as your smoking, you should be alright.

Of course there is the novelty factor of vaping at first. That will wear off with time. I think, LOL. Once you find the right juice you won't be experimenting as much either and will gradually settle into a comfortable routine.

SAME!!! Not sure why either. When I'm vaping, I"m chain vaping. but when I'm not, I"m not thinking about it. And I don't have that panic feeling I would get with forgetting my smokes or if I realized I had 1 left in the pack and it was after the stores closed and before a snow storm... I love that I'm not enslaved to these things, but they still make my life fun at the same time :)

I certainly was using my PV as a pacifier for the first week with 24mg in the mornings and 18 in the afternoons and evenings but now, I am down to 18 mornings and less the rest of the day, between 16-12 and don't have to have the thing stuck in my mouth all the time :p. I also don't have the strong nicotine cravings I used to have before I switched. I used to wake up 4-5 times a night to smoke and now, I don't wake up at all and don't have the need to reach for the thing as soon as I open my eyes. Instead of an intense "oh, my god I need a cigarette NOW" feeling, it's more of a slight nagging that I can mostly ignore. I have been experimenting with making my own juices and mix 0 nic batches to test and one I liked so much, I used it for about 6 hours before remembering it didn't even have nic in it. Awesome.

For me, it is a physical addiction but a large percent is very strongly psychological. I was in a bad way yesterday, stressed out with work (I work from home and my job can get very stressful but I can throw a tantrum all I want! lol) and my atomizers are not performing well, so I was having a hard time getting anything to vape decent. I got mad, ripped open a pack of cigarettes and stormed outside, determined I was going to smoke the damn thing down to the filter. I lit it, took one drag and found it to be so vile, I couldn't even suck it in. I gagged, threw it on the ground and stomped it until it was a pile of ground tobacco and paper.

A lot of the addictive substances in cigarettes work TOGETHER. For example, nic increases dopamine, and MAOI's stop them from being re-absorbed. The result is LOTS of dopamine floating around in your head.

I wonder if, when you remove one or the other, it lessens the grip of the addiction. Because now, it's just the nicotine. There's no MAOI's, like there is in cigs. So maybe nicotine on its own is simply not as addictive as the two combined. Maybe this is also why some people continue to crave cigs no matter how high nic they use. They're craving the MAOI's, not the nic.

For those really bad moments, I have a small supply of snuff (you can also use snus) that I keep around. These products are smokeless tobacco, and do contain MAOI's, but due to the lack of additives, and lack of combustion, they are not associated with severe health risks to the same level that smoking is.

I have found that if I'm really doing bad and I'm about to break down and have a cig, a bit of snuff takes that urge away, and I don't want a cig anymore. I don't use it much at all - I've had it for over a month (maybe two?) and I've used it once. But it's nice to know it's there, for when the craving feels out of control and vaping isn't helping.

MAOI's, in addition to being addictive, are also anti-depressants and anti-anxiety. This may be why you crave them in stressful times. You've essentially been medicating stress with cigs.

I'm using less less juice and a lower concentration of nicotine. Not through actively trying, but because my tolerance and need have decreased. It's not a huge drop (from 2-3 ml of 24mg/ml to 1 ml of 16-18 mg/ml), but after 30+ years of 1 1/2 PAD, the drop is enough to keep me from worrying about it. YMMV.

I started vaping about a year ago and I haven't been able to lower my mg yet. Actually, I never really tried that hard to do it! For me, it's more about throat hit than the nic level. If I could find a low mg vape that gave me a monster thraot hit, then I would be fine. I started with 24/36mg and use 24 usually during the day and 36 every once in a while. I do use about 12 or 18 at night, though.

I've settled into a pretty good routine. I always have my PV with me and am constantly still messing around with juices, PVs, and attys. I guess something just to keep me/my mind busy. I always have a diabetese case with me full of flavors and attys and usually have 3 PVs with me. But I got a Fistpack recently that is USB charged, so it's nice not having to mess around with batteries all the time. Vaping has just become so normal to me now. People ask me if I am gonna quit vaping because I tell them how I quit smoking. I don't really see myself ever quitting vaping. It's fun!:)

It's not a huge drop (from 2-3 ml of 24mg/ml to 1 ml of 16-18 mg/ml),

Not to contradict the point you're making, but (mathematically, anyway), that is an ENORMOUS reduction. Think about it, you've dropped the nic level by 1/3(ish), and you've further dropped your overall usage by 1/2-2/3. At the end of the day, you're only taking in 22-33% of the nicotine you were when you started (someone's more than welcome to correct me if my math is wrong, it's been a while! :)).

Judging by the fact that you didn't feel it was a huge drop suggests that reducing your nicotine intake wasn't nearly as hard as one might expect. :)

Its been a year for me, and I am vaping about 5ml/day. The volume has stayed about the same, but I started at 24mg nic and am down to 12mg most of the time. I buy 24mg juice and use doublers to cut it to 12. For the times when I feel I really need the extra nic (usually stress) I use the 24mg, but that is probably once a week or less.

I have had a few friends ask me when I am going to quit vaping, but I like doing it too much to stop. When at home on the computer, it is glued to my lips, but when I am working elsewhere I use it when I can and do not feel the need to constantly vape. So unlike cigs where I just had to get one in my mouth. I really like that I can just take a vape or 2 and go back to what I was doing. With a cig, I had to finish it once started.

I vape about the same when at home but at a lower nic level then my first week or 3.
When Im out I dont use a PV as much as I would have smoked.
Mostly I dont worry about it - its less chemicals than cigs and less nic, doesnt smell, doesnt affect my breathing, skin, teeth, hair, clothing, other people....I think you see where I'm going with this..

I haven't been vaping that long(24mg nic), maybe about a month but I don't really see myself quitting or lowering the amount. Nicotine does have alot of positive benefits like increased memory, and for me, a nice calming effect.

Basically, since I've cut out the harmful stuff that was in analog cigs, I don't feel bad about taking the nic in. I sort of equate it with drinking coffee lol

I've been vaping for 11 days now Yea Me! :DI was never without a cigarette except for places that didn't allow them, so I don't think I am vaping anymore than I smoked but I have mixed up some zero nic juice to have to use as a pacifier. I've also order a slightly higher nic level for times when I'm stressed. (Say when I have 4 papers to write in two days:() I smoked ultra light cigs for years so I'm going from 6 mg to 8mg. I would like to be at a point though where I am only vaping zero nic. But I don't forsee giving up vaping anytime soon, too many of my friends still smoke and vaping allows me to still be with them without smoking.

I started at 18mg .. bumped to 24 for a few months with an occasional 36mg vape session... dropped from 24 to 18. The last month to 12mg. My pv was literally attached to my lip for the first 4 months...I frequently woke up to find I had fallen asleep clutching it. My husband finds this very very annoying. I have noticed in the last few weeks that I will go several hours at home with vaping but if I were to leave the house without it I would have to turn the car around. Mentally I can’t let go and I don’t plan to quit vaping.
